    Nice feeling, eh?
My wife has dropped from Size 26 (Aug 2016) to Size 18 (Sept 2017) with the help of a gastric balloon and a style of 5:2 eating.
She's sure a Size 16 is in sight before November!
Congrats ... a good place to be. (Love your smiling ID pic!)

    My Monday update yesterday ...
Currently 15 weeks & 5 days post op ... a.k.a. 110 days. I do my updates of my progress every Monday at about 10am or 11am.
For those of you who use POUNDS, I have averaged 2.75 pounds per week loss since my SLEEVE OPERATION. Since I met my surgeon in mid-July, I have averaged 2.83 pounds per week overall. My BMI is sliding slowly downward.

Have been thinking the same thing..... I’m glad my program prepare me so well. They required an info session, where each possible surgery was explained in detail including complication rates, post op diet and long term changes. A nutrition class was required, as were 2 nutritionist meetings where the stages of the diet were discussed, things like chewing, telling if you’re full, Vitamins and food tracking was covered. They required you to track the food and wanted things like carbonation and coffee stopped pre surgery. Post surgery they follow up with a meeting for each diet stage, an in hospital consult and then regularly for years. The hospital had everyone on the same floor so nurses were experts in the diet and they had very specific requirements for “meals”, walking and getting discharged. Everything is tracked in a big binder we need to bring everywhere and the surgeon, assistance and the nutritionist constantly refer to it and use the same systems so they are in sync. I think it’s about the most well coordinated medical program I’ve seen actually. They also do their own reporting and internal statistics and constantly check you against those to make sure you’re within spec for everything from weight to Vitamin levels.
I suspect some programs are very different, so it pays to show arround and get a top tier center.

    Why not?
If you are keeping your Protein consumption and overall carbs consumption in perspective, you should be abe to include some fresh or frozen strawberries in your diet.

Since you are still early in the process, I would recommend three things.
    1. Take a good before photograph of yourself, so that you have something to compare to after surgery. Many times we are blind to our obesity. We do not see ourselves. Therefore when the weight begins to drop off rather dramatically, we question if this is really happening. Photographs are a good visualization of our success. Many people carry a before and after photo with them, just to remind themselves of their success.
    2. Walk 30 minutes each day, every day until surgery (or equivalent exercise). Walking helps the recovery process go smoothly and minimized the pain levels from surgery.
    3. Wean yourself from caffeine and carbonated beverages now. After I gave up my 6 diet coke a day habit, I suffered from a week of severe withdrawal syndrome consisting of severe headaches and body aches. I was miserable. You don't want to combine the effects of caffeine withdrawal with the effects of surgery.
In answer to your question, I had RNY gastric bypass surgery and lost my appetite right after surgery. A year later it has returned but not near the same level as before surgery. I do not know if this affect of no hunger also applies to sleeve patients. So maybe someone who had the sleeve might enter the discussion.

I am about the norm with everyone which is good to know! My surgery was 10/3 weight that day was 278, my highest was 298, total lost is 78 since surgery 58. Still 46 pounds from goal. I went from a size 24 to a size 16. loss has slowed but my calories have increased and I am able to eat normal kinds of food, except breads, I can’t yet tolerate them. Sometimes I still eat too fast or too much and get sick but that is fewer and fewer. I walk and lift small weights now. All in all I am glad I had the surgery and want to never go back.

I've been on many forums like this, and no matter what the subject matter, people are people. There's gonna be lots of personalities, just like at school, work, and anywhere else people come together.

I also agree with Rainbow_warrior that sometimes written text can be misconstrued or misunderstood. It's happened to me before. Not talking about Peaches thread, but going forward, try to give people the benefit of the doubt. We judge others by their actions and ourselves by our intentions. I think most people on the forum are really nice and helpful. I haven't had any negative experiences (yet!).

If you feel slighted due to someone's comment on the internet, my suggestion would be to shrug it off the best you can. Redirect your attention-- as others have suggested. You can even block people if you want to. But not worth stewing over. Give it a hair flip!

I am 15 weeks, 4 days post-op and I have lost only 19.8kg (43.65 pounds) and that is on he back of swimming at least a mile and a half almost every day since mid-November.
Just do the basic eating and drinking right and try to side-step a little of the pain and anxiety of the other changes in your life. It's too late to focus on buyer's remorse or bad timing. Make the best of what you've got.
Re-focus yourself to make yourself the priority. Be open with your house-guests and family and press them for more support.

