You know how you can tell a White Castle fiend? Answer: they have 5 little holes in their tongue. Remember we have all had a relationship with food, and for many of us it has been toxic. Like the woman on Jerry Springer, beaten within an inch of her life we keep saying "but I LOVED him", some of us it was comfort, some the tastes, some a thing we could control, although it usually controlled us instead. And some because fast food is cheaper than fresh good-for-you. We all come in with some sort of emotional baggage, but by all that is holy, we're making the choice to live and live better. @ TinaM8 do you know what happened? Now this was told to me by someone "in the know", it's due to the Affordable Care Act, once insurance companies were forced to cover maternity care they had to also cover Bariatrics A lot of them aren't overjoyed so thats why we have 3,6 or even 12 month restrictions, silly cause in the long run the client is more healthy so they would save money. My view on life insurance, you're betting you need it, the insurance company bets you don't, if you win this agreement you're dead and can't enjoy the win. Most I've read on here say if you've already been accepted into the program it should not matter. Your surgeon's challenge may have been to weed out those who aren't commuted. If you still have doubts I'd ask him or his staff but i suspect your co morbidities would still keep you qualified. Good luck with your weight loss journey. Always neat to meet a new friend, FYI Seahawk Fan just had his surgery recently, I'm pre surg myself but ask any of us anything, so many veterans have helped me already and I want to pay forward if I can also. Did oodles of research before I settled on my future surgery, I'm old enough to be your granny or even great-granny so I have a lot of life wisdom. As for WLS surgery I'm totally in IT to win IT. Early to Mid March at this point, all requirements done but they routinely book out a month-to-6 weeks ahead. Hope I hear a lot more definate in this coming week, I'm in the working in pile cause I rechecked Friday. Wish they would have a sooner cancellation, I WANT IT DONE! Quickest I've seen so far is month, a lot of people up to a year, depends on whether you're self pay or relying on insurance, what pre requirements your surgeon has. They will want to make sure you realize what a lifestyle change it is, how committed you are, it's not the easy way out,you know. I'm not young any longer RnY works the best for me but if I were in my 20,30 or even 40 the advice might be a sleeve gastronomy. Explore your options, learn as much as you can, do you have any friends, family or even acquaintances who have had WLS, be your own advocate as much as possible. I've only been on Bariatric Pal 2-3 months but I've learned so much from the vetran posters here. I'm satisfied I'm ready for what ever may come. My surgery will be 50 miles from where I live, would not want to travel to Mexico, if that's your thing then go for it, I just prefer my surgeon to be fairly near in case anything goes wrong with my recovery. Let me tell you the weird thing that happened to me with phentermine. PCP put me on it last October, went back the 1st of November and I had gained 30 lb. Needless to say no more of that, have lost that and 5 lb more but it's taken until now to do it. Never heard of that happening to anybody else. Glad I'm still going forward with my RnY.
