I'm on Amazon looking for things to stock my pantry with & saw Progresso canned Soups and wondered if I can take their Split Pea Soup or Italian Wedding Soup and whizz the crap out of it in my Vitamix and it be acceptable for pureed stage?
I'm looking on this site for recipes and am having a hard time finding any without reading/scrolling five pages in....I know we're all well intended but the posts sometimes get off topic or bulked up with other things....thank you!

All I can say is WOW WOW WOW THANK YOU Your stats are blowing me away. You are all so amazing and I want to be a part of your losers club!! Your commitment and suggestions and gentle direction are exactly what I need to read to keep this thing going. My surgery is 10/17 and some days I'm smooth as silk and others I'm a freekin basket case and I can always find exactly what I need here to pick me up when the stress of it all gets me down.
What a lifesaver this place is. Thank you and happy day

So I'm 22 and have never been on a date before. I decided to try POF (online dating) and have guys messaging me now. I've been interested in a few and they always ask why I'm single. I like to be honest so I tell the ones I'm really interested in that I was shy and overweight most of my life (or something like that) and that I recently had VSG. Some take it well, others don't ( I don't really care lol)
My problem is that this is completely uncharted territory for me, and I'm just not sure how to act. I don't really want it to be obvious that I've never dated when we go out. Because I have no idea how to be with someone as more than friends.
It's bad enough to deal with that, but I'm also hesitant because I have quite a bit of loose skin. Most guys in their 20s aren't used to this being an issue. It has become my biggest insecurity now. But I don't want that to hold me back either...
Any advice for me? Anyone else experience this?

    @@Steph0625, one other thing.
If you come across someone who sounds meetable, but there is any geographic distance, he's the one to make the trip. This is a subsection under "choose a meeting place that is comfortable for you." If you're in Houston and Mr. Fortunate is in LaGrange, let him make the trip. Your comfort level and peace of mind when meeting strangers come before anything else.
    Have a good night.

Purees still need to meet your nutritional goals, so no you can't just blend anything. Protein first.

That is your first step, grasshopper.

Get your house in order. Love yourself. Do what's best for you. Make YOURSELF contented beyond your wildest dreams FIRST.

All of these things produce a light inside you that shines brighter as you progress and it attracts light as well.

You will have your pick AFTER that...you can get what you want, not just something to hold on to.

And that's the straight up truth.

    Agree in the most part.
I come here and read opinions and anecdotes. Most are absorbing and inspiring. However there are some extremists and very strongly held 'outlier' views.
I try to be careful, ingest the thoughts they have and divide by the number of outlying opinions.

    (Picture at: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/my-latest-love-fruit-infused-water/)
A lot of sleevers have trouble ingesting plain Water at first. So we replaced our old water habit with a Propel zero and G2 habit. But by the time you drink the fake sugars in 64 oz of those a day, it’s not really all that great for you is it?
So I resorted to making fruit-infused water. It’s really so easy I want to kick myself for not trying this before. At first I thought I needed fancy equipment but it turns out, you really don’t. Sure you could buy one of the cutsie bottles with a core made specifically for infusing fruit. Or you could do what I did, which is take a big ole Rubbermaid jug, put in some water, and throw in some fruit. Voila! Fancy schmancy fruit infused water! See my low-tech version in this picture? Don’t pour the fruit into the glass like I did, that was just to make it pretty, just for you Leave the fruit in the jug.
My first “recipe” was half a lemon, 1 lime, and 1 orange sliced thin into 64 ounces of water. I put it in the fridge for 2 hours and it provided a wonderful tang to the water, with no fake sugar. I was happy to discover that it “sits” well with the sleeve too. Each time I pour out a cup, I fill the jug back with water. Three days from the day I first made it, I will pour it out, throw away the fruit, and start over.
Here are some the combinations that I think I want to try
Peach & Ginger Orange & Mint Peach and Sage Blueberries & Watermelon Cucumber & honeydew melon Raspberry & lemon Grapefruit & Mint Orange & Rosemary Pomegranate & Lime Apple & Cinnamon stick Ginger & Pear Blackberries & Mint Mango & Ginger Watermelon & Basil What combinations sound good to you?

