Well first congratulations. I'll let the ladies give you suggestions cuz I'm not very good at that. But from a guy's perspective you look wonderful. Spend the time now to get as good as you can get and then forget about it and enjoy the process. You look wonderfully beautiful and sexy. And he's a lucky guy and he knows that. Don't let the little things bug you.

Oh my gosh! Thank you all so very much for the positive words! I really needed them! I can't thank you all enough. Your kindness means the world. I'm going to call my doctor today regarding the hiatal hernia. Your weight losses are so inspiring. I hope I do as well as you all are doing! Thank you again.

I would say this is the best decision I've ever made. I had minimal pain, no problems getting my fluids down, and no problems eating. About 2 weeks before surgery I was very nervous as well but I met some of my surgeon's other patients in the waiting room of his office and they share their experiences with me and it helped a lot.
Everything will be fine! You will be fine! Even better than fine.

Hello, I am starting my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and my surgery is scheduled for 2 weeks from now. I've been reading some of the posts and they are really scaring me. I was nervous before but also very excited about changing this part of my life. Is there anyone out there that has had a positive post-op experience? Also, is it true that if you have reflux prior to surgery that it will get worse after? Thank you so much.

I strongly doubt it. I shared some similar concerns with my surgeon and she said they like to see weight maintenance or loss from the initial visit, and that month-to-month fluctuations aren't usually considered in the decision. After all, weight can be affected by any little thing. Traveling makes people retain Water, maybe you didn't poop that morning, etc. Of course all insurances are different so maybe you can call and get some peace of mind, but I truly don't think it will matter. 35 pounds is amazing!!!!

How are you doing, @Brandi.? I would love to read an update from you if you're able. I hope you were able to get some help over the last couple of days and figure out what's wrong and get some relief. We're rooting for you.

    Ok it's tough love time...
It's time to see a doctor. If the hospital that you had your surgery is close by go there..If it isn't go to the local ER and they can transort you there if necessary...
DO NOT LOOK FOR MEDICAL ADVICE ON ANY FORUM.
The complications of this surgery can be fatal. Even something as simple as dehydration and malnutrition from vomiting can be fatal...
    Run don't walk
From mother to mother..please go now.

Hi Ladies, I am 53 and had my Gastric Bypass on 12-1-09 when I was 45. It was the best decision of my life. I have always followed the rules. Not eating and drinking at the same time, I never finish a meal, I do my best to eat healthy foods over anything else. I don’t eat sweets and only drink Water. Maybe once a year I have a coke. But not often. I do have the saggy skin, but I don’t mind it since I am 170 pounds smaller and have managed to keep it off. I am always open to talking to anyone who wants advice on how I have managed to keep it off for 8 years. I never want to go back to that person I was before. So I stay focused on what I eat and how much I eat. You can succeed, it had to be a lifestyle change. It’s not easy, but it is possible! Make your mind up to do this for yourself! I still don’t see myself as “skinny” even though im much smaller. It’s a mental battle. But I love my life and have no regrets!

Hi everyone! Here's a new twist on an old subject matter - a bad breakup. I was happy, healthy, losing weight and working out. I had lost a solid 67 lbs since my June 14 surgery, had a great boyfriend and was really doing well.
Then, on December 26, my BF and I broke up. It was sudden and I was absolutely blindsided. I moved out of his apartment and moved in with my bestie and her husband in CT, away from my job (which I lost), my neighborhood, everything that I know.
The old Diane would be drowning her sorrows in Ben and Jerry's, crying and eating. The new Diane? She can't do that. She can't even eat ice cream because post surgery, she is lactose intolerant. She can't eat chips and dip, or go to McDonalds and get fries and a shake, she can't eat a lot of sweets, she can't drown her sorrows in food, she can't eat her emotions. And, she can't drink alcohol, because she's a freaking lightweight again, like a 14 year old girl at her first kegger.
    Damn it.
But here's the good thing - the new Diane went to the gym and decided to get serious about working out. She is pushing herself harder than ever. She goes for an hour a day and REALLY works out, climbs the Stair Mill, takes a class, does 200 squats in the evening, does a lot of cardio. Why? Because she's in pain and needs to channel that pain somehow and also because SHE CANNOT EAT HER FEELINGS.
Why am I telling you this? Because I want you all to know how your relationship with food will change once you have this surgery. You learn to channel your emotions differently, you learn that food is not always the answer, you learn that alcohol won't solve your problems. Food and drink change post surgery. You have to learn to deal with your emotions instead of running to your comfort food or drink. And it sucks. It sucks big time.
Instead of gaining the post breakup 10 lbs that I normally do, I've lost 10 pounds. Maybe too much for me to lose in a couple of weeks. I had no appetite and I struggled to eat. But better to lose than to gain, to overeat, to push my stomach to full over and over again. I couldn't do it.
So I'm now 20 lbs to goal instead of 30, and I've lost 218 lbs too (that's how much my BF weighed). He was a good guy and I will miss him, but things happen for a reason. And this was a good lesson for me to learn.. how to deal with strong emotions without the comfort of food.
I think we all know that food isn't always our friend. We need it, but we don't need to be dependent upon it to get through some tough times. I am still crushed and hurt, and I miss him, but I really don't miss the food hangover that goes along with a bad breakup. Silver linings....

As of this morning I am down -200 pounds since my sleeve surgery on November 9, 2016.
That's a little shy of 15 months. Starting at 470 lbs I am 270 pounds right now and would like to lose 30 more.
If anyone is on the fence about getting this surgery done, please just do it.
It's been a pretty easy road for me and I'm grateful about that.
Here's to the next 30 and goal weight!!!!!

If you come across someone who sounds meetable, but there is any geographic distance, he's the one to make the trip. This is a subsection under "choose a meeting place that is comfortable for you." If you're in Houston and Mr. Fortunate is in LaGrange, let him make the trip. Your comfort level and peace of mind when meeting strangers come before anything else.

Hi all, quick update, I am close to my 10th month post-op.

I was VSG’d 03/10/17, HW: 405, SW: 385, CW: 230. My goal weight is 190.. It is very hard to shed last 40 lbs, it seems to be attached to my body LOL.. I am very thankful to this process; it is definitely a great tool. However, it is 50/50 we need to engage the other 50% and battle every day with our old bad habits. I am satisfied with my weight loss, but really wanted to lose more weight by now, I hit stalls 3 times, and they last for weeks.. I don’t even look at the scale, now is my enemy (LOL) , instead I rely on clothing and noticed I am losing size… I increased my workouts the last 4 months, I do 4-5 times a week (1.5-2 hrs), I split weight training and HIIT. Now I am working really hard on core workouts.. I hope I can meet my goal by March 1st,
PS: pardon quality of photos.. as header says (quick update)
haring this few photos for now… Will post more in March and I hope I can see a difference. You always friend Carlos….
