Molly1295 I am literally walking a mile in your shoes. I just started this month with my Bariatric doctor. Their is a whole process you have to go through such as weight management (length of time varies with your insurance carrier) psychological testing, sleep apnea testing etc.... before your paperwork can be submitted. I recommend that you do your research, talk to you primary care doctor as I did. My PCH recommended getting the sleeve rather than the lap band. My PCH stated that the sleeve is more reliable and effective than the sleeve. I personally am still thinking about my decision and have up to t he day of my surgery to decide. Reasearch, talk to other people who have the surgery , read about the pros an cons, success and horror stories. Face it head on. Good luck with your decision! Brittiany 1225

  4. Good: Question - Before any type of weight loss surgery (WLS) what was your highest weight? Did you have any medical issues? My apologies if I am over stepping my boundaries for asking such personal questions. By you providing me your answers it will tell me more or less if I qualify for the WLS. My biggest concern, at this point is being denied again! After all, I'm 5"5 weighing in at 227lbs with a BMI of 37.5 I am considered morbid obese. My weight has affected my knees to the point where I require knee surgery. I have already begun seeing my doctor and my required appointments. Has any member of the community weight was around the same as mine? Thanks Brittany 1225
  5. Where do i begin, First i admire you for being completely honest to yourself and willung to confront the truth head on. You really are an inspiration to me as I begin my weight loss journey. Secondly, been their and done the SAME exact thing, so i can sympathize with you. Lastly, you my dear are an extraordinary person for wanting to wanting to live aong and healthy lifestyle. You need to motive yourself to make better choices in terms of eating, excercising and resisting the need to revert to tle old bad choices. You look AMAZING. Can't wait to send you my before and after pics. Stay strong! Many blessings to you....God bless. Sent from my SM-G920P using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Good Morning ZKzave: I fully understand your predicament and your fear of DEATH! In my opinion, DEATH is the end of the circle of what we call life. Since you have a BMI of 52 you are already running the risk of dying. I recommend that you start mentally preparing yourself before the surgery, pray and ask God to watch over you and your loved ones to ensure a positive outcome after the surgery. Also, talk to your family and seek guidance and encouragement. Also, I'm sure you will receive so many positive feedbacks from the members of the community. Good luck and I'll send a special prayer for you.

    Restarting my journey

Good Morning Rylopez: I met with my PCP last night and he recommended that I get the sleeve rather than the lap band. My PCP stated that he has seen too many complications with the band such as slippage, pain etc.... He highly recommended the sleeve and provided me with detailed information regarding the surgery and outcome. Again, I informed my PCP that I will do my research and ultimately make my decision, after all, I have a few months to decide. It's now a matter of following through with all my appointments. On another note, you recommended that I start dieting and exercising to prepare myself for what I am required after the surgery. Great minds think a lot, I've already begun working on my appetite control. I'm not dieting per say but limiting my intake (don't want to lose weight or gain weight) but have control of my intake. As for exercising that will have to be put on hold until after I have my knee surgery on 8/30/17. I injured myself running. After physical therapy ends I can begin to exercise. Enough about me, How are you doing? Were you released from the hospital? when will you be scheduled for your next weigh in? What weight goals have you set for yourself? Mucho Bendiciones Brittany1225

    Restarting my journey

Good Morning Rylopez: Hope all is well with your recovery and your journey. I had my initial consultation for the weight loss surgery and I am a candidate for the surgery. I initially went in wanting the lap band surgery but my Doctor recommended that I have a sleeve done. I wasn't too quick to rush and say yes, but I informed the doctor that I needed time to think, research and then ultimately decided. I have a minimum of 7 months to decide since I have to take a six months nutritional weight loss plan as required under my insurance plan. I am very optimistic that this time around I'll be approved. Hopefully, I can have the surgery in time for my 49th Birthday, it will be my birthday gift to myself. I am currently 5'5 and weighing in at 227lbs and have a weight goal of 140lbs. In the meantime, I will focus on what needs to be done( major life changes) are coming my way which I will accomplish, overcome and conquer as I patiently wait while I complete all that is required of me for the surgery. With all that being said "Me voy en ese camino, con Dios para adelante". Brittany1225

    Restarting my journey

Rylopez: I am happy and excited for you as you begin your new journey. As for me, my journey begins tomorrow. I am fairly new to the site (only 2 days) and am pretty nervous. Tomorrow, I have my consultation with the doctor to determine if I qualify for the surgery. Let's hope my insurance will approve me. I will continue to follow you and provide you with all my positive energy, prayers and Buen pensamientos. With all that said. Eat healthy, rest and recuperate. Regards, A new friend
