    GERD

I actually had bypass to deal with GERD, not weight loss, that is how bad mine was, they said I was on my way to getting throat cancer. So def, go for bypass
  2. I don’t want to be a Debbie downer, so I am starting a new topic, I don’t want all the newbies to read this a freak out thinking this is typical. I am 5 weeks out of bypass surgery and am having major complications. I was told I have a stretchier and ulcer. I am at home with a PICC line, doing two bags of IV fluids a day. Back on a full liquids diet, and struggling with getting that down. And on top of it all, I have not lost any weight in three weeks, no, really, I have lost a total of one pound, I kid you not. Talk about feeling LOUSY. I am really needing a good buddy to chat with. Really someone who can talk about anything just so I can talk to someone else who is going through this. My family is super supportive but I feel like a broken record and they must be tired of it because i am tired of hearing me complain!
  3. I am drinking at least 65oz a day, I will mention this to my Dr. thank you, was feeling so helpless!
  4. I am doing a little better, but please try and remember, you know your self the best, if something does not feel right, then call the doc. Everyone story is going to be different. Let know how your surgery went I would love to talk to you

    Nausea

My nausea turned out to be a stricture and an ulcer. You might want to home up and ask to have an endoscopy. I had my surgery on 14 of September. You really need listen closely to your body, if you are eat thins not you lost, taking certain medications this can have a huge effective in how you feeling so sick

    Never Fear! Mentor Here!

I am sorry to be a Debbie downer, but could really use some cheering up. So I have apparently won the complications lottery! I have now had gale stones, stricture and ulcers. I only had my surgery 4 weeks ago! Omg, I am thinking what the hell have I done to myself? Is this going to go on forever? Plus, I am bake on full liquids!

    Telling friends

I actually had the surgery to deal with uncontrolled GERD, Many people don’t know this but really bad GERD can lead to cancer, my dr told me, have the surgery now, don’t get cancer, or wait and you will get cancer. So this was not a hard decision, however I am over weight, so hey, no cancer AND I will lose weight. It honestly never occurred to me anyone would thing weight loss surgery was a bad thing. I was blindsided by people’s comments online towards patients. Like, what the hell business is it our yours if someone wants to use this really effective tool to lose weight. If you needed pills for high blood pressure, would you say “oh, she is taking the easy way”? So I have decided to tell my immediate family and one close friend. In the end this is up to you. Your friends will either join you, or show their true colors.

    How did surgery go?
  10. No, this is new, I was doing fine up to this morning. The day before yesterday I was in the hospital with pain. The dr. thought I might have passed a gale stone, but of course can’t tell for sure. Now he wants to do an endoscopy to see if there is something wrong with my pouch. After all the tests I went through you would think that they would have a better idea then “well, I don’t know, guess we should take a look”. Wish they had done this while I was in the hospital so I would not have to sit here and worry like a maniac!
  11. [emoji106] sometimes it just feels good to know you’re not alone.
  12. Right now if they said I would never lose another pound, if I could stop this nausea, I would take it! This has been one of the worst days for me so far
  13. I am with you, it is torture to drink protein shakes. I find that fish is a good choice. Lots of protein and pretty easy on the stomach.
  14. My nutritionalist said the only vitamins you absorb thru the skin is D and K, so the patches-are just 20 dollars down the tube.

    Lettuce

This has been helpful, I am not a huge lettuce fan, so really not that torn up, but good to know ahead that it might cause a problem. I guess it would be better to “experiment” at home, just in case
