kandywolf got a reaction from jess9395 in What was your first CHRISTMAS after WLS like?
I guess I didnt realize people would not realize I meant there is a sugar free variety, (that I make every year. I have a lot of diabetics in my family) sugar free, but not dairy free (it doesnt bake correctly if you try dairy free) this is the one I have used forever. Tastes almost exactly to my regular pumpkin pie, which is always a hit! I do not do the whipped cream. I use fat free evaporated milk, And I use 2 t. Pumpkin pie spice instead of the spices listed. I will be lucky to have a half teaspoon of it, but that is the only craving I have at holidays, because it was something my Mom truly loved! I swear I am the only person that made it for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

I was also sleeved the 17th. I start pureed tomorrow. (I am a little behind because I was on clear for 3 days) My instructions say 1/2 c or 4 oz per meal. I hope that helps. My booklet has sample menus and lists of foods. Plmk if you would like me to post them.

kandywolf got a reaction from KFraz in When will hunger go away?
For me, the smell or sight of a certain food/foods makes me want to eat it. Not that I am hungry for it. Like someone else said, you cut your stomach, not your brain. When I am sad I still crave bad stuff. But there has only been 2 times I was actually hungry. You have to stop and really think about it. Our brains are programmed from old eating habits, and habits are hard to break. I usually have coffee with sf pumpkin Creamer in my fridge. When I think I am hungry, I take a few sips, wait 5 minutes and see if it is still there. I am only a week out, but I am noticing some triggers, I started listening to my body and not my brain.

I was sleeved 10/13. High weight 260, surgery weight was 242, current weight is 168. That's a 74lb loss in just under 5 months. I'm running or doing some other form of high intensity workouts 5-6 days a week. I also follow the diet extremely closely and track every calorie I eat. I'm one of the unlucky/lucky people who dumps anytime I consume sweets or simple carbs. Ice cream, sweet Cereal, bread, Pasta it all makes me feel like I'm dying so I just don't touch it. I'm feeling amazing! Congratulations to everyone else on your amazing transformations!

I noticed my 2nd day, when I got home. Propel, Vitamin Water and Powerade are way too sweet. Even when mixed 1 part to 9 parts water.. eww! Super sweet. Smells are very bad. Again super sweet. Before surgery I washed my bedding, my comforter, throw blankets and everything I could. I had to rewash everything in free and clear detergent and use dryer balls instead of fab soft. All of my air fresheners in my house had to be unplugged

kandywolf got a reaction from Lufifi in Question about Post-Op Pain
Besides being in the hospital for 2 full days, and getting torodol for pain those 2 days, I have only had to take 1 Narco since being home. The nausea was terrible. But it has become minimal. I have been sleeping in my recliner since getting home also. I am a live in nanny, so I stayed off the rest of last week but she is 3 1/2, so does not need me to do much for her except feed her! Next week I will start walking with her. Good luck!

I am really sorry to those who are feeling the actual hunger. I can not imagine feeling that way all the time.
For me, the thinking is real. There is a lot going on around me, that normally a pint of ice cream and a spoon would help fix. I have been an over eater since I became a ternager, and it has gone up and down over the years. Psycolical hunger is a habit. Alcoholics, you do not give a drink to, drug users, you do not give them more drugs. Unfortunately we dont have a choice but to eat. And, for me at least, I would eat for everything. For happy, to Celebrate, sad, anxious, my brain aways looks to food as a comfort. I am not sure it will ever go away, but at least I became aware of it. And truly I would fell like i am starving with about 800 calories a day, if it wasnt for the surgery.
I hope ot gets easier for the ones who feel hungry all the time.

I am so sorry to hear this[emoji53] that is very frustrating and imho that is unprofessional practices. You are working hard and you should not have to wait again. I do not understand the jelly/milk diet? Are you in the US? My weight management center does have surgical suites, but my dr does it in the hospital so his patients have the best care afterwards. I did have my egd done in the surgical suites at the weight management center.
I understand you frustration with the waiting. I went in November last year for my consultation. They told me that my insurance would require me to lose at least 5 lbs and take 6 nutrition classes with 4 weeks in between each one. I had everything done by late Feb/ early March. They told me I had to bring my cpap with me and I said I havent been using it, because it seemed to strong. They said it was too old and they couldnt download the information from it or change it. So I had to go to neurology, and they ordered a home test. It did not give them results to conclude I no longer had sleep apnea. Then I had to go for a sleep study. 2 month wait for neurology, and a 4 month wait for the sleep study. Thankfully I no longer have it! I am now my 7th day post op. It has been a long, hard and frustrating road for me, so I can not even begin to know how you feel. You are not destined to die of obesity. Keep your head up and keep trudging along! My insurance company required me to lose 5 lb and I lost 25! Strive for better days ahead! Praying for you and hoping things get better. If you have any questions or even just to vent, lmk! I am happy to try to help!

kandywolf got a reaction from Apple1 in Have you experienced jealousy?
I have to admit, that even though a few people have said they envy me and how far I have come, they have NEVER EVER cut me down. Most are church family, but also family and friends. I have some family members who never have a nice thing to say, so I just disregard them. They are uplifting and tell me I am doing a great job and to keep up the good work. Tell me how good I look, and how proud they are of me. It IS nice to hear those compliments, but do not let the haters bring you down. I do admit, my friend who had the gastric sleeve surgery 4 years ago, did look a little too skinny. I do think it was only because I had never seen her that skinny! I was a tad jealous, not going to lie, although I didnt know her before the sleeve, only saw pictures, but when I met her, she was steadily losing. 4 years and she had maintained at 155. I have heard a lot of people say a lot of negative things. Usually it is their own insecurities that they are trying to hide. To me she is a true inspiration. I may never be 155 lbs. and I am ok with that! I havent been under 200 since 1999/2000. So I would be happy at 199!
You are going to do a great job! Keep your head up!
Ladies, let the haters hate, as they are leaving someone else alone! Congratulations and great job! You all are a HUGE inspiration to me!

The sipping in super hard. I am on my 7th day out. Also nothing cold. If I forget to warm it in my mouth before swallowing, it hurts. But I love ice cold! Besides the warming in my mouth, I noticed I really have to take my time, even eating yogurt. I thought about using a baby spoon. I have always been a guzzler for drinking, and a shoveler for eating. I have to be very careful and very vigilant on my drinking and eating, and try to slow down .

I had the surgery Tuesday. My number one, be patient. I got out of surgery and in my room by 3 pm. I was nauseas, but that is always when I have anesthesia. I was walking the hall by 6 pm. Wednesday morning i felt horrible. I was refusing oral meds because if being so nauseas. My pain med was one of them. Come to realize the pain is what was making me sick. Pain controlled was the difference! Today I feel great! Able to do little things, minimal pain. Also push yourself, but not too far. Baby steps! Good luck!

I had a really hard time getting fluids in for the first few weeks and still don't hit 64 oz . I'm now 2 1/2 months out. But I get between 30-40 oz a day and feel good at that amount. I carry a water bottle with me always.
