6 month follow up exercise eval & appointment today. I'm at 95% excess weight lost!!! Almost a 150 pounds down!! I never would've dreamed I could be at this point. Never! My Before & After pics say it all!! I just need to tell y'all to stick with the program and do what you need to do. Even for the days that you get discouraged. The result is worth it with better health!! So thankful and happy!!

As long as this is an opinion editorial.... I think safety is good, but being overprotective is not. I grew up in the country - rode bikes with no helmet, broke some mean horses, baled hay, was towed behind a pickup truck with sleds by the drunk neighbor, swam in the creek, etc. I always wear seat belts and mororcycle helmets. If all the sidewalks are steep hills and such, helmets might be a good idea. I believe parents have a right to raise their kids in their own way as long as there is no abuse. So refrain from calling CPS, and that really bothers me that it was even suggested.

14 months after gastric sleeve surgery, I'm sporting a BMI under 25. It's absolutely ridiculous what I've accomplished with the help of this tool. But it has been HARD.
Nowadays, I still feel like a fat girl, and I do micromanage all the food that goes into my body (my friends are making fun of me for it now that I'm "slim") so that I can either keep losing or at least keep this weight off. I wish that wasn't such a big part of my life, and I didn't have to think about it all the time, but that's the way it has to work! There's a lot of habits that have changed unconsciously too, so it's not all too difficult.
I had tons of stalls and tears along the way and I started a new phase of my life while in my losing phase, so I can relate to many out there who are fighting through it. I'm happy to talk to anyone who might benefit from sharing their struggles!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm 6 months out and below my personal goal weight...we all need this reminder that surgery is just one part of the journey. We need to conquer our minds daily to beat this struggle. It's a life long journey.

Well Thankfully, everything you read isn’t always true! I went to my dental cleaning and my dentist laughed at me when I asked him if I was losing my teeth or if I had Meth mouth like I had read in an article. He told me absolutely not and that my teeth were strong and I wasn’t going to lose them or need dentures! He said that the only issue I had was from a prior dentist over filling my fillings, which caused two of them to break. I was so relieved! He told me to not read anything else about someone else’s experience because we don’t always know every issue they may have gone through. I do take my Vitamins, my doctor checks me every 3 months. I do think it is something we should be aware of as Gastric Bypass patients, but nothing to freak out over, like someone said, that guy on TV had bad teeth prior to his surgery! So for now, I’m in great shape and will keep smiling! They aren’t perfect, but they are my real teeth! (Some crowns, that will be getting replaced by nicer ones!)

Here's mine. Very thankful that I had the opportunity to do this surgery! Only 36 pounds to goal weight!
