I've told my S.O., my best friend, and my brother and sister. If anyone asks about my weight change I'll just tell them about the diet and exercise aspects. My medical issues are no one else's business.

    I did not tell everybody.
I had several negative comments. I carefully pick who I tell.

Took a loan from my 401K, every bit of my savings, and a bit on my credit card.

Supportive spouse here, too. He attended my pre-op class and I think hearing some of the basics has been super good for him in understanding my needs and changes.

An hour? Ouch. My doc only asked us to wait 30 minutes before/after. Not saying to ignore their instructions but that seems a bit much.

In the early days I struggled with getting my Protein in through food sources. One thing I did was to start the day off with my Protein Shake. That way I had almost half of my protein goals taken care of first thing in the morning. Plus any water/milk from that can still count towards your Water intake for the day. Kind of took the edge off of eating later in the day. I never pushed myself or anything, but it's freaking hard to hit 60+ grams of protein through food alone in the first few months (for me at least!).
I also kept a 32 oz container around me at all times, such as an old Powerade or Gatorade bottle. I'd fill that up with Crystal Light and then my goal would be to have that done half way through the day. Then I'd refill it and have the second one done in the evening. Some days water went down easier than others. Either way that bottle traveled with me all day long. If I went outside, it went with me. Went upstairs to fold laundry, it went with me.

I'm 5 weeks out and haven't had a period since surgery. Fingers crossed that when it returns it will be business as usual.

I let a Sun Chip disolve in my mouth, lol. I was desperate for something other than Protein Drinks and Soup.

My husband was with me until they wheeled me in for surgery, and they brought him in about 5 minutes after I woke after surgery. Surgery was only 45 minutes, so he sat in the waiting room less than an hour but was otherwise with me the whole time. I was outpatient, so we went home together shortly after surgery.

Yes, Coco Wheats is a hot cereal.....like Cream of Wheat with Cocoa in it. It's 110 calories a serving, only I can only do half a serving thinned with about a third of a protien shake. Still comes out to about 100 calories. Good stuff!

Glad I’m not alone. I am four days Post op and I’ve had no Protein because It’s so gross. Smells and taste like spoiled milk. I have only tried Premier Protein. i’m supposed to be on Clear Liquids for this week.

Definitely having a breast reduction. That was actually one of my motivations to have wls. My heavy breasts are killing my back and my insurance denied me for a reduction. You have to be under 30 BMI to be considered. So it was out of pocket for best reduction, or out of pocket for wls and let them cover the reduction.

I'm only 11 days out so not a ton of experience, but I've been putting hot sauce on all the bland foods I'm allowed in this phase, lol. So far, so good. Also have no problem w/the broth from spicy Soups like tortilla Soup and chili.

I'm 8 days out. After day 4 or so I could drink quite a bit of Water or broth in one sitting. The same isn't true for the thicker foods my plan allows (yogurt, cottage cheese, scrabbled eggs) so I've been doing those for meals instead of broth. For broth I've been going to Whole Foods and getting the broth from their market Soups, and giving them a once over with an immersion blender just incase there's anything chunky hiding in there. So much more satisfying than plain broth.

I made the mistake of discussing the idea with friends and family several years ago. I'm lower BMI (35) and they thought I was insane to take surgical steps when I could keep the weight off if I would just up the diet and exercise. Um, those things consume my life anytime I'm able to lose weight, and even still I've never made it even close to a healthy BMI. Not a single person was supportive, except for my husband. Now, 5 years later, actually going through with the procedure, I've decided to keep things private.

As far as coworkers, acquaintances, and other peripheral people, I just tend to be private in general. It's not their business, I don't really care if they spend their mental energy coming up with theories on my weight loss.