Massively simplified from Cook's Illustrated's Best Light recipes (The fav cooking magazines of geeks all over). Spicy, flavorful and high Protein.
    Ingredients
8 c low sodium chicken broth
1.5 lbs chicken with bone but no skin
1 large onion peeled & quartered
4 garlic cloves peeled and crushes
    10 springs cilantro
    Salt
2 medium tomatoes cored and quarteredl
    1/2 jalapeno
1 canned chipotle chile in adobo sauce + 1 tsp adobo sauce (must have. It comes in a can, ask the grocery store folks for it.)
    1 tsp veg oil
1 fresh lime or some lime juice
    Method
    1. Combine broth, chicken, half the onion (quartered). half the garlic, cilantro and salt. Cook on medium-low for 20 mins or until the chicken is tender. Debone, put the whole thing into a blender and puree well.
    2. Put the remaining onion, garlic, tomatoes, japaneno, chipotle chile and sauce and mix in food processor until smooth. Heat pan, put in oil, and start browning this mixture. Stir often, and in 10 minutes, you will have a luscious, smoky mixture to die for.
    3. Pour in your blended broth with all the chicken goodness and cook the two together for 15 minutes until it's all blended together and the flavors mix.
    4. Squeeze fresh lime juice right before you serve.
    5. if this isn't the best, easiest tortilla Soup you've ever had, send me the competing recipe!
Serves 6 regular people, probably 10 sleeved people.
Protein: 16 grams in each of the 10 cups (2.4 oz of chicken baby!)

My doc wanted me to lose 10 pounds and I followed Bariatric Fusion's Liver Reduction Diet. I printed out their pdf and hung several of them all over my house! Its 3-4 Protein Shakes (their Orange and chocolate are tolerable- we have to remember it's a Protein Shake and not a meal! I made them with ice and non-fat milk = kinda milkshake-y ) and SF Jello, SF pops (tropical flavor!!) and homemade broth, V8 and low sugar cranberry juice. I lost 13.5 pounds! I had a few cheat days with roasted chicken breast and steamed veggies but overall I got used to it. I whined a bunch, work was sometimes frustrating and the cravings got insane at times but I kept my eye on the prize and I did get used to it. I went in a few weeks later and he was very pleased with the loss. I got submitted, approved and scheduled within three days!
You've come so far at this point. stay focused on what you want: slimmer happier healthier lighter (insert adjective here) and two weeks will fly by! Good luck to you!!

Thanks Jess- actually I meant recipes for broth mostly- I seemed to tolerate that really well when I had my gall bladder out (although I hear peoples tastes change after the surgery so who knows....)

icky! Drug reactions can be nasty at times. I vomited all over the place with the first shot of morphine in the ER for my gall bladder. It killed the terrible pain but I got so dizzy and sweaty and up it all came. Lightweight !
Surgery is Tuesday and my son can pick me up but he has to work the next day. He and his brother will be back on Thursday/Friday so it looks like Im on my own for a day or so....

Not sure I used any recipes, just drank clear liquids--broth, Water, G2 Gatorade (low sugar), crystal light... some people do sugar free Jello and popsicles.

I need to lose 130 according to bmi charts. My doctor thought the high range on bmi would be too low for my frame. We agreed to target 100 lb loss then reassess.
when I lose 100' I will be the smallest I've been in over 20 yrs. I'm not going to obsess about the last 30. Just see where my body decides to settle and I can maintain comfortably.

    HI, IKR??
One day is all I got too, then I was mostly asleep for 4-5 days at home. I really did need help for the first day or two, then I could fend for myself. Stock up on Water and easy to grab stuff that you can reach easily if you don't have a helper.
It is exciting to have your date!!