    1. Yes. Before and since the op. I have a monthly appt with the practice dietitian.
    2. Yes. And the hospital kitchen staff were very aware of my surgery and my limits.
    3. Yes. I have a folder from the dietitian with (a) an over-arching plan presented to me in July 2017 and (b) monthly updates in print form given my exercise and some useful food favourites and combinations.
    4. Yes. Not so much ounces but volume and density of food AND the order of eating.
    5. Yes. Got all the warnings generally and specifically ... at the pre-op 'lecture' and in written notes from the clinic and dietitian.
    6. Yes. Small Soup. Black tea. Jelly (jello). Skim milk to drink. NEXT MORNING: Protein Drink, skim milk, high Protein yoghurt.
    7. Yes. Very much so.

I don't know which threads you read but I participate in more than a dozen key topics and about 15-20 topics that come and go.
In my six months here, I have come upon only THREE nasty contributors who have all been dealt with quickly and appropriately by the site's owner or his IT team.
97% of posts are positive or mostly 'on-track'.
I just wish more people were articulate and careful with the writing, spelling and punctuation they use.
Manners (specifically, bad manners) are minimal IN MY EXPERIENCE.
Maybe @Jelly Belly , you just need to filter the types of threads you're in if you are seeing negativity and nastiness. If anything is untoward and hurts your feelings, tell the correspondent. If she/he does not change, report it.

You can unfollow that thread or any others you don’t like - in your profile. I agree with @Rainbow_Warrior - the vast majority of people here are trying to help, be supportive. It is easy to get caught up in a bit of a tiff, and I have seen time when someone is misunderstood and it escalates, but it is pretty rare - I reckon it is usually a good idea to move on, for the sake of your sanity...
How is your surgery going - where are you at in this journey we are all on?

Hi I had gastric bypass from sleeve about a year and a half ago. I have had no problems with it. I do still have some acid reflux but that is my fault if I eat too late. I would do it over again. I have had nothing but success with it. As far as after surgery, I felt like since I had gastric sleeve this was nothing different. As a matter of fact to me it was an easier recovery.

Just to note that the original poster said 01/05/17 in his/her post, but his/her info on the side says 01/05/18, which I suspect is the real date.
And for that poster, I'll tell you what my doctor told me originally--don't even think about your weight loss. Just concentrate on getting your Water, your Protein, your Vitamins, and your exercise. I thought that was a bit silly--after all, I had the surgery to lose weight--but I will say that I've had a number of quite long stalls along the way. But I've still lost 71 pounds so far. As someone pointed out, we didn't put the weight on at the rate of a pound every day, so don't expect to lose like that. It takes time and happens in fits and starts, but if you follow the plan, it WILL happen.

Absolutely. I had sleeve surgery 12/28/2017 and I'm so glad I did, even with the difficulties and frustration. My only regret - I wish I would have done it sooner. You deserve to be #1 sometimes and this is your time. You've got the right attitude and focus to succeed. Best wishes. (Great pic, by the way.)

I am doing much better today. My pain is mostly from the gas. I have been able to keep all of my liquids down and have had very little nausea. I haven't felt hungry. When I started to get a little hunger pain I sipped broth or Jello. Things seem good so far.

    Yes, I hear you.
There is an assumption held by a great number of people that all obese (or morbidly obese) people are stupid.
They obviously don't realise that an eating addiction or seriously uncontrolled self-medication with food can cross social strata, mental abilities and the extremes of wealth and poverty.
I was, in 2006 and again a ten months ago in a bad place with my obesity but I hold a double undergraduate degree in History and a Masters Degree in Mathematics. I was not granted them as freebies ... I worked hard to achieve both.
However, there are still the haters and small-minded folk who do the association that grossly overweight people must be academic underachievers.
    Mmmmm.

    Warning bells times two.
    1. I am fortunate to have a WLS package ... the pre-op supervision, the surgeon, the op itself, the post op supervision by an exercise physiologist AND the post op supervision by an experienced bariatric clinic dietitian.
    2. I exercise 29 days per month ... 2.5 to 3.75 hours per day of swimming and pool aerobics.
My calorie intake is set at 900 cals daily with 62grams minimum Protein and serious advice to keep the protein to carbs ratio in the order of 5:3 or, at worst 5:4.
Because of my highly busy exercise regime, I usually need extra calories. I tend to finish each day at 1150 to 1450 calories consumed.
I am in week 15 post op and have lost 1.3kg to 1.4kg average per week. (That's 2.8 to 3.1 pounds).
If she is not experienced with your post-WLS, I'd counsel you to rethink.
If your clinic/surgeon has not provided better info, GO BACK and ask for it.
I am only a single voice but I think you need a different strategy ... I am no expert but I am getting post op help from a range of experts who are "tied" to me for 15 months post-op. That $1000 is well worth it.
