Was wondering....how lmuch of a frozen meal can you eat? Can we eat the whole thing, or just 1/2 cup? I am so confused about this measuring thing.

February 2006 bandsters unite!!
Hey guys....I got my first fill. I was so nervous!!! It was weird. He numbed it with a little needle, which burned a little bit, and then stuck a big needle in the port. He had me stand up while he was holding this big needle out of the bottom of my chest and had me drink a glass of water to make sure he wasn't filling it too much! It was weird! It didn't really hurt though. I am sore there today, but not bad at all. It was alot easier than I imagined. I feel alot of restriction this morning...I got full of of some hot tea...which was a really weird feeling! Hope everyone is going good. still down my same 20 lbs, but hopefully now I will lose some more! See ya'll later!

OK..so I feel like I am totally weird. I am 14 days post-op, and have had no restriction since like day 5. I can eat practically anything. I called my Dr and he is going to do my first fill tomorrow..(happy birthday to me!!) I hope that I feel more restriction. I mean I d on't feel like I even have anything in me..such as the band..the surgery says otherwise, but I swear.....I wish I could feel somthing to make me feel like I couldn't eat! I still am down 20 lbs....but have only lost 2 since surgery. UGH!

The Gone for Good Club
Hi, my name is Stacey Bishop and I am 27 (will be 28 on March 7th) and I live in Spring Hill, TN (south of Nashville.) I have been married for almost 6 years...can't say they have been the happiest, but we work on it. I have a beautiful 2 1/1 year old daughter named Kaylee and she is the biggest reason I decided to get the band!! I also have an 11 year-old step-son who lives with us that is a good kid, he just is really testing us right now!!! I have been the "chunky friend" my whole life. I was never obese in High School, but all of my friends were like toothpicks...so it made me look even bigger. I was overweight but not obese. Then in college I gained the freshman 15 and 30 more that they don't have a name for except stupidity. My husband asked me to marry him the first semester of my senior year, and I knew I was not going to be a fat bride. I lost 65 pounds in 18 weeks. I was down to a size 2. I weighed 107 lbs when I got married. It took about 3 years, but gradually I started putting back on weight, and then when I got pregnant thats all she wrote!! I am an emotional eater...I eat to keep from hurting. I ate in private, binging all the time. Never could hack the purging, but the binging was never a problem. I gained 65 pounds in 2 years. Sooooooo......In December 2005 I decided no more depression, I had to find an answer!!! So here I am banded on March 1st, with my answer! I am down 20 pounds, and am feeling more like me again. I can't wait to meet more of you! 205/185/125 is goal!

Congrats Sherry thats awesome.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my fill moved from March 14th to March 7th due to that I am so hungry sometimes, and don't feel much restriction. So they bumped me up a week. Its only 2 weeks pre-op, but I am sure they know what they are doing! :>

What do husbands think
Gosh...wish my hubby was like the few I have read about. he was not supportive of me getting it done. He likes me skinny but he thinks I should just be able to do it, I have lost it before...why not now??? I said "yeah I lost, but gained it back, lost it again..gained it back" this is a tool to help me keep it off. He still wasn't 100%! Now I have the band and he is somewhat supportive, but he gets pissy because I am not comfortable with fixing dinner for everyone when I can't eat it. And they want fattening stuff not healthy stuff!! MEN UGH!

OMG! What was that?
My doc told me the same thing. I am newly banded and no fills yet, but My doc said that when i do get a fill to do solid lquids for 2 days. And it said that if you PB to go on liquids for 2 days. Just some info I thought I would pass on.

HELP!!! Was in the ER last night
I went to the Er with horrible pains, and they removed my appendix, when that wasn't even what it was. I had a severe infection in my lymph nodes that could have been treated with anibiotics through IV...but they through me into surgery. My appendix was fine, the DR laughed....well guess we don't have to worry about that anymore!! ASS!!!!! Sorry, but it does sound like gallbladder, and you need an ultrasound go see your general Dr and he can get you in for one. Good luck!

February 2006 bandsters unite!!
Mikey and Janet- I think it is so cool that you all are experiencing this together. My husband has never had a weight problem and he totally does not understand. Dancer- I totally understand the whole in-law should I tell them gig. I went through that and my husband told her anyway. Now his whole side of the family knows...grandparents and all...My family doesn't even know except for mom dad and my sister. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins...I didn't tell...oh but now his whole family knows. She treats me different now, and bashes everything I do. She has a weight problem and I think it is just jealousy. Anway......point being....it is up to you who you want to tell...and let your husband know that in a kind but firm way. Or get a muzzle like I should have done with my DH!!!! Sunta- Glad your feeling better. There is light at the end of the tunnel!! Just keep your eye on the prize.....a new skinny you. Good luck girl! Congrats on the 15 pounds, and the 3 gained you know is water...don't sweat it! To everyone else...I love this board......hope to get to know everyone better!

