Welcome to Kangaroo-land where everyone has or will have pouches. I am the self appointed Welcome Wagon here in this corral. I am a perpetual pre-surgery hoping to change my status SOON. I started out seeking Bariatric Surgery in August 2015. My journey has had more ups, more downs, more hairpin twists and turns than a Coney Island Roller Coaster. But soon I'm going to be all better and I'll get the surgery I have threatened to do myself with a box cutter, fishing line, some hair clips and a Swingline stapler.
The lucky hospital that will be receiving my business is Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center,in Columbus Ohio. There are 2 main bariatric surgeon's there, Dr Needleman(male) and Dr Noria(female). not sure which one will be mine. Maybe they'll have a dart game and the winner(or loser?) gets me. I suspect it will be Dr Needleman, he is the senior partner and, As a rule, does the older patients. But I am not always right and if,Dr Noria is the winner I will be happy to work with her.
I so want this long journey to be completed, but in the meantime I hang around being friends with one and all. Do you have any questions you need answered? I've had a long wait so have studied up on a lot of facets to things. Also I am old enough to,be everyone's mother, grandmother or even great grandmother so I have a bunch of life experiences to fall back on. There are people on here from 18 up to and including my age,*72*. And we all love to help each other if we can. So please hang around and get to know us all🌹😝🌹

My surgeon will submit my paperwork after my final nutrition appointment in May so they say it’s looking like a June bypass date for me. If I could get a late May surgery date I’d be even happier. That’s if insurance approves. Good luck everyone!

Hey@Trixie82 and @AlFxRnY, I had my psych appointment today, yeah the one I had been dreading, was certain things were going to go against me? They didn't, Dr Kramer was WONDERFUL, if anyone in the future wants to,go to Ohio State University hospital for their Bariatric Surgery I wholeheartedly recommend him for evaluations. I passed I passed I passed! Anyhoo I have to meet my case manager, dietician and nurse practitioner on May 24th, so that puts me into June at the soonest. I❤ my Feb-March-April -May buds but in the words of the 60s song Baby I'm Yours, and I know you'll be happy to have me.🌞and🌹ahead for us,no sorrows no pains, just smooth sailing!⛵

I am getting a revision from sleeve to bypass next month. I had my sleeve for 7 years before considering a revision. I wish I had thought of it sooner.
I developed severe GERD and I only lost about 30 pounds in the first 6 months of being sleeved. And I believe that’s because of the liquid diets and me being afraid to eat anything. I also felt no restriction and I tried every diet on the face of the planet.
To get this process started, I suggest you find a surgeon that takes Medicaid patients and call a Medicaid health representative to discuss this process. It may also help to speak with a therapist about your dealing with food. Good luck to you

I haven’t been through any surgeries yet, but I suggest calling your insurance to find out what their policy is on revision. Good luck!

I agree w @FluffyChix consult all your specialists first and therapists because if you didn't make the permanent changes in your relationship to food w the sleeve - no surgery will fix that. Plus depression and your other health issues can contribute to this perfect storm you are experiencing. I wish you good luck, and you have had some good success, just build on it. You don't mention exercise, add more of that if you can - it helps everything - especially depression.

Honestly? I'd start with my psych therapist and RD to make sure you're on the right diet and have the right meds for the depression/anxiety. With your kidney transplant you can't afford to fork this up. And another surgery will be hard on your new kidney.
You CAN get back into control. Find out what diet your doc (kidney) wants you on. And work with them, maybe even OA (Overeaters Anonymous) and or Greysheeters - overeaters group. They can help you so much.
You can relose the weight you've gained and get down principles that will help keep you from eating emotionally. I'm sorry you're struggling with this.
I'm sure anti-rejection drugs don't make it super easy to lose either. Any decision you make toward a malabsorption surgery needs to have your nephrologist in the conversation cuz it can be really hard on kidneys.

I have an update. Got my letter today from
JFS and I qualify for transitional Medicaid for at least 3 more months! As long as I can carry the same provider, I should be good to go! I may have been all worked up over nothing! (Hopefully).

I just submitted everything to insurance last week and suspect a June date. They said 3-4 weeks for approvals and then 4-6 weeks scheduled after that.

When you started your program they weighed you. That is your starting weight. As long as you don't go over that starting weight I don't think you should have any worries.

Here in CT the requirements differ from each surgeon even though the Medicaid is husky health across the board. Some people say 6 months nutrition plus all of the other check ups. Mine is 7 months of nutrition and all of the different check ups. I go to my psych evaluation on Monday, my 6th nutrition appointment on Tuesday, and do more blood work/labs Wednesday. Busy week. Check the Medicaid insurance provider for your state online. They usually tell you what they cover. If not, call the number on the back of your card to ask about requirements OR talk to a surgeon who has dealt with your insurance and knows the requirements. Good luck!
