Weight Creep
They call it a pouch reset but it doesn't really reset your pouch, it resets your head. Maybe in addition to the reset you could look into Weight Watchers or Noom - some program to help you with your choices.

Help im gaining weight at10 months post op
My advice would be to come up with a menu and plan your meals. Avoid buying foods that you shouldn't eat. Maybe make your grocery list and get one of those apps for grocery pickup like they have at Walmart and Hyvee - depending what you have available in your area. That's usually free with a minimum purchase amount and would keep you from impulse buying. You DID NOT go through a major surgery to let that crap food back in your body! Think back to the struggles you went through immediately post op and all the success you've had so far. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Weight loss before first fill
Can't help with your questions regarding the lap band but I did go vote for you to win that cruise!

I want a second baby, but super scared of weight gain
Sorry I can't give you advice from someone who has done this. But I'm sure if you talk to your bariatric team and a nutritionist about your concerns they will help you come up with a game plan. I would think that if you develop a healthy lifestyle including an exercise routine that kind of excessive weight gain in pregnancy can be avoided. Don't go eating crap food again just because you're pregnant and "eating for two".

It will go much faster than you think! Congrats!

I'm stuck - What can do to finally have a bowel movement?
You might need to resort to an enema or glycerin suppository if you feel the stool down in your pelvis and can't get it to pass.

The night before
Pretty normal for any type of surgery really. I'm an operating room nurse and I hear that from patients all the time.

Wondering if I should continue Qysimia
I would get off them. They would help with the preop diet, but its manageable without. You wouldn't want the medicine to interfere with any drugs that your anesthesia team need to give you. The interaction between that and anesthesia drugs could cause an irregular heartbeat. If you do choose to continue to take it up to surgery day, be sure to let anesthesia know about it - its much more important that they are in the know than the surgeon.

Lost only 1 pound in a week
You're post op though, which means that your body is still recovering from surgery and likely retaining water. I'm sure you'll see a big drop on the scale soon. Try not to stress about it and focus on those fluids. You're doing great!

Just received insurance approval!
Aw I sure hope your nerves don't get the best of you. For a large majority of people it's been the best thing we've done, so I hope you join that number too!

STARVING PRE-OP
It helps prepare you mentally to make sure you can stick to the diet post op. So if you need to cheat a little then do so but just know its better not to cheat at all after your surgery or you risk complications.

Transition from liquids to pureed food
Protein powder just went in everything when I was at that stage. High protein yogurt, soup with protein, applesauce with protein, jello with protein, hummus with protein.. you get the idea. I bought and still buy bariatric food items from the bariatricpal store. The points I get participating in forums helps get it discounted and I can always hit the free shipping if I include purchasing my vitamins through them as well.

Grapefruit
I don't think you shouldn't eat grapefruit, but I do think you need to focus on eating more than grapefruit, simply because it is so low calorie. Your focus needs to be getting your protein it. I hope you are able to supplement with protein drinks until you can tolerate more foods.

Chia seeds?
My husband is concerned about me eating chia seeds. He’s worried they’ll expand in my sleeve and be uncomfortable. Anyone have good or bad experience with chai seeds? I’m 7 months postop.

BMI Goal: is your BMI goal to be healthy or overweight?
The BMI chart is outdated and not a good measure of whether or not you’re healthy. I dropped down to wearing a size 6 and was still “overweight”. It’s BS

A thread for when Umm Yasmin wants to add marginally relevant comments about stuff
- Should I or shouldn’t I get Lap-Band
Nope nope nope. Im like the rest of the responses - can't believe that there are still surgeons out there placing them. I strongly urge you to rethink the decision. There is a reason that they are falling out of favor.- Do all sleeves or baraitric surgeries need revisions?
It's always good to look at medical sites and studies. A common opinion I see "a huge percentage of VGS patients get GERD and need to revise to bypass anyway!" That does happen, but according to medical studies, the numbers aren't as high as people's perceptions.- Do all sleeves or baraitric surgeries need revisions?
No. According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, revisions made up 14% of the total number of bariatric surgeries in 2017. You have to figure that yes, some of them were revisions from sleeve to bypass, but its much more likely that a majority of those were revisions of lapbands to either sleeve or bypass since band failure is the issue we see more often. In 2011 bands made up 35% of weight loss surgeries so theres a lot out there probably getting revised. If you are curious here is the website: https://asmbs.org/resources/estimate-of-bariatric-surgery-numbers- Hair Loss
I had hair loss. And I did everything I could to prevent it. Biotin, high protein diet, an expensive shampoo and conditioner (Organic Fight Fall Out Plus, Niacin & Caffeine) . It still happened, but its not near as bad as other people's Ive seen. I did cut it short and resist washing it too often, using dry shampoo. It would fall out the most when I was washing it. Another thing though, I read an article about Phytic acid. Its a unique natural substance found in plant seeds. It impairs the absorption of iron, zinc, and calcium and may promote mineral deficiencies. So I stopped eating plant based foods when I would take my mulitvitamin so it wouldn't interfere. Thats when my hair loss slowed. It could be a coincidence, but I thought I would share anyway.- Nutribullet vs Ninja
I have a Vitamix. They're expensive, sure. But they are great for use as a food processor too. I use it to chop onion and even make cauliflower rice. Be sure to look at it as an investment.- Lentils are killing me!
There's an idea!! - Should I or shouldn’t I get Lap-Band
