I think most people do it, Funny thing is you can still eat everything you could before surgery after surgery, You just have to find the will power not too. Just remember what ever you gain now is more that you have to lose in the end

I don't have any answers for you, but I thought this was interesting and so will share.
I spoke with a research bariatrician recently cuz they wanted me to join a study about bone density loss and WLS. I asked her about the optimal food intake during the first 6 months.
She said, what they've seen historically is that the first 2 months when the cals and nutritional intake are the lowest, provide a huge weight loss advantage--the biggest losses they see are in Month1 and Month2. She said, after that it tapers off and they don't know fully if that's because more food/food variety/calories etc are also being added, or if it's the effect of metabolism.
She said the honeymoon period is ideally about 6 months for most patients, but that weight loss will continue to be very much easier from surgery date to as far out as 1 year to 18months. Then she said, that it didn't mean you can't still lose, it's that weight loss becomes much harder and more like a non-WLS patient where it's mostly a result of diet rather than surgical intervention.
I have no idea in real life if ANY of that is true! LOL. But I thought I'd share someone who is in the trenches actively researching these things.

I feel like my weight loss has been slower than a few other people who were sleeved around the same time as I and I know we shouldn’t compare ourselves sometimes it’s hard not too but I also like the sit back and think about the last time I lost 40kg in 6 months.. umm never! We need to remember just how far we’ve come. You’re doing great.. keep it up

@jes_x You make a great point...I think part of it is I knew I was big, but never really realized just how big. You've almost lost 100 pounds, that's terrific!

I have to add, I used to cringe at having a pic taken and avoided it at all cost. Now I'm a selfie king [emoji146]!! Haha

It’s completely normal & it’s completely frustrating! I didn’t lose weight for pretty much the entire first 4 weeks and it got depressing because I was doing everything right. Keep doing all the right things & trust the process:)

You already said your body is giving signals to slow down and dont over eat. If you can't find a way to stop. You might want to find a counselor/theripist to help

Some tips....sit at a table to eat with no distactions. Take a bite and seriouly concentrate on chewing it and slowing down. Read up on mindful eating practices

I wish I had known that the pain from the gas is the really awful, Up in your shoulders after surgery, just walk around as soon as you feel up to it. Take before photos & measurements even if you really don’t want too.. Let me assure you stalls in weight loss after surgery are extremely common but mentally it can be quite difficult especially if you are doing all the right things and nothing happens for week/s so it’s nice to see the progress

I was exactly the same and it is so disheartening especially when your doing everything right, But from what I read our bodies are trying so desperately to hold on to everything because it doesn’t know when it will be fed again, Soon your body will adapt and it will start falling off! Trust the process, Oh and take measurements because even when the scale isn’t moving I bet the inches will be getting smaller. Good luck

The "pouch reset" is actually only a exercise in habit reform. You most likely did not stretch your sleeve. I say "most likely" because it is a very rare thing for a properly performed VSG to stretch. The esophageal sphincter or the pylorus will weaken long before the sleeve will stretch enough to cause tears that heal back with a larger volume over and over again. Or if someone had bypass, the opening created in the intestine could be stretched which would allow food to go through too quickly.
The pouch reset is a name given to reverting back to the post-op basics. Fluids for a short time, then soft foods, then dense Proteins. It is an exercise designed to train your mind to recognize the sensation of fullness.
So are you too far gone? No, of course not. The only question is how important is it to you to make the change that is necessary. Don't think about eating less crap, think of not eating that crap at all. There is no need for it. I will admit that I miss the convenience of fast food, but I do not miss anything else about it. I am actually quite proud of myself that I have not had a fast food sandwhich in almost 3 years.

I have a couple of things. That I would have an insane amount of gas anytime I ate or drank in the first couple of months. And that no amount of eating slowly can prevent that. Not an issue now at 10 weeks but was awful the first month. No regrets though. That eating would get disgusting. As in, I would not get the same feeling from food as I used to get and I would have food aversions to things to used to enjoy. Like guac, Peanut Butter, fried chicken. That my taste bud would change. Also that the sensation of food being stuck in your throat and throwing up is so uncomfortable and weird. When I started solids, it was interesting with chicken. And throwing up is just not the same. Thankfully it's better no gross sour bile taste anymore. Anyways.....lmao....my surgeon did tell me that. The last one is Water. I knew already from nut class that I would need to sip slow with my water all day. But I don't think I knew the extent to which I would be unable physically to drink water. Especially since I was breastfeeding at the time of surgery and drinking 4L water a day! It was a huge shock to my system. I couldn't even drink up to 20 ounces that first week. And now I am at 48-64ounces. My norm is 3L a day pre sleeve. Anyways. I am just a newbie at 2.5 months. So still learning an discovering as I go. We shall see how things go. So grateful for this tool. The first 65 pounds has been awesome to get off, I am now only 15 pounds away from the weight I was before ever getting pregnant. That's one of my milestones.
