  1. 2 weeks of protein shakes and you can have a salad (no meat cheese, etc...) just veggies with a spritzer or steamed veggies. It was not to bad-I did get hungry though. Psych eval was very easy-took a couple of hours and done. Surgery was very quick. My surgery was at 11 am and I went to recovery room, then to xray for a barrium swallow and was back in day surgery by 1:30. I was home by 4pm and I had a 40 minute drive home. Dr Rodriguez was my doctor. Things are going good, I just had surgery 4/2.
  2. Heparin shot the day of surgery, then Lovenox 7 days post op.
  3. I am right there with you. Banded 4/2 and the gas pain is killing me. No bowel movement yet-just gas. Nothing has worked for me either. I am up and moving, used Gas X strips, Gas X chewables, and tried warm liquid. No relief. I dont feel horrible though-just more tired than post op day 1 & 2.
  4. I was self pay also $13,400 covered all cost for surgery and fills for one year. Only been banded since yesterday so cannot comment yet on how I like it. Surgery was not difficult and I would definitely do it again if the end result is better health and a skinnier me!!
  5. I am not in the Army or and Armies wife but I did have my surgery at Scott & White in Temple. Is this where your surgery will be? If so they do require a 2 week pre-op diet.
  6. :bolt: Yes, I have freeze pops.
  7. Oh definitely with meds! No other way. My little Gas X strips and Lortab have been wonderful.
  8. I am glad to know someone else banded on 4/2. I have more pain today. I woke up about every 2 hours last nigt. It does hurt-its just not as bad as I had expected. I had a breast reduction six years ago and it was much worse. Keep me updated on your progress. Good luck.
  9. I am not sure how long the actual procedure took but they did take me back at 10:30 am for an 11am start time. I had surgery, went to recovery room, and went to xray for a barium swallow and was back in day surgery by 1:30. Seems like a lot to do in a short time so I am guessing the surgery was the longest part. Freez pops??? I dont have them. What are they?
  10. I had my surgery at 11am on 4/2 and was home at 4pm (that includes a 40 minute drive home). I feel great. Lots of gas pain yesterday and today the incisions hurt some-but nothing too bad. I keeping reminding myself I asked for it and how much I still want it so that really helps with the pain. No hunger at all so far so that makes the Clear liquids easy.
  11. My surgery was at 11 today. Got home around 4 and feel really good. I am so excited that is done. Have some gas pain and really dry throat and mouth but other than that I am doing great.
  12. Hey Kat I had my surgery today too. I hope yours went as well as mine did. I know you are excited because I am. Good luck with your band.
  13. I was banded today and I feel really good. Not too much pain. I told DS it was nothing compared to natural childbirt. I have had a dose of liquid lortab since getting home about 4pm. My biggest complaint is my mouth and throat are so dry and nothing seems to help. I am really glad I did this.
  14. What movie is that off of? I just have to say that I am very new to this but have already found this board very helpful in learning things I may no have known, easy my fears, and letting me know what to expect.
  15. Hey smgallop I am in Texas also and being banded on 4/2. Good luck!
  16. I agree do the measuring tape. It sounds like you may be gaining muscle which can cause you not to lose but tone and the measuring tape should show that.
  17. I got some chewable Calcium Citrate with Vit D from Bariatric Advantage and they taste pretty good.
  18. I am not far from you. Who did your band? I am be banded on 4/2/08 in Temple at S&W.
  19. I have a friend who was banded in Feb 2007 by Dr. Symmonds and has had great results. She loves her band and just watching her has made my decision easier. I am using Dr Rodriguez at Scott & White.
  20. I have Scott & White and they wont pay for anything related to weight loss surgery. Sorry. I am going to self pay-surgery 4/2/08!
  21. I am getting banded on 4/2 also!! I am in Texas.
  22. Good luck to you also, I know how excited you are. I cannot wait
  23. Thanks for the encouragement bullpen87 and losingjusme. I am ready for the new me!!
  24. Hello, I am new here. My band date is 4/8 and I have started to get really nervous and question my decision. I came here to get reassurance and so glad I did from the stories I have already read. I am still nervous but now once again excited about my decision. I am self pay so it was a very hard decision.
