  1. I am 10 days out from my surgery. I had hernia repair at the same time so am really have an huge amount of pain. Can not sleep at all. Just feeling like maybe this was a mistake and now what. I also have not lost much weight, I started at 210 at the two weeks pre op, and now am only 191. I have the surgery to deal with Gerd, it was bad and getting worse. So it needed to happen but I am just so full of doubt.

    GERD

I actually had bypass to deal with GERD, not weight loss, that is how bad mine was, they said I was on my way to getting throat cancer. So def, go for bypass
  3. I don’t want to be a Debbie downer, so I am starting a new topic, I don’t want all the newbies to read this a freak out thinking this is typical. I am 5 weeks out of bypass surgery and am having major complications. I was told I have a stretchier and ulcer. I am at home with a PICC line, doing two bags of IV fluids a day. Back on a full liquids diet, and struggling with getting that down. And on top of it all, I have not lost any weight in three weeks, no, really, I have lost a total of one pound, I kid you not. Talk about feeling LOUSY. I am really needing a good buddy to chat with. Really someone who can talk about anything just so I can talk to someone else who is going through this. My family is super supportive but I feel like a broken record and they must be tired of it because i am tired of hearing me complain!
  4. Has anybody been dealing with extreme nausea! I am 3 weeks out and I can’t put anything on my stomach without feeling extremely sick to my stomach. I have not actually vomited, but seriously can’t deal with this anymore
  5. I am drinking at least 65oz a day, I will mention this to my Dr. thank you, was feeling so helpless!
  6. I am doing a little better, but please try and remember, you know your self the best, if something does not feel right, then call the doc. Everyone story is going to be different. Let know how your surgery went I would love to talk to you

I only had my surgery 4 weeks ago! Omg, I am thinking what the hell have I done to myself? Is this going to go on forever? Plus, I am bake on full liquids!

    Telling friends

I actually had the surgery to deal with uncontrolled GERD, Many people don’t know this but really bad GERD can lead to cancer, my dr told me, have the surgery now, don’t get cancer, or wait and you will get cancer. So this was not a hard decision, however I am over weight, so hey, no cancer AND I will lose weight. It honestly never occurred to me anyone would thing weight loss surgery was a bad thing. I was blindsided by people’s comments online towards patients. Like, what the hell business is it our yours if someone wants to use this really effective tool to lose weight. If you needed pills for high blood pressure, would you say “oh, she is taking the easy way”? So I have decided to tell my immediate family and one close friend. In the end this is up to you. Your friends will either join you, or show their true colors.

    How did surgery go?
  12. No, this is new, I was doing fine up to this morning. The day before yesterday I was in the hospital with pain. The dr. thought I might have passed a gale stone, but of course can’t tell for sure. Now he wants to do an endoscopy to see if there is something wrong with my pouch. After all the tests I went through you would think that they would have a better idea then “well, I don’t know, guess we should take a look”. Wish they had done this while I was in the hospital so I would not have to sit here and worry like a maniac!
  13. [emoji106] sometimes it just feels good to know you’re not alone.
  14. Right now if they said I would never lose another pound, if I could stop this nausea, I would take it! This has been one of the worst days for me so far
  15. I am with you, it is torture to drink protein shakes. I find that fish is a good choice. Lots of protein and pretty easy on the stomach.
  16. My nutritionalist said the only vitamins you absorb thru the skin is D and K, so the patches-are just 20 dollars down the tube.

    Lettuce

This has been helpful, I am not a huge lettuce fan, so really not that torn up, but good to know ahead that it might cause a problem. I guess it would be better to “experiment” at home, just in case
  18. He said he was going to schedule me for an endoscopy, but that wind be until Tuesday, and I am so afraid I won’t be able to get water/protein in. I just have to be patient, which is not one of my strong suits

    Buddy or mentor

Not losing any weight, but i started at a very low BMI. I had the surgery to deal with gerd, so I was only 210 at my highest, at surgery I was 200. Now I have been 187 for two weeks. I had a hernia operation at the same time so I am still having pain. This morning I had a soft boiled egg and it was Delicious!

    Newbie

I am open for chatting too, had my surgery on 9/14/17. So I am on the mushy stage, still having some pain from my hernia repair and feeling low. I can really use some perspective and would just love to make a few new friends

    Hello, how are you doing?

My nutritionalist said the patches are worthless, you can’t get vitamins thru you skin, exempt vitamins d. So you are going to be low on all the others. Talk to your surgery team and find a way of working around the nausea. This is really important in your long term success. Food cravings can be made worse if you are vitamin deficient.
