    2feelinggreatagain reacted to BlueGirl1920 in Week 8: -34lbs and I feel great!
The pain in my back and hips is gone. I am starting to get my energy back. My clothes are almost starting to get to big. So many good things to report, it certainly outweighs the bad. Speaking of bad, I went a week without laxatives and ended up with Constipation so bad, giving birth was easier. I still have a hard time eating solids without feeling sick. I Thought I was drinking enough fluids but I guess I wasn't. I kept getting really dizzy and almost passed out a few times. I figure low fluids equal low blood pressure. I increased my fluids and I am doing fine now. I am getting used it crunching down 4 Vitamins a day. Not always easy to remember. Every morning I put four on the microwave and that reminds me to take them and I don't lose count throughout the day. Sadly, my weight loss has slowed. Diet want be enough from here on out. I am going to have to start exercising and stop being a couch potato. Exercising will be easier now that I have a bunch of weight off. Overall, I am motivated, excited, and starting to dream again. For so long I decided I would never lose weight and started to give up on some dreams. I see myself being able to do things that were once not possible. This is no cake walk but it sure is worth it.

Please, please, please search for "stalls" on this site or generally in reference to bariatric surgery. They are common and sometimes last for weeks. You didn't gain all your weight on a daily basis and you won't lose it that way, either.
Many people do recommend taking your measurements, as even when the scale isn't showing a loss, your measurements often will. But, generally, be patient and follow your program--you'll start seeing changes again once your body has caught up to the rapid changes in your lifestyle.

So tonight was my first time dining out w. My family.. we went to a local restaurant. I was excited but nervous..
I ended up ordering shrimp tacos. W. A side of steamed veggies..
I removed the taco wrap and ate the grilled shrimp and shredded cheese. There was three tacos. I ate the shrimp and cheese out of two of them and brought 1 home. Ate most of the veggies except the carrots. They were the hard whole ones so I was nervous about those.
I feel I may have a tiny bit more then 4 oz. But I really didn't have a lot today food wise so I didn't feel so bad.. I do feel a bit full and was nervous I was gonna be sick but home now and feeling ok..
I'm nervous for v.day. my husband and I want to go out to dinner and I don't know how that will go.and what about having 1 glass of wine for a special occasion???

Down this path lies madness. With all due respect, don't concern yourself with how much or how fast others lose weight. This is not a race we're running against each other. You're doing great. Celebrate that!

People have told me they have chewed and spit out the food if they really want to taste something they know they can’t eat like steak. My friend said she ate steak once and couldn’t eat for 3 1/2 days because she didn’t chew it down right so it took long for her stomach to process it.
Shocking!!! Is this normal? Like a DL thing people do? Be honest please

I have to eat out alot do to my travel schedule and this may sound silly but it works for me, I have a tiny glass bowl that I would put on my food scale and add food and most on the time it was between 3-4 oz so I take the bowl with me everywhere and I just transfer the food from my plate to the bowl and I dont eat anymore than that. As far as the wine goes I say DON'T, not only can the sugar amounts be higher than what you can do but you will get drunk very fast than sober but still feel drunk. I havent had a glass yet as I am only 6 weeks out but 2 of my friends did at 3 months and said it was awful. The last thing you want to do is be sick on Valentines day.

Did you feel OK afterwards? Just curious. I was sleeved 1/24 and plan to have a glass of wine and a taco (or the inside of it) for a special occasion. It will be 5 weeks post-op, at which point my program says "healthy diet" (aka no more restrictions.)

I’m 9 days post-op and I’ve already hit a stall. I’ve been the same weight for 3 days now. Is it normal to hit a stall only 9 days out? I’ve been walking for 20-30 min on a treadmill and that’s not helping.

2feelingreat.....have you tried the Protein Pasta? They're made with chickpeas and lentils (and a little wheat, but mostly chickpeas and lentils).
Lots of protein, fewer carbs, might be a good compromise once in a while?

My downfall was too much food, and some anxiety eating. My favorite foods might still be favorite foods. I have no desire to eat like before, but I refuse to give food the power of being an enemy. I don't want to be 'good' or 'bad'. I liked Pasta, but 'meh' not a super favorite and don't want it now at all. I have had a few bites of foods I like a lot, but nothing overboard. It has to be prime quality or I won't try it - no one wants a casserole lol, no one wants store bought cake with nasty shortening frosting. Be picky, be worth it.

2feelinggreatagain reacted to Creekimp13 in 10 days post op- think I pushed myself to much today-- in pain..
Ouch! That wasn't the smoothest move....and sounds exactly like something I'd do.
I'd be really surprised, however, if you did anything that caused any real damage. 10 days out, some serious knitting has already occurred. They put really heavy duty suture material in the muscle wall, too. So, while the sutures probably pulled like crazy and caused some irritation...I doubt you did anything dangerous.
If you're scared...keep track of your temp and your heart rate. If both are in the normal range and don't start going up....all is well.
obviously, if you notice heat that doesn't improve, or new bulges ....or systemic symptoms like nausea or spreading pain...seek help right away.
I think you just overdid it...and pulled on those healing tissues in a way that let you know it was the wrong thing to do.
    Ice packs might help.

I'm already on that stage .. it's so funny to me how everyone has different foods that are allowed per each phase. Phase 2 for me is thicker Soup, but still runny cream of wheat, yogurt, Jello , pudding ,things like that.. I want like chewy mouth texture food.. ughh..

( being a bit dramatic but honestly this is how I sound in my head) .
    ...omg....
    I need some help motivation..
I know I can't eat them I can seriously hurt myself.. so I know that is what is holding me back and the main reason on why I needed to have this surgery cause I couldn't control myself.. but seriously this is all I'm thinking about.....

If you need food....and you're hell bent to cheat....pick something from the next stage of your approved diet,
Like...oatmeal, cream of wheat, strained canned cream Soup, or sugar free pudding.
I would shoot for bland at first.
And of course, the best thing to do is stick with your program as written.
Have been there, and felt your pain.

Ok, so here's some "pizza soup" on the fly for you. I think you'll get a couple of servings.
8oz chicken broth or Bone Broth
    1oz pepperoni
    dried italian seasoning
    1/4-1/2c lowest cal/carb marinara sauce
    2 tbsp parmesan, grated
    dried italian seasoning
    1 scoop unflavored Protein Powder
Simmer the pepperoni in the chicken broth and marinara for 10 minutes. While Soup simmers, mix Protein powder with a small amount of warm Water until it forms a paste. Set aside. Strain broth to remove all pepperoni. Add parmesan cheese and whisk hot liquid into the protein powder slurry.
And there you have it...pizza soup. Pour about 4oz of the soup into a cup. Use a spoon and eat slowly.
    You can do this!

2feelinggreatagain reacted to orionburn in How much protein?
How in the hell did your doc not go over this with you already!? Oi...
Daily goals (minimum) are 60 oz of Protein and 64 oz of Water. I like to have my protein more at 80g a day but that isn't as easy to do in the beginning. Invest in some better protein powder or drinks as well. The package should say how many grams of protein are in a single serving. Some of the premade stuff has a lot of empty calories/carbs. guessing the Atkins ones may not be so bad, though, but never used them.
There's a lot of debate on this, but a good rule of thumb is to keep it to no more than 30g of protein in a serving. The reason for the debate is that some studies show anything over 30g is basically wasted. Better to try and spread your protein out over the course of the day.
