  1. ...then you'll love this guy! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3133892664245505303
  2. AMEN! LOL really I think we just need to be happy with the choice that we have made. I did research for years on the wls out there, and finally decided on the lapband. I did more research on it for another year after making that decision, because i wanted to make sure i knew everything about it before having it done, and I wanted to pick the right doctor. I know that there are people who go into a doc, or see an ad on tv, and are scheduled the newxt week for surgery and they still don't know if it is the best thing for them. I think that is a dangerous approach. You jsut have to feel comfortable with the choice that you have made. No one knows your body better than you, and that should be who makes the decision for you.
  3. I guess i am the one that had a problem. And i am not really having difficulty with anything. I had two bites of mac and cheese (just your normal kraft cheese and macaroni) and It got a bit of a golf ball feeling. I ate slow, and didn't think the bites were a bad size. It must have just tunred into a ball of nothing. I took a few sips of hot water and it cleared up some. I was eating refried beans with it. nothing else. total meal was approx 1/2 cup.
  4. I can imagine that the harder the meat, the tougher it would be to get it to go down, so I think that cutting your bites into the smallest possible will make it all go well. Personally I am opposite. When it comes to beef, I like it rare. LOL Obviously not the same with chicken and pork. The only food I enjoy really burned is hotdogs. I want my dog black LOL My dh thinks I am nuts, but he always burns a dog for me.
  5. also not local, but wanting to chime in. What was your starting weight and your current weight? 3 pounds a month is obviously a slow rate, but it could be right for what your weight is. there are a lot of variables that go into it. I think Wheetsin is also very right in that you have done a lot of working out. It could be that you have gained a lot of muscle and lost a lot of fat. What size were you when you started and what size are you now? Congradulations on the 31 pounds! Some of us move slowly on this, but at least those are 31 pounds you will not have to deal with again!!
  6. When my son turned 3 we bought him a cake that had a football theme. Green and blue frosting all over it. The next day EVERYONE, in as tasteful a manner as possible, were exclaiming that the color of everyone's bm's were VERY surprising the next day. Until Emily came running into the room crying, and yelling that she had just pooped play-dough. She was mortified. I think it took me about 3 minutes to stop laughing.
  7. My doc does not have me on it forall time, but has told me that it is smart to take something as a buffer before eating anything spicy. I LOVE spicy food, esp these buffalo wings at a restaurant nearby here called the green iguana. mmm mmm mmm. If I am going to have them tho, I have to take soemthing before hand so that my stomach does not become irritated and swollen.
  8. Andy is a little bit of red in his mohawk he is sporting, but it is closer to a strawberry blonde. My husband is white blonde with the hair, and red in the beard, so the kids were doomed. LOL
  9. oh i am always happy to share pics of my brood. DH is Rob, and my daughter is Emily, and my son is Anderson.
  10. Ok, tomorrow is the weigh in day for the Christmas Wish List!!! Make sure you all check in with your new current weight, and I will get them recorded Thursday. Later on today after my work is done i am going to share some of my favorite christmas crafts that I do with the kids to make gifts for everyone.
  11. 152 days till Christmas!!! :jaw: :waytogo: :Banane38: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat: :bananapartyhat:
  12. I concur, I think your doc is mistaking the band with the bypass. This surgery is really not as drastic, although it is major surgery. And you do not stretch your pouch over time. That is a gastric bypass issue. I would think that your doctor would do some research before coming back to you with and answer, but since she didn't I would also wonder why she would not want you to get this problem with your weight fixed before it causes lifelong permanant damage and disease like arthritis and diabetes.
  13. the reason I think the whole article is BS is that they claim that something is better for one group of people, yet they do not look at the overall long term effects. Yes - bypass patients lose more in the first year than most band patients Yes - bypass patients don't have to think or work on the losing like band patients Yes - bypass is probably good for someone who is so obese that they are close to death because of the quickness and ease of losing weight but what about past the 30 days out? What about after the first year? When bypass patients begin losing teeth, and hair, and color, and their eyesight? What about the years that are taken off the end of their life due to malnutrition and permanant damage done to the body? What about the alarming rate at which bypass patients gain their weight back because they are never taught how to properly eat, and their no-brainer surgery basically reverses itself after 3 years? There was no other choice for me but the band. And I am going to work the band to lose the weight as fast as I can, so that in the small chance that I lose it for some reason, I will be close to or at goal with new eating habits and will not have to try any other form of wls.
  14. This is one of my goals too. Not the girl, the outfit.
  15. Just give us your stats, and tell us about your journey! I will get you added to the board.
  16. I think for me, since I was self pay, this was a major question. I could have afforded to go to a surgeon here in Florida, or anywhere in the states. I chose to go to Monterrey Mexico and get banded by Dr. Sanchez because through all the research I could NOT find any bad remarks about him. Everyone loved him, and his team. And the hospital and the guest house! And everything they said would happen, happened to me. The great care, fabulous people, and the caring warm hugs. It made me realize that not only had I made the right choice, but that I wish he was able to do ANY surgery or medical operation I need to have. LOL It was truly amazing. For me the number of bands is also a big deal. Dr. Sanchez has placed over 6000 bands. I don't think there is anyone with the same number out there. Definitely not anyone in the United States that I could find. I was very uncomfortable with that.
  17. I saw it!! I went back a few months ago for a business trip. It was amazing to see the bridge like that! I used to hate driving over the old one. It will be neat to see how they take it down when it is time.
  18. I used to like in kirkland, redmond, bellevue, gig harbor, silverdale, and seattle. I basically did a lot of my growingup there, and rob and I were never happy with where we lived, so we moved a lot. My mom still lives there. She lives on the border of renton and bellevue on the lake. she is very glad she has an air conditioner lol
  19. ok...you are making me miss washington a bit. which beach and which lake? LOL
  20. hehehehe Catfish Paul.
  21. not just the hips. even the fat in your stomach rolls over the top. That is prolly moe for those of us that are near 300 but i look forward to getting rid of the muffin top as well. I can't wait to wear a bikini in public and have people look at me to admire me. Not to laugh lol rob and I have a special vacation that we want to take. It is a romantic train ride through scotland, and it lasts a few days. very formal, and very romantic. I won't do that till I am skinny enough for the very formal gowns, and for the maneuvering through a crowded train without knocking people around.
  22. That is AWESOME!!! Congratz! You are doing an amazing job!!
  23. JP, post it. Now. lol
  24. i blame it all on my husband. he is a pirate looking at 40. or close to that at least. the man is redbeard born again.
  25. here ya go.