February 2006 bandsters unite!!
I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. Have you called your DR just to check in to make sure this is all normal. I know bodies are different, but if you don't get something in you soon I am afraid you will get really sick and end up in the hospital to get nutrients through an IV. None of us want that!!! Call your Doc or his nurse, and let us know how your doing. I have had the opposite recovery where I feel like I can eat anything....wondering if mine is even in there. good luck and let us know!! My thoughts are with ya!

How long did you do *just* liquids??
My Dr had me on liquids for 3 days and then modified liquids (pudding, potatoes, oatmeal, etc) for 4 days and I can start things like pureed chicken today if I want on day 7. I think I am going to try it...but every Dr is different.....and you need to do what your Doc says..good luck!

Dancing with the Stars
I totally agree. When Stacy got #3 I was in shock. Made me not want to watch the rest. I knew if Drew didn't win, the NFL had to pay some one off LOL!!! No, really I loved Drew, he was so cute...and it made it even better that he won and is gonna be a Daddy soon...what a year for him!

Gain weight to get it
wow.... 17 pounds is alot to gain to get this done. Its not like just 3 or 4 pounds...you could do alot of damage to your body gaining that much weight so fast. Does your insurance pay for a 35 BMI or higher if you have health problems that are assisted by your weight? I had a BMI of 35.6 when I got banded last monday. I had high blood pressure that I was not on medication for yet, and my feet killed me all the time. Oh, and I also have endometriosis which leads to irregular periods, and some Dr's think weight can play an issue in that. If you have medical problems that go alon with your weight I would try that before trying to gain 17 lbs. That is alot of weight. Good luck!

I am having surgery in the morning!!
I hate to write this cause people get all mad when I say this on here...I have actually had people write me hateful things about posting this...but since you asked.... I had a great recovery. I used no pain meds at all (basically cause they tasted nasty) and my pain was not that bad. I had my surgery on Monday morning and went to work on Wed. and continued the rest of the week. I really had a great recovery and still am. The Gas is what hurt me so bad, but it was managable. I think if you tell yourself it is not going to be bad, and you don't let yourself lay around you do alot better. I didn't sleep at all during the day and walked around alot on monday and tuesday. The night time was the worse thing, because I couldn't get comfortable, but that lasted 2 or 3 nights only. This is only my experience, and I realize that not everyone had this experience and not everyone will have this experience, so please don't bash me people when you read this!!! Hope all goes well with your surgery, let us know!!! You'll do great!

Feel l ike I can eat a horse
Thanks everyone. I am still on the "modified liquids" as my doc puts it. The dietician told me that I culd start on chicken or tuna on the 7th day if I was hungry for more food and the "modified liquids" weren't filling me up....so here comes chicken tomorrow...ofcoarse it has to be finley chopped chicken, but it sounds great!!! I am going to follow my diet to a tee now....no more baked cheetos for me!! Today was alot easier. I ate oatmeal and mashed potatoes and that is it....as mushy as you get!!! Thanks for all the great advise guys....I really appreciate it!

Just home after surgery
I am a newbie, and was banded on Monday of last week, but I can honestly say it gets better. The pain of the surgery wasn't bad for me it was the GAS...and still is a little. Don't worry, it will get better!!! YOu have tons of people on here that are proof of it!! HAng in there!

Feel l ike I can eat a horse
Yeah..well he gave me a diet and I had stuck to it to a tee...but my daughter had baked cheetos (which is sooooo not on the list of things I can eat) and I just started shoveling them in. By the time I finally stopped myself I had eaten most of her bag (grab bag size) and now I feel awful for doing it. I am going to be so much better, I gave in to a very weak moment. I have really been beating myself up over it. I just feel so hungry and I think the carb cravings have really taken over today. Do you think I have ruined anything by my 1 mistake today? Gosh I hope not, I can't go back in and get it done again....or atleast I don't want to!!!!

Feel l ike I can eat a horse
I was just banded on 2/20 and feel like I am starving. I ate 1/2 cup portions until today...and then started muching down on baked cheetos. What is wrong with my band, more importantly me!!! Why did I eat 4 whole handfulls of baked cheetos? They didn't phase me a bit, I got them all down fine and had no problems. Is this normal? I have stopped eating and thats going to be it for the night because I know I c an't do this to myself..thats how I got fat in the first place. Any suggestions?
