GeTnBackuP got a reaction from AmiLou in 5 Year Bariatric Failure - Please educate me on the basics
Can you please tell me what’s going on with your legs? I’m 3 years out and the pain becomes excruciating some days. It started in March 2021 & the doctors haven’t been able to figure it out yet. I just now had an MRI, waiting on those results…. 🙏❤️

OMGosh pls just get it taken out soon. Clearly it’s necessary and best to do it sooner than later. I had mine taken out at the ER as the absolute worse pain ever, bent over writhing type pain, must have been hilarious as I drove myself, ran into the ER threw myself on my knees begging for relief! It was far prior to my VSG and laparoscopic and recovery was so easy for they removed a diseased organ opposed to stitching one up (your stomach). They only alterations to your diet will be how you tolerate dairy and fats and at least for me my body still likes to mess with me because some days I can drink heavy cream in my coffee with no intestinal distress, other days I get mild cramps to a dash to the loo. Definitely a balancing game many days but far better to deal with than the almost daily pain I was having and the final explosion of absolute abdominal misery! And since you’ve had the sleeve you already know how to recover only this will be far, far easier! Just do it. No need to wait it out any longer, your body doesn’t need the added stress of an infected or burst gall bladder. You’ll be fine. Best of luck.

This is a very interesting topic, thank you for all of the great responses. For me, when I was 14, 15 years old I was thin and athletic, typical cute teenager. I had a sister that was eleven years older and I ended up living with her. All of her older friends and their boyfriends came to our home frequently. The men all perved on me (this was not welcomed or reciprocated) and all of the girlfriends hated me for it. Not for anything I ever did but for how I looked and how their boyfriends reacted to me. I ate and ate to stifle the rejection. Years later I saw one of those women that was so mean to me and she said “you’re fat now so I dont hate you anymore”. This experience ruined my young life in so many levels. Yes, through the course of my life I’ve picked up other baggage to emotionally eat about but I have finally done the couch time with therapists to get to this point. My surgery is in nine days and I am looking forward to feeling better about my appearance and getting physically healthy. People are cruel for a variety of reasons, we’re all sick. It’s my time to let it go and stop taking it out on myself.

I am a woman and I cannot relate. But, everyone has that one thing that they have to adjust to... you think that loosing weight will bring you nothing but joy. No one talks about the saggy breasts that might as well be "tennis balls in tube socks" or how a man's balls don't feel right resting on a chair.
I'm glad we have these problems though

GeTnBackuP reacted to KathyHayles in Anyone with no hair loss after 3 months?
I was good up until about 4 months, then started losing a lot. I had Bypass surgery Oct 10. I have steadily taken in a lot of Protein with Unjury and Premier Protein, as well as lots of chicken, cheese, eggs, etc. I have lost a lot in two months. I also took Biotin from the beginning and two months ago started on another product that has horsetail product in it, etc. Still lost hair. I believe it is finally quitting and I am at six months from surgery today. My hairdresser said it is coming back in, but it is very thin and I have always had thick hair. From what I read there is not much you can do about it except take some supplements. I am very good at taking my bariatric Vitamins and Calcium 3x a day as well. I think it is just part of the surgery.

Yep. The hardest part for me is slowing down to eat. I have eaten quickly ever since my daughter was little (she is now 31 years old). I still eat with a baby spoon to help me slow down. I get way too full too fast, so I know I still need to eat slower and chew much longer than I do. Hardest habit I've ever had to break!

    Hello there!
You are about to have surgery and it's scaring you to death? You are thinking you made a mistake? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
You just had your surgery and you feel like crap? It's hard to swallow and you ache all over? You wish you had not done this? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
You're recovering from surgery, but the restricted diet is driving you up a wall? You'd like some assurances that there are things you can eat that won't make you bored senseless and/or nauseous, and if not, comforting words that this will pass and the next stages are better? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
It's been a few weeks since surgery and you're worried you're not losing as much weight as other people? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.
It's been two or three weeks since your surgery and you seem to have stopped losing weight entirely? You maybe even gained a few pounds? Yes, that is normal. You will be okay. There are many threads about that. Have a look.

It is totally cool to ask about all of these things! It's totally cool to worry and want some nice people to give you advice and tell you that you are not alone. Post anything you would like. But you can also take a few minutes and read some of the earlier posts. You should totally do that, too, as a) it will give you more answers to the thing that is bothering/scaring you more quickly and b ) it will help you see that you're not alone and there are nice people here who have had the same or similar problems and they turned out okay. Also, by posting your worries in the pre-existing threads, you will make the top of the forum less scary to other new people, as there won't be a half dozen posts on the same problem, just a few longer ones with lots of support and answers already in place.
The forum didn't open this morning! Don't discount how much you can learn by reading what's already here. You are going to be okay. Settle in and read stuff. It will help, I promise.

Can I ask your height, weight and BMI stats? Im 5’2” was 41 BMI and was finally diagnosed with severe sleep apnea which allowed me to be approved at 35 BMI. That’s when my surgeon asked me to drop 10-15 pounds. Everyone at higher BMIs lose faster and reading your post kinda makes me sad that I’ll lose slow too. And, what is fluffy fat???

I can relate. I had a gain in my third year. I just got my weight back down.

GeTnBackuP reacted to LittleLizzieLilliput in When to expect stalls?
Individual per each person, and even while you’re in the middle of a stall – which I call a pause – you can still make a lot of changes in your body. All the working out you’re doing, walking your 10 K steps a day and following the protocol, you continue reshaping your body and then the pounds will drop off again.
Also just make sure you were keeping to the protocol. I’ve gone months without losing a pound and yet dropped three clothes sizes.
The scale is only part of the journey. If you put too much importance into just your weight-loss then any stall is going Is going to be difficult for you to deal with. You have to understand that even while not losing a pound, if your keeping to the exercise, you are converting fat into muscle which weighs more. If you’re not following the protocol then you may hit a stall that lasts a long, long time.
I originally weighed about 375 and I currently weigh 150, i’ve spent more time in pauses than I have actually losing weight. it was a long hard journey but I just kept at the protocol. Focus on your Water at 60 ounces, Protein at 90 ounces, walking 10,000 steps and finally your Vitamins. Pauses happen, at any point in time for anyone, but if you keep to your goals each day and just keep working towards them... you’re going to feel great regardless.
