  1. angelic 1, i totally understand how you feel, i have been feeling the same way! i'm afraid that i still won't be able to lose, that i'm going to fail, that i will have spent all this money (i'm self pay) and will still be fat. or that my band will slip or somthing a few months down the road. and just like you said, i'm not so scared that i don't want to do this...or think that i'm making a mistake...i'm just worried, what if i'm the one who it doesn't work for.
  2. totally relate to the boob thing! i don't want saggy skin or breasts! i'm hoping they will stay springy!
  3. yea i have gotten the same thing "you have a pretty face" aka your body looks horrable. and your not the only one that gets mad at the "easy way out" comment. my best friends bf said that to me and it really hurt my feelings and then i had to explain why i was doing it etc and i had to explain the actual way the surgery worked! he was jumping all over me without even knowing his facts...that really bugs me. what we are doing is not easy...its hard work.
  4. have any of you guys had more of a negative feed back about getting the band from your thin/skinny friends rather than your heavier friends? I'm wondering if its just a coincidence that my thinner friends are the ones who are not supportive and my heavier friends are the ones saying go for it. any thoughts?
  5. man i wish i liked energy drinks! they taste really weird to me...i can't drink them! :tongue_smilie:
  6. trader joes and safeway both make some good liquid ones
  7. good luck allison, hope all goes well!
  8. thanks for the replys guys...yea i've read about the "side effects"...my boss takes alli and she said that *so far* she hasn't had any need for those extra undies, although she says that once you have to go...you had better be near a bathroom. still not so sure what to think lol
  9. yea the whole dating thing is hard. i recently broke up with my long term bf and i got very heavy while i was with him. i gained about 80lbs total in a year and a half. now that i broke up with him i feel like no one will want me because i am at the heavyest i have ever been. and i feel uncomfortable in my body. i feel like i'm putting my love life on hold until i lose all the weight. i'm afraid of being hurt and i honestly feel like no one will want me while i look this way.
  10. I'm self pay. I'm borrowing money from my parents, have taken out a loan, and i have some $$ saved up. $17,00 but I know it will be worth it!
  11. Hey, I was just wondering in any of you all have tried alli, and what results you got on it? Does it really work? etc..... Marine
  12. omg allison trader joes is my favorite store ever! they have all kinds of natural foods, but they all taste really good. and they have an awesome frozen section. the closest one to me used to be in seattle (2 hrs away) but last year they built one in my town! :rolleyes2: i think they have the best food ever, and its not over priced.
  13. my closest safeway is about 30 min away from me...but if the shakes are that good, i'll drive to get them! :crying: I've also heard the shakes at trader joes are really good...has anyone tried those?
  14. thanks kat, yea thats what i'm hoping....that once i'm banded food won't seem so important to me anymore. i can't wait for things not to center around food.
  15. so I was just wondering how people handle the holidays? Like thanksgiving, xmas, birthdays etc. So many of our holidays are centered around food, and I wanted to know how people are handeling it and if you have any stories or tips? thanks! marine
  16. I'm pre band too...I should be all banded up sometime in May! And I am sooo looking forward to it. I am so tired of being fat. I have all my consultations on April 28th, and I will get my surgery date then! It's getting close! woo-hoo! :huh2:
  17. bikini of course anytime! my AIM sn is: MarineLiebe17 email is same at aol.com i'ed love to have someone to chat with...honestly, i think my dad is getting tired of me always wanting to talk lol. but like i said, hes really the only person that i have to talk to right now (besides this board!) i havn't told very many people...i don't want to deal with any negitive reactions i might have to deal with.
  18. Hey all, I'm 5'5" and 260lbs. My goal is 150, and once I reach that, maybe another goal of 130 :biggrin2: I would like to be an 8...maybe 10. and in my wildest dreams a 6. but i would be extreemly happy at a 8/10. I would like to lose 100lbs in a year.
  19. hey bikini, I'm 22, live in washington state, pre-band! I know what your going though. I had to talk my dad around (took me over a year) but he finally understands and is very supportive. Hes going to all my apts with me etc. my mom on the other hand is and always has been thin. and she doesn't understand. my dad has talked to her and she says she supports me...but it still feel like sometimes that she doesn't. i'm pretty scared about the surgery...mostly about going under. but i have tried everything and i want to be able to live my life. the most common regret that i hear is that ppl didn't get the band sooner. so here i am!
  20. dito to all of that plus: i can't wait to have self-confidence again! i can't wait to feel beautiful for once in my life!:tt1: i can't wait to be able to go upstairs without feeling winded! :w00t:
  21. I started getting really chubby in middle school. I lost about 60 pounds in my jr. year of high school on weight watchers, but gained it again my senior year. It's kinda been all downhill from there. Just kept putting on weight. Every now and then I lose 20lbs here and there, but I always gain it back plus some.
  22. Jessica thanks so much for putting it this way! I feel much better looking at it as "the glass is half full." You are so right..I'ed much rather go under now, than later when I'm more overweight and have a much higher risk of something happening. Plus...the surgery is short, I think my doc said like 45 min...thats a pretty short time to be under. Thanks!
  23. Jessica, I totally understand what you (and everyone else) is feeling. One minute I'm scared, then excited, then worried. Sometimes I'm thinking what the hell I'm getting myself into! I'm pretty sure I will be ok with the pain after. What has me REALLY scared in the general anesthesia. My dad is a personal injury lawyer and he keeps telling me how dangerous anesthesia is and how I'm taking a big risk by going under it. He (and my mom) keep saying that you shouldn't go under it unless you HAVE to. Its really freaking me out. At the same time though, I feel like I'm willing to take that risk rather than keep living the way I am. I feel bad physically and mentally and its hard to do things. I hear ya girl! I'm scared too.
