Having difficutly with finality.....
I have been having trouble with this preband. I look at the way DHand I eat, and how much we enjoy a nice big italian meal on a regular basis, and it makes me sad. No more sitting down and having a lot of warm bread and oil, some cheesy appetizer, a big salad with more bread, and a big Pasta dish, followed by a sweet dessert. All accompanied by abottleofwine. Now Iget to watch him do it, and I get to eat my salad. that kinda sucks. LOL But I just keep telling myself that little saying: "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" And I rememberwhy I am making this choice. Its still gonna suck sometimes, but most of the time I am going to try to maintain a positive outlook.

Just responding to your question BigPaul. Glad I could clarify things for you.

Eating salad??
Pat, that is a good thing!! LOL So those who can eat salads, esp those of you that say "big" salads...how big is big? I know leafy greens look big in the bowl, but when chewed they are reduced to very little. What is the average salad size? And heather...Why can't you eat tomatoes? Is it the acid? Do they get stuck or what? It would suck to give up my tomatoes.

Any brain surgeons around?
I think we have to know what sort of relationship she has with her doctor. Is it strictly business all the time? Or is he the kind of doc that is joking all the time and you can have a lot of fun with. My OBGYN that I had when I was pg with my two babes was a fun loving guy, used to joke all the time, and used to take it to the limit with every patient. But he never crossed that line, even if the linewas different with each patient. It may be that he knew she would not be bothered by a comment like that, and that it was all saaid in jest. this being said, I think that the first stage is for healing, not for losing. Some have even gained during this time. you should be proud of the 8 pounds, and if you need a vice...just remember to do it in moderation.

I am commenting on his Hijacker situation and his issue with a particular LBTer. Not on your discussion. Sorry if I wasn't more clear Jill. I do try to be, but fail sometimes.

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
BigPaul, I am talking about the topic of the thread. Not your discussion that you have brought to the thread. Others are still chiming in on why they think people are leaving and how that makes them feel. No one is discussing your issue of a hijacker anymore. That is what has been requested to be taken to PM. One is a broad discussion, with no finger pointing, and an expression of viewpoints. the other is a problem with a particular LBTer that should remain between you and that LBTer.

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
I think others of us are still discussing issues and chiming in. closing the thread seems a bit drastic.

I need all of your thoughts on this...
After lots of talking with DH, lots and lots of thought, and then more talking (with everyone's comments here added in to my thinking) I am going to do this. Start going to my doctor now and start a doctor supervised diet. On july 1st go into the doc's office for the lapband preop visit and start the insurance process. Do what I need to do, and try to get approved. If I get approved...great. I will go with surgery here. If I get denied after all the attempts then I will take the money we have saved up and go to MX. It will be meant to be. Either way I am in good shape. It will mean waiting longer...But it could mean saving $11k, plus any other fill fees I would have to pay. Thank you all. I still think Dr. Sanchez is a great way to go!! If the money wasn't an issue I would be going with him, but we are buying a house, and need another car, and to replace the one we have now, and that 11k could go a long way to making those things easier!! hugs to all who offered advice. I will keep y'all updated, obviously. Hell, I still don't know yet if my particular ins covers any bariatric surgery. LOL but it is good to think ahead.

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
Well said Diane. I concur. I also wonder why this has all been done on the board, and not in PM. It would have been easy to take of it that way, and it would have prolly solved it all. I know when I have had conflicts with people in the past, sitting down and alking in private was the best way to handle it, rather than trying to bait them or sabotage them in public.

why is YOUR nose bent out of shape?
Something that gets me are customer service people that were hired to help you do something, yet the moment you walk into the store they start griping about their problems. I'm sorry. Did I walk in and ask you "How may I help you?"

I'm terrified and crying
hope all went well Sunta!!! You, and all the others in for surgery today are in my mind, and I am full of jealousy. :scared: It will be nice to have the new bandsters here soon, with stories of gas pains and liquid diets. :welldone2:

Big mouths at work
If anyone comesto you, just smile and say "I'd like to keep that private. No offense, but I just like to keep my medical stuff personal." If it gets bad, go to your manager. It really is no body's business.

Thanks guys. All of those points are well taken. Donali, I agree that insurance is a GREAT thing. I really do love the idea of being covered. it is just so hard to walk away from the expertise and care that people have received from Dr. Sanchez. This is a hard decision. Any more thoughts will be very appreciated. I value the opinions of everyone here on this.

I need all of your thoughts on this...
Alex...can you clarify for me your issues with aetna? Did you have to appeal because your company did not cover it? I am just curious. Is aetna just that hard to deaal with? Or is it that you had to jump some hurdles your company put up to try to keep people from getting the surgery, like dh's company.

I need all of your thoughts on this...
i have the money. at least most of it. I am $500 short, but that is no biggie. I'll have that in the next check. My mx date is for April 28 due to my schedule. If I do not go with that and go with insurance I am going to be saving a total of 11k due to other things I have to pay for and etc.
-
What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
i think there is a real ignore feature. you can ignore aa particular person's posts. at least i have seen other boards with this feature. its a great feature!

I need all of your thoughts on this...
ok...so I started at Nordstrom yesterday. And they have Aetna PPO insurance. The HR manager is checking to see if they allow bariatric surgery. If they do...I am a shoe in. way over BMI of 40. Way over the 100 pounds over weight. A few comorbidities. No problem. Dh's insurance is United Healthcare. Great right? No. All of their new policies they are sneaking in an exclusionary clause for no bariatric or nutrition coverage. So we are not covered. So we have chosen to get my surgery with Dr. Sanchez in monterrey Mx. But now there is the possiblity that it will be covered. Dr. Sanchez is an amazing doctor. He has done a lot of lap bands. (over 5k) And the hospital is a great american owned hospital in one of the most beauiful cities in Mexico. What do I do? If I go with the insurance I can't even start the process until july 1st. There is a waiting period before the insurance kicks in. Do I go for the insurance covered surgery, wait the extra time? Is there anything I should do until then to help make the process go quickly after the insurance kicks in? Or do I go with the years of exp and the many many lap bands under his belt, and the amazing hospital in the amazing city in mx? To some this may be a no brainer on either side, but I am really stuck trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance.
