Smile and say "of course you are right" You don't need his approval or permission to live an amazing healthy life. Stop explaining.

You should definitely make an appointment and have a discussion with a surgeon. He or she will be able to answer questions and advise you on which surgery is recommended. However, I know I've seen posts on here of people with weight in your range who have had the sleeve.
For what it's worth, my doctor didn't set a specific goal for weight loss for me before surgery--just wanted me to lose some, which I did.
    Good luck!

I think the reality that you now have to depend more on self discipline is creeping in...and you're feeling scared about it. Very very common. Have seen a lot of posts expressing these same sentiments.
How many calories are they suggesting per day?

I think your exercise efforts are awesome for someone who is staring from sedentary.
Keep track of your steps...they really add up. Add a couple hundred more every time you get too comfortable with your goal.
Walking has been a huge part of my lifestyle change.
When I started back in June of last year...I was walking less than 6000 steps a day. And my back, hip and feet were killing me. But I pushed a little more every week.
These days, I walk 5-7 miles every day and often more. My official daily step goal is now 12,000...which I can do in my sleep. I'd upped it to almost 20,000 and my doc told me to cut back and diversify my activity.
Walking changed so much for me. My endurance changed completely. My core strength. My back improved so much. And it really helped my weight loss when partnered with a good diet.
Have had good luck in the heated therapy pool, and doing some circuit training, too.
But mostly...I walk. It's simple, you can do it anywhere. No special equipment needed.
Don't underestimate it's power. Walking is where it's at:)

Best thing is to take this trigger food off your repertoire.
It's wise to NOT chase sugary or sweet foods ... even those artificially sweetened ones.
Stimulating a desire for sugar/sweet is a huge risk.

Its like when I'm on the Elliptical a the gym and a Mc Donald's commercial comes on TV. I'm like... REALLY? Really!?! But then I remember that Mc Donald's is what got me there in the first place. And then I work harder. Bring on those fast food commercials!

Write your food-diary entries as soon as you eat. Stay under your quotas as often as possible.

I would stick with written instructions for safety's sake.

Glad you know you made a mistake and hopefully you are able to push forward without beating yourself up too much.
I would advise you to stay away completely from ice cream for now...doesn't matter how low in calories or sugar they are. You are only 2 weeks post op and it is just too early for stuff like that. Buy a low calorie sugar-free popsicles instead. Sugar-free Jello is a good snack option as well. In order to be successful in this journey, one gotta be super disciplined and exercise self control at all times because it is very easy to slide back to old habits.

Yeah, it’s on his doctors plan! Color me shocked!

I’d recommend avoiding ice creams until goal! I eat them occasionally now... the halo top mostly... but occasionally the real stuff, but not for the first year!

Hi Kay! You have fantastic insurance. The stars have aligned in your favor. I'm 4 days post-op and this was the best decision that I've ever made in my life. I doubt you will be denied. I would love to see you take this journey because you're worth it!

Rainbow_Warrior reacted to Sleeve1stFitNext in Reasonable expectations for loose skin improvements after bulk of weight loss and maintaining ?
Loose skin can improve slowly over time (1-2 years). However, it depends on the activities that you are doing.
I choose to start lifting weights at around my 6th-month mark as I noticed that everything on my body started hanging off. I have noticed that the loose skin on my thighs, arms and stomach are tightening up. However, I will still need a Tummy Tuck and my back done.
You will need to gain muscle and tighten the skin. You can choose the amount of muscle you would like to gain. I have gained about 10 - 15 lbs of muscle. However, I had started lifting before I had reached my weight goal. This, in turn, helped me to lose a lot of fat in areas (breast included) but strengthen the muscles.
The best way to see it is in the maintaining stage (lifting), you will see a change your body's composition. The scale at this point will not do you justice. This is when you will focus on inches, progression photos (comparisons), and how your current clothes are fitting.
If the scale is something that you worry about, then lifting will cause you to have a lot of stress in regards to the scale because you will have to gain to look fit and toned. But remember you are gaining muscle and not fat, so you're gaining the good stuff.
I hope this answers your question a little. Also, a picture just in case you are scared to gain too much muscle.
