    FlyFatA$$Fly got a reaction from ThickGirl5683 in Down 70lbs!
Yesterday I hit the 70lbs mark at 166lb! I started 12/13/16 on my 6 month diet, and was sleeved 8/10/17. I’m 16lbs from my goal weight.
I had to go jeans shopping this week as even my “small” jeans were too big. I was wearing 38 waist last December, and now I just bought 30 waist! Crazy!

I'm 3 months post VSG, and can eat just about everything BUT I don't. The amount I can eat has increased. A month ago I could only eat 2oz,and now I can eat a whole 3.5oz [emoji23]. For me surgery was an extreme step, and I considered it the last. So, I will not go back to old habits. I eat Protein first then if I have room veggies. If I need something sweet I have some halo top, but I make sure I stick to one serving. I do get hungry every 3 hours or so, and try to eat 5-6 small meals a day.

Before surgery I loved food, and always craved different foods all day. I'd see fast food commercials and want that food. Now I just don't care, and when I see those commercial they almost make me sick. I eat when I'm hungry, and for the nutrients. It was a difficult adjustment, but it's great now! Food is no longer the center piece of my life, and I feel free!

Listen to your body, you might fancy trying a sandwich but your stomach might think otherwise and will let you know. I’m like everyone else in that I eat Protein, veg then a few carbs, but I do have a glass of wine now and again or a low calorie g&t. Only a small one and it takes a couple of hours to drink it 😂. I struggle to eat more than 800 calories a day so I make sure it’s the things I really like but also doesn’t have many carbs. I don’t care if I never eat another sandwich if it means I can feel like I do now, I feel normal, I feel healthy and I feel proud and I pray each day that I will keep loosing. 😊

I've been to three celebrations where cakes were served post op. I've posted this before, I don't enjoy food. Pre op food and I were the best of friends. I have no desire to eat anything much less sweets. For me it's a very strange feeling since i always wanted and did indulge in food. To those who still crave the sweets and fight the temptations I salute you. I don't know if I could be as successful as you if I still had those cravings.

So, no judgement here--just an observation--cuz maybe you haven't thought about this yet...In the early days of research I was like you...dayum! Am I gonna have to break up with mah food? Cuz, you know, I'm not jiggy with that! And now, because I've had a Vulcan mind-meld or shift in the tectonic plates or something, I'm like, "DAYUM!!! I can't WAIT to be satisfied eating tiny portions and btw, I hope that lasts forevs!!!!
Cuz, think of the food savings! Right? Think of the decrease in metabolic disease cuz of natural calorie restriction. One thing I look at is I watch skinny peeps eat. Most of the ones I know, eat very "thin-like"-- super healthy, small portions, small servings of carby shenanigans...and I'm like. I WANT that!!! I want to eat like them.
So, maybe along with your research, maybe you will consider beginning shifting your relationship with food. Will you still find joy and pleasure in a good meal? Sure! Why not!? Life is made for happiness in all areas. You just won't and shouldn't super-size it any longer!

I learned a valuable lesson last night. Eating on the run in your car is a no-no and almost lost it last night and vowed never to eat on the run again. You forget to slowly chew your food and wolf it down like you used to when gaining weight.

Pretty sure the "eff it, I'm not gonna live with rules" is what most of us did prior to gaining the weight that landed us in the surgical suite.
The world we lived in during our development as a species... it's not the world we live in today. Our biological programming has no idea what to do with all the readily-available foodstuffs that are concurrently devoid of nutrition.
food. Taste good. Eat. Need nutrients. Eat more. Need nutrients. Eat more. Need nutrients. Eat more.
If the problem was with us, individually, it wouldn't affect 70% of Americans. It's a society-wide problem. So, what to do?
We each have to figure out a system that works for us that will nourish our bodies while allowing us to maintain our desired weight. In other words, to become healthy amidst a sea of junk food.
Bella, you feel eating doughnuts in line ..... (for real?) ..... is the answer. Hey, we each have our own row to hoe, and I wish you well on your journey.
Sleeve or no sleeve, I could easily polish off a dozen doughnuts in fairly short order if I let myself go there. Sugar is basically toxic to me. At least when I used to eat it, my brain would take a nice little vacation...

I am a long time fan of Tolkien, and before I was married my online persona was always missbaggins. I over-identify with the hobbits, and have long considered myself a third-cousin twice-removed to the halflings. Short, round, rather obsessed with food and homely comforts. When I got married, of course I couldn't remain 'miss' anything, so I changed it up to MrsGamgee. The funny thing... if I had to say my husband was any sort of Tolkien creature, he would be an Ent (one of the tree-herders).
