I am right where you are as far as weight loss since the surgery. I lost 42 before the surgery on a 3-month low carb diet followed by a 2-week liquid diet, all required by my doctor. I have lost 37 since the surgery, and I am very pleased that I just crossed over from morbidly obese to just plain obese. If I have a stall in weight loss, I think a day or two of the high Protein liquid diet would probably help me get past it.

And in response to some other comments on here, I have to add that I don’t perceive the majority of what I see on here as bragging. As Walter Brennan used to say on tv: “No brag. Just fact.” We are simply sharing facts about how we are doing.

I remember having a lot of doubts about the lifestyle changes. Would I be able to eat less? Would I survive without fast foods? Would I be able to make better choices? Would I ever be able to enjoy my social activities again without the fear of food?

The answers were all yes, but it’s normal to worry. This was a huge decision for me. My whole life, my culture has revolved around food. But that way of life got me to a bad place physically and health-wise. The changes were necessary and honestly I wouldn’t change a thing. I have been able to get off 4 of the 5 medications I was taking pre-op and that has been worth every penny I spent and every minute of pain/discomfort I felt in recovery.

I wish I knew how much of an emotional roller coaster it was. Overjoyed one minute and bawling the next!

I wish I knew how others would judge you for having the surgery. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!

It has been a little over two months since surgery, down 66 pounds, feeling better, healthier and definitely happier! It has been absolutely wonderful to have to buy new clothes and not have to go to the big and tall section! Granted I have not gotten many new clothes but it is still nice. It is also wonderful knowing that for the first time in a LONG time I will be wearing sweaters and sweatshirts not because I want to cover up my "muffin top" but because I want to be comfortable! I also can not wait to emerge on the other side of winter and not have to hate not being able to hide my midsection anymore. I wish I would have done this MUCH sooner!!!!

So bad! I chew gum constantly and have to make sure I don’t swallow it. I think it’s because I’m so low carb I’m basically in ketosis. I believe that can cause nasty breath. Luckily I’m single!

sigi reacted to FindingCarrie in Gastric Sleeve and Hiatal Hernia Repair
I had my sleeve done on January 17, 2017. I also had a fairly severe hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. I had the gas pains for about 4 days after getting home, and I was back to work full time exactly 1 week after my surgery. I was tired and a bit uncomfortable, but I had no problems going back to work that soon. My recovery has been quite uneventful, and I have had absolutely no problems. I am down 72 lbs at this point, and have about 30 more to lose to be at my goal weight. The weight loss has slowed down significantly at this point, but my eating has also not been perfect. I do still have a lot of restriction, especially if I eat my Protein first like I am supposed to. If I eat things I am not supposed to, like chips or bread, they go down way too easy and don’t fill me up, so I avoid them all together. I have not had caffeine since December, except for a couple of coffee here or there, and I don’t really eat any carbs, other than veggies. No foods with extra sugar, and definitely no candy. I was able to get back to my full workouts about 4 weeks after surgery, and get up at 4am every day to workout before I go to work. I feel great, and don’t regret for a minute the decision that I made to have the surgery.

Inn the pic shown is an older pic of me at roughly 800 lbs BUT, i was 910 lbs on December 10 , 2015 when I checked in to the hospital . I lost 400 lbs in 9 months with diet and very minor exercise. At 510 lbs I had my gastric bypass . I am now under 400 lbs at roughly 395 lbs. I was in hospital for 18 months and now my last 2 months in a rehab center to re learn the basics, like learning to walk again and regain A LOT of muscle mass I lost while bed ridden in the hospital for few months before I started losing weight and was able to move more and more. I also had a massive lymphedema tumor/mass that was in my groin area and weighed close to 200 lbs. So I was disabled due to being severely obese and having a massive tumor dangling or dragging between my legs. It was hell and plus that mass/tumor has crazy ulcers and skin years and everything .I was living in hell, I couldn't do it no more so I finally reached out for help, which I was scared to do also. Anyway that's my story in a basic but shell. I do have a YouTube channel where I documented my journey from early on in my progress but not fully the start. I'm sorry this is happening to you. You don't deserve it.
Many of us struggle to get in enough liquids. I'm three years post op & I still struggle. I used to be able to chug Water. That's not a thing for me anymore. Instead, it's sip, sip, sip, all day long.
    Good luck!

Week-1 liquids. Went to office a few hours self employed.
Week 2 - puréed food. Work full time big tired!!
Week 3 - liquid and some solid foods
Week 4 - liquid and solid. But super careful. Very small amounts and lots of chewing.
I have to be careful about gagging.
