I just read this great article when an acquaintance mentioned she was doing “Code Red” . I never heard of it so I googled and one link was this one:

Everything sounds terrific, things will only get better.
the NSV's you mentioned will continue and become more frequent.
your DH sounds like a keeper! buying a similar bike to ride with you,
    what a sweetie.
Getting thin so you feel like you "deserve" your DH - hmmmm - i think/hope
you know better. he loves you now - size doesn't matter, but smaller definitely
will help with your medical issues, diabetes gone - and HBP is lower now. true,"
personnel" things you and DH will enjoy as you "grow" smaller.
True - age is just a number. Every year my number goes down and down and
down!! LOL I was one month shy of being 58 years OLD when i had the sleeve.
now,7+ years, i am now 65 years YOUNG!!
    keep up the good work
    kathy
    congrats

What procedure are you referring to? I am a 73 (December 26,1945) RuN bypasser, we have many sleevers who are 59-68, I have an ESG friend in Dayton Ohio, I'm sure you can find lapbands who are happy still. Probably Sips , MGB, maybe Obera balloon or 2. Name your procedure you're querying about. And 99% of us would not go back to our old lives!

Hi! Just got home today. Had lots of scar tissue from previous surgery so it took about 4 hours. I was really zonked out on anesthesia until last night. All went well and I’m just dealing with managing the pain. As long as I get ahead of it I’m ok! I have 6 small incisions. I know in a few days it will get better. On clears till Friday when I see the nutritionist to advance my diet to puréed.

Congratulations and wishing you the best!.
I am hoping for April, but dont have a date as of yet. I will know March 20th when I go to see my doctor. After much consideration I will discuss gastric bypass instead of the sleeve with my surgeon.

Hi, I can understand your frustration. You must remember to put yourself first. Most kids just don't have the support to give especially at the start of this journey.
This journey takes a mind shift. It is going to take a daily fight with yourself to get your goals. Don't set yourself up to have to fight with them too! This is a great place for support and other sights. Sometimes we have to learn to be selfish. This is your body and health.

It will absolutely get better. I had a good 2 months where I was throwing up almost every time I ate. Then I had a virus and stalled
For a month. These things happen, it’s part of the process. You have to advocate for yourself, I sat my butt in the surgeons office and wouldn’t leave without and answer.

I had a sleeve done just over 5 years ago. I lost a lot of weight very quickly and managed to keep it off. However, I had ongoing issues with gastritis, GERD, and GI motility. At the beginning of 2019 those issues got much worse. I ended up being hospitalized because I couldn’t eat or drink and was in terrible pain. I had a great bariatric surgeon who was persistent in figuring out what was happening. He determined that my sleeve was not functioning, everything I ate stayed in my stomach and esophagus for way too long. After trying several non-surgical interventions we ended up having to convert to a bypass 4 weeks ago.
The conversion to bypass has been a completely different recovery than when I had my sleeve. I never had dumping with the sleeve, and I learned the signs of being full easily. After the bypass, I don’t have any sensation of fullness until I suddenly have terrible stabbing pain under my left collarbone. I also have experienced both the “slimeys” and dumping multiple times. Dumping syndrome is no joke. I’ll immediately start to feel flushed, weak, intense nausea, and within 10 minutes have diarrhea. The only relief is to lie down for a couple of hours until the weakness and nausea pass. I never vomited after my sleeve, but following the bypass my stomach will randomly reject something, even if I’ve eaten it successfully before, and I’ll vomit it all back up.
The positive side of the conversion is that I have no reflux at all anymore. After living with terrible GERD for decades, even after my sleeve, that’s a huge relief. It has been a struggle to try to stop losing weight after this surgery, because I’m way under my target weight. The only advice I’d give to you is expect that this will be an entirely new journey, and some of the things that worked after your sleeve won’t work this time around. Be patient with yourself and follow your diet restrictions. With bypass it’s been even more important to get my Protein and liquids in. Don’t worry about food for a while, that will come in time.

Waving my hands wildly here! I am 2 1/2 years post surgery. After my initial 70 lb weight loss (took over a year), I have gained back almost 30. I never made it to below 200 either. I have just joined weight watchers again to help motivate me and help keep me accountable. I need to lose 70 - 80 more pounds to get to my personal goal weight and I'm tired of my knees and back hurting.
This is real life so I'm just going to regroup and start again.

Hi all, I'd like to wish all of you who've recently had the surgery congrats to a new way of healthy living and those thinking about it, go for it. The only regret 7 yrs later, I wish I would have done it sooner.
I was at 210 when I finally said enough because I had spent hundreds of dollars on every weight loss program you can imagine. I knew I could lose the weight but it was keeping it off, my weight was up down a yo-yo way of life over years. I wasn't one who struggled with weight my whole life, my problems began after I had children. My children were pretty much grown when I realized I was doing everything for everyone else but me! So I researched various procedures which at the time were only lap Band or by-pass. I also knew I couldn't afford the cost for a procedure here in the US so I started researching Canada, Mexico, and Europe. I found Mexico to be the most cost effective and if something happened it would be a quick drive back into the states. So yes I had my procedure done in Mexico and I did qualify because the Dr.'s their believe in preventative health care, they don't want you to be 100+ lbs over weight with an array of health problems. Their philosophy is get ahead of it before you weigh 300 to 400 lbs which was the path I was headed. Even if you are in that weight range they do perform the procedure with lots of pre and post care treatment programs.
When I got there I had a consultation with the Dr. to go over my lab test, ex rays, etc. He thought I was a good candidate for the sleeve rather then the lap band I had registered for. I liked it because I wouldn't have to hassle with fills or potentially needing to move the port. When I had my procedure I was 198 and 18 months later I was 128. I'm 5'4" and today I weigh 135. I typically teeter between 135 to 145 but when I hit that 10+ ceiling I go back to the liquid diet/soft food
My experience has been overall positive and only regret I hadn't done it sooner.
My sister and daughter both later had the procedure living healthy life styles and couldn't be happier. Most recent my friend had it done and I can't wait to support her through her journey.
I think the first year is your biggest adjustment with not just losing the weight but learning to adapt to your new life style.
Good luck all, I hope my story helps since I had the procedure done 7 years ago, most stories I read people are either getting ready or recently had the procedure.
