  1. @Stella S Seriously -! I know there's a lot to keep up with for FPs, but bariatric surgery is really having a moment and its borderline malpractice to not put forth some effort to learn the latest.
  2. Husband isnt overweight, but loves it when I go on a diet 'cause he loses, too.
  3. I'm March 14th. Anyone else have a March date yet? @FluffyChix? Yea, I know its a little early, but I'm pretty excited! Lugged my fat **s through the mall today thinking about how much better it would be 75-100 pounds lighter -- and what it might be like to actually shop for myself in "normal size" stores.
  4. Best wishes for safe surgery @Gnat ! Start of your renewal :-)
  5. You look fabulous -- I love reading posts like this, very inspiring!
  6. @TexasMommy80 Run, don't walk to the nearest exit! Wow, what a crappy PCP!!!
  7. @ttampa77 Sorry about the type 1 diabetes -- I have a 25 YO son with same. Its tough! I'm sure your dr understands that you have to treat hypoglycemia, right?
  8. @Road2NewMe raises a good point. There's some "mythology" on line about the benefits and perils of different surgical approaches. For instance, I thought I was going to be RNY because I was dxd with mild GERD during my endoscopy, but it turns out that GERD when it comes with a hiatal hernia is quite easy to fix when you are sleeved.
  9. You really need to get to the root cause of your anemia. I struggled with this for YEARS and it does make you feel lousy, so I'm sorry that you probably feel that way. Its my understanding that iron infusion are pretty dangerous. Vitron C -- I took that stuff for years. Celiac disease is a hidden cause worth considering, and easy to investigate if you are already getting an upper endoscopy pre-surgery. Bariatric vitamins come with and without iron, fwiw.
  10. YOU have a great attitude!! Let us know how surgery goes!
  11. Hope you turn the corner soon, Brandi. Sure sounds like sleep apnea.
  12. Well, that means a lot, of course, but still, he sees the rare problems, right? What about sleevers? My husband is on the fence, but supportive, mom is the opposite. Its hard when people that matter aren't on board 100%. Kat -- I assumed you were a sleever - can you explain why you are going for a GB instead? This is something many of us worry about.
  13. @Kat1969 So... "in the medical field" -- what does that mean? My PCP was a huge advocate for surgery -- I guess she has a lot of overweight, struggling patients that she's seen benefit from surgery. (She did warn me that she has a few that are not happy). Regarding the husband, you are gonna have to throw crazy research and data to convince him, unfortunately. I'm a 37 myself, looking forward to less weight on the joints! @Introversion I'm up 5# in 4 month -- ugh
  14. Yes to what you said. I had a total hysterectomy last year, only my immediate boss knew. Its just...personal, right? (she says on a public forum...) And I absolutely love that you fence -- wha???
  15. My PCP brought up surgery to me first, glad she is in my corner. Regarding people's opinions...I haven't had the surgery yet but I did raise a kid with Type 1 diabetes. The things people would say about his diet, oy! Mainly from confusing type 1 with type 2 diabetes. I'm not planning on telling anyone that I don't have to.
  16. Any chance you have sleep apnea?? It seems to be pretty common with overweight people and is a listed comorbidity. Check your neck measurement -- over 18" is correlated.
  17. An InstantPot means you can get rid of all of the crock pot(s), rice maker, and steamers you have. More room in the pantry for an air fryer!
  18. Fluffy, I think you deserve BOTH!
  19. gotcha, thanks for the idea. File this trend under: who knew? :-)
  20. I was erroneously dxd with CD a few years ago (positive endoscopy, negative blood tests -- its opposite world!!) A second round of tests recently un-dxd me. I did eat true GF for a couple of years -- its is a tough job, not sure it will change post-surgery. But it truly is tough and I wish you all the best!
  21. OK, where to buy? Peeps want to know!
  22. I've never seen the Christmas decorations, but I've heard they are amazing. The landscaping is out of this world in January. I've been a few times -- there is a LOT of walking. Are you staying in a super luxurious hotel on campus, I hope?
  23. It looks like a hard surgery to recover from -- aren't you glad its over for you?? I know I will need it at my age, but I'm not sure I will be brave enough. Will have to hunt down this thread to remind myself how much better my tummy can look!
  24. Good lord, tornado then flood? I'd've been afraid to have surgery with that streak of bad luck!! Are you still living there, or have you moved? Retirement scares me a little -- which is why I am thinking of it as a gap year until I know for sure. I do know I want to work someplace different afterwards, something a little less stressful and a little more fun. As I sit at my desk on a personal forum, LOL.
