MG1776 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Down 62 lbs
@Mr EdwardsI'm in a similar situation, down 86lbs overall, and while visibly smaller in size, my belly seems to be stubborn and wants to be the last to go. Little things remind me of the progress made, like thinking to myself "am I going to fit in that booth, or can I make it between the chair and wall?" and find myself having no issues at all where I would have in the past. Keep at it, the belly will eventually go (at least that's what I'm telling myself).

41 lbs in 8 weeks is amazing! I was sleeved 10/16 and am down 42 lbs. 20 lbs a month is great. Continue on your plan, make sure you are moving, and the results will come. Slow and steady seems like a better approach than quickly for skin purposes. It's a lifestyle change. We didn't put the weight on in 3 months, so we can't expect to lose it in 3 months. Just imagine where we will be October of 2018!!! Keep up the good work

You are losing more than normal. My dietician said to plan on 1 to 2 pounds a week. You are doing much more than that. This is a marathon not a sprint. How much would you be losing without the surgery?

@CaliforniaCandyI had VSG in Kaiser South Sacramento 10/16. My initial consultation was 08/11 and had all my appointments crammed in as quickly as I could. You will have nutrition classes, support group meetings, surgeon consult, psych appt, etc. Feel free to ask any questions.
    Thanks,

    Mike

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my surgery. Feeling great not only physically but mentally as well. Still have a way to go but the goal is within sight.

@CaliforniaCandyKaiser did not require a sleep study. I made the surgery and the entire process a priority and took the first available for whatever the next step was so that I could get through the process as quickly as possible. This may work for some, and not for others. I was ready for the change and was taking the steps needed to change my habits and get approved. It's been a blessing. This coming Monday will mark 8 weeks since surgery, and I'm happy to say that today I've lost 42 lbs since 10/16/17.

MG1776 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Do you have take out/Fast food?
I'm 6 weeks post op and have had take out or fast food a few times, however, it has been things that have fit in my plan. For example, when I was on the puree stage, I had a Taco Bell Pintos N' cheese, or a Wendy's chili (taken home and blended). Last night after doing some shopping, we had Chic-Fil-A and I got grilled chicken nuggets (130 calories and 14g of Protein in 4 nuggets). As long as you stick to your plan, you should be fine. I try and order plain and basic, keeping sauces and seasonings to the side and season sparingly myself. I'm finding that I can find things to order most everywhere we go.

Great read @James Marusek! I am 7 weeks post op and found many useful tips. It is definitely an exciting journey, and I love the fact that I can now go into any store and find clothes that actually fit and look good.

I would say yes, as I don't believe you can get in your needed Protein amounts with just pureed foods.

At Wingstop, I eat Original Hot wings (3 or 4) along with celery and carrots and no dips. At Whataburger, Chick Fila or Bill Miller BBQ, I have a plain salad. At Wendys, I will have a small chili with only onions (no cheese or sour cream). At Subway, I will have a chopped salad. I don't eat fast food anywhere else, although I will eat at sit-down restaurants. I will usually order some type of seafood and a seasonal veggie or salad at those places.
About once per month, I might get two Breakfast tacos with the family (bean and cheese, bacon and egg, potato and egg, etc.), and just eat the insides with a fork.
So, I tend to eat out once per week, but I pretty much stay within my guidelines, log everything, and try to stay under 500 calories for the meal. I also usually hit the gym the next day to make up for it.
I haven't had a burger yet since beef hasn't seemed to agree with me in the past, but a turkey burger does sound good though. Maybe I will give that a try.

MG1776 reacted to CowgirlJane in One Month Report out on my six week transformation
I am 6 years post conversion from band to sleeve. I lost over 150# post sleeve and am currently dealing with a partial regain. I had also gotten out of the habit of regular intense exercise (I have remained walking etc. but gave up the higher intensity stuff I used to do).
I have tried all year to use the various maintenance strategies I had learned, but I could not sustain it. A month ago, I joined a "small group personal training" gym that has a whole new approach. They are all about reducing bodyfat percentage and firing up the metabolism. The workouts are all HIIT, and short duration. The food plan is actually too much food (I had to have them modify it for me) but I will say I have not been hungry. It is lean Protein and veggie focused, with very controlled and properly timed healthy carbs and healthy fats. (My new fave Breakfast is pancakes made from rolled outs, egg beaters and zero fat cottage cheese - delish and moderate healthy carb)
It's been 4 weeks, I have lost just shy of 12# and just over 3% reduction in bodyfat percentage. Not setting the world on fire, however, my belt is in a couple of notches, I am working out hard 3X a week and filling in with at home workouts another 2X a week. I am sleeping better, my appetite has increased (that is part of the idea in this program-heat up the metabolism) but my cravings are in pretty good control.
I am only sharing this because my personal experiences were that low carbing, intermittant fasting and other techniques that I had big success with in the past, just don't seem to be sustainable. IF, which I love the results, seems to trigger massive anxiety in me so sadly that option is off the table for now. I guess the takeaway message for me is that maintenance is an ongoing thing, go with the tried and true (ie what works for you) but then when that stops working - be open minded to try something else. Who knew that eating MORE food (but different focus - like no cheese, no higher fat Proteins etc.) would be what I need right now, today.

I'm going to stick to my plan. Protein first, so maybe a couple ounces of moist turkey, and then vegetables. If room, maybe a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. My pouch is too restrictive to indulge in a bunch of crap, so I'll just stay the course and enjoy the people and conversation at the table rather than the heaping plate in front of me.
