  1. I think the stomach bug idea is your best bet. Hopefully no one will pay any attention to what you're eating anyway and it will be a non-issue.
  2. Mine is Baby. Because of the amount and consistency of the food when it was brand new like a baby. It would sometimes need burped like a baby and would be fussy when hiccups came. Now I can eat real food... my Baby’s all grown up!
  3. No, doctor's plans vary greatly. My doctor had me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery and *6* WEEKS after surgery. So I get it. But I've reviewed the posts and frankly I don't see anyone telling you to follow THEIR plan, they are advising you to follow YOUR SURGEON'S plan. You do what you want. But just because you aren't getting the responses you want - which seems to be them supporting your choice not to follow your surgeon's plan - does not mean you are being judged. Youre going to find a lot more 'tough love' in these forums than you will enabling.
  4. I don't feel like we are judging you, we just aren't here to enable you if you decide to not to follow your surgeon's plan. You will probably be fine, yes. But really, you shouldn't be surprised that a lot of go to responses on here are going to be "follow your surgeon's plan".
  5. Oh no! It should be easy to find someone that will just foil in the highlights. I don't think very many salons use caps anymore. Torture!
  6. I would also suggest not just an overall dye but maybe highlights as well to give it some dimension. I've been too scared myself to dye my hair while its falling out but now that it's stopped I'm thinking about getting it balayaged
  7. I'm not sure about the hair dye but from all the befores and afters of women getting their hair cut shorter it almost always looks better in my opinion.
  8. Since you came, you should stick around a while! It's nice to have a place to get advice, support, or just rant. So welcome to the forum!
  9. Oh I remember having that feeling of getting dizzy and nearly blacking out. I don't know what changed to make it stop but that has stopped for me. Maybe it's the calorie increase, maybe the addition of some more carbs, I'm not sure. Hope it ends for you soon, too.
  10. Yes. Ive been going to the chiropractor for years and expected to have less back pain from carrying less weight. My chiropractor said the same thing as your surgeon - the body changing how its carries the weight. But if youre like me, it should get better. Last month I went to my appointment with no back pain, just kept the standing appointment I had. So it is getting better. Core strengthening exercises should help with the process.
  11. LOL.. I don't know!! Those were posted when I was 145 pounds - I'm down to 133 now!
  12. Those pics were from 2 months ago I have since passed my goal weight! It feels great!
  13. My stomach cant handle greasy food at all. I tried a cheeseburger sans bun a while back and it was bad news bears. Maybe a few French fries but other than that I stay away from fried items. I was telling my husband (as we sat in our favorite Mexican joint) that it was lucky for me that corn chips were NOT a slider food and I can only do about 7-10 chips before I have to stop. Preop I used to be able to eat chips and salsa until it would about kill me.
  14. Good luck. Eggs gave me trouble early on and I had to start out with them pretty runny. Keep 'em soft like Avery's Mom advised as well.
  15. Everyone should listen to their surgeon's plan, You trusted your surgeon to operate on you, you should trust their process. But if you really feel like you must advance your diet be sure to proceed with caution: go slow and if you feel any pain stop immediately and call your surgeon. Good luck.
  16. I had my procedure at Olathe Medical Center because I'm an employee there (surgical nurse) and know the bariatric surgeon and have seen him in action. Didn't really look at other programs in the KC area. The only input I can give is that a Nurse Anesthetist had planned on taking a job at KC Bariatric and decided not to based on the fact that "money came before patient care" and in surgery specifically the patient's were allotted one and only one bag of IV saline for the procedure whether they could benefit from the extra fluid or not. During the conversation that followed, we in the operating room discussed how it isn't uncommon for private, physician owned hospitals to cut costs this way. Every penny saved is a penny in their pockets. At a bigger medical center like KU however, that surgical team wont see any more income from your procedure by being chintzy with IV solutions, supplies and medications. These stories are ones that I hear of from not just bariatric centers but freestanding surgery centers that do orthopedics or other procedures. For me the fact that the CRNA in question would decline a pay increase based on the integrity and care standards is a red flag for KC Bariatric.
  17. I was taking B12 in addition to my mulitvitamin and I was actually getting so much B12 that my levels were double what they needed to be. My surgeon looked at the multi and determined that it had enough B12 without me having to take the extra pill. I also take calcium chews 3x a day.
  18. I'm not sure how people returned to work right away. It seemed like my only focus the first 2 weeks was to sip sip sip to get all my fluid and protein in. I managed but I literally sat in my recliner all day with a variety of fluids next to me.
  19. Oh that's odd. My surgeon and I'm sure many others say YES to vitamins for life.
  20. My reaction to her food intake was "well there's the problem! Poor girl probably doesn't realize that she is consuming HELLA carbs!" Ditch the OJ - thats full of sugar and is no better than drinking soda. Replace the bananas and papayas with berries - banana and papaya are high sugar fruits. You need to replace the carbs with proteins - they will keep you fuller longer. and speaking of protein - WHY IS IT YOU ARENT HAVING ANY PROTEIN UNTIL DINNERTIME?! Seriously - there is a small amount in your soy milk and a small amount in the cream cheese. But a majority of your protein is the stuff you're eating after 6pm. No wonder you're hungry.
  21. For me its been sticking to a healthy diet once my hunger returned. It was easy to ignore unhealthy foods when I wasn't hungry and its much much harder now. I have to be very deliberate in making my food choices and saying NO to food I know isn't healthy.
  22. I have a coworker that also got lactose intolerant after surgery. She had good luck with Fairlife milk but if you feel you aren't hitting your protein goals it would be a good idea to get plant based protein shakes or yogurts. You could also add the powdered peanut butter to your drinks. Good luck! That's rough!
  23. Maybe you're just retaining water? Did you happen to have a high sodium meal?
  24. Good for you! You'll have that steak again someday too! I love a good steak!
