Too much money for coverage at all?
is it full time work? The bus job, i mean.

A question for Dr.C.. Or anyone that might have an idea.
with the band, in most cases, if you over eat you puke. its something that is very painful to do as well. so you learn quickly to not overeat like that anymore and watch for the signs of being full.

Breasts (women only)
i wear padded bras so that no can tell when it is a bit nipply as for the function less than 2 weeks out...just be really really careful. I was sore for at least a month. Lots of pain, and really bruised still at the 11 day mark. luckily, the drugs i was given made the first week a blur.

because most private insurance companies will not insure an overweight person. you are too much liability. same thinking as why they will not insure people over a certain age. Or someone with a chronic illness or prediagnosed illness. It costs them too much. You can get around that by getting a job with a company that has a health plan. Group policies do not exclude people like that, and that way you are left with just looking for a company who has an insurance company that covers the band.

Too much money for coverage at all?
well i can tell you right now that if you are overweight it will be really hard for you to find personal insurance. And it is damned near impossible to find private insurance that will cover the band. But if you do find it, make sure to let everyone else know. i know a lot of people are willing to pay what you make each month just to have the band covered. Your best bet is to change jobs to a place that has medical coverage and can add you to their insurance.

considering Lap Banding have so many questions?
mexico is fine for surgery, and certainly a lot cheaper. just make sure you do a ton of research before hand. I personally used Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey Mexico. It was the best surgical exp I have ever had. As for fills, you need to make sure you line up a fill doctor before you get banded. That way you have a place to turn to. Fill Center USA is oneoption, or you can call around to the surgeons in your areaand they can tell you how much it will be to go to them for your fills. Check out the fill forum, and the ny forum. They might have more answers for you. Welcome to LBT! Good luck on your journey!

After surgery.. how long are you down?
well, you may spend a lot of time taking it easy, and resting, but you have to get up and move around as much as possible because you want all that gas to start moving through your system. it won't if you lay on your back the whole time. also, you want to move around because you will not be able to get a ton of hydration, and you do not want to put yourself at risk for blood clots.

After surgery.. how long are you down?
I was up walking the halls within an hour of my surgery. I got my kids back (3 and 4) about 4 days after surgery. I would say a week would be good for you, but only as long as you really do take it easy, rest a lot, get your protein and water, and let yourself heal. no picking her up for at least 4 weeks. I have trouble just lifting a 10 pound bag of cat food right now without having pain. And i don't want to tear out my stitches.

drinking water to lose
HAHAHAHAHAHA Omg yes it is true! Fat people can get dehydrated just as easily as skinny people. I think your GP is WAY off on that one. I ended up in the hospital with severe dehydration about a month and a half ago because of strep throat. One day of not drinking, and I was in bed, in pain, halucinating, shivering uncontrollably, and dry heaving. In fact most of the reasons why fat people retain water is because they are more likely to be dehydrated than skinny people. You really need to get at least 64 ounces of water in a day. double that is better for you.

drinking water to lose
signs of dehydration are things like tiredness, muscle aches, stomach cramps, feeling chilly with no fever, lightheadedness, fuzzy mind (not thinking clearly), blurred vision, peeing only once or twice a day, difficulty with bowel movements, the list goes on. These can also be signs of other things, but knowing that you are not taking in as much water as you should be, and if any of these things are happening together, then it is safe to say that you are dehydrated. Don't be afraid of putting on a few pounds to get your body hydrated. It is so important to have your body well hydrated.

New diet i found
I made a pot of veggie/chicken soup, without the chicken chunks. I added the green beans, some potatoes, a few tomatoes (not too many cause i can't take all the acid) and some brown rice. Boiled it up and it was soooooo good. the veggies and potatoes and stuff just turned to mush, so it is easy to eat. I poured it all into a bunch of 1.5 cup containers I got from walmart (pack of 5 for 1.99 i think) and froze most of it. kept 3 in the fridge, and some on the stove for today. That should keep it all from going bad. It was a HUGE pot of soup. I didn't add all the veggies cause i am slowly trying to see what is working with my band and what isn't. this soup works well. I made a pot of the regular recipe before, but did not eat any of the veggies. just the broth.

drinking water to lose
What makes you think that you are retaining water? is it that the scale went up? Because if it did then you were very dehydrated and the reason the scale went up is because your body finally had all the moisture it truly needed. You really do need water. Just keep drinking till your pee is clear or light, and keep it that way.

drinking water to lose
You have to get past the point of peeing a lot. It only works if you give it time. The reason you pee a lot is because the body is replacing all of the water is has been holding on to. Your cells are refreshing themselves. Once your body has removed all of the old water, and the impurities in your body, you will stop peeing so much. You will find your digestion is easier, your skin is healthier, your hair is softer, your eyes are clearer, you will get less headaches, and your muscles will have the hydration needed to work at their peak, and repair quickly after each workout. Trust me. The more water you get in the better. I used to drink a gallon a day. It felt great! I am newly banded so I can't drink that much now, but I notice a huge difference in how i feel everyday without the water.

Fat Ladies Singing?
I am a commercial singer. Been in a few jingles, and was a studio singer on a few albums about 10 years ago. I have noticed a HUGE difference in my breathing and phrases. I have also noticed that some higher notes are wavy, as I still do not have the strength to carry them. I am only 2 weeks out, but it was a shock to me about a week out when we were driving up to NC and I just couldn't single. My DH loves when I sing for him, and he said I sounded like I was killing a dog. LOL that gratitude.

Road to "TWOterville"
I am SLOWLY crawling towards Twoterville. I feel like a drunk trying to walk home. LOL I know I will make it. I got on the scale and I have lost another .5 a pound. that is a total of 2.5 pounds since my surgery on the 10th. slooooooow. but i know it will speed up. i am still nursing a cold i got from being intubated. i think that might be keeping me from losing. i start fish and eggs today, so i am sure with the added protein and the lowered carbs that my weight will start to drop some, and my drunken crawl will sober into a buzzed stagger towards the border.

side sleeping...
I am a stomach sleeper, and slept on my sides the first week. The second week I would start out on my sides, but wake up on my stomach. Last night I went to sleep laying on my stomach. Best night sleep I have gotten since I got the band.

God Bless the hearts of children
My 3 and 4 year old know about the surgery after the fact, and like to check up on my "booboos". When the babysitter came over the other day I was in the kitchen talking to her, and my 3 year old son runs in and say "my mommy has really big booboos!!" When the first "boo" started coming out the shock on this woman's face was just priceless!!

Celebrity Twins...
Ok, he is the first person I thought of when I saw your new pics. Albeit he is a tad smaller than you, and a different eye color, I think you resemble Viggo quite a bit. Could also be because i watched History of Violence last night, but hey...there is a resemblance.
