Incision
Sleeves, I think this is normal. I am getting sleeved on July the 28th. My last preop appointment, the doctor told me to expect a "pulling" at the site they take the stomach out of. As a clinician myself, if you have no sings and symptoms infection, you should be fine.

Pre Op diet
I am getting sleeved the 28th of July too. I a, finding it hard on the preop diet but it is getting slightly better as the week ends. Just stick with it. Going into the weekend I am dreading sitting around and not eating much. I bought a book to ready. Hopefully it steers my mind from thinking about food. Good luck next Friday.

Anyone from Australia
Casey you are right. Going with private is a better option. I joined NIB 12 months ago and I am getting sleeved July the 28th. With public health not only is the wait very long but you have to have a lot of health problems to qualify.

About to join the sleeve club
Hello Sarah and well done on your weight loss so far. You should be proud of yourself for the work you have put in. I am Day 6 preop diet. I think this is the first day I felt a bit better. I have ticked all the boxes you experience with VLCD plan. Irritability, excessive hunger, headaches , fatigue ... you name it. I feel somewhat normal today.

I am 4 day preop and ready to eat my husband and children. I am that hungry! I can have 3 protein shakes and approved low carb vegetables. I had no idea how much my body has been dependent on carbs. What day does this get better? I need hope.

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
Tell her you know people who aspirated while drinking water and they died. True stories!

Did You Cheat On Your Pre Op Diet?
You should be fine. My surgeon/dietician prescribed preop diet is vegetables ( except peas, corn, potatoes and pumpkins ) and 3 protein shakes per day. 1 teaspoon of oil a day and I can use it in salad or to sauté the vegetables.

Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
I hear you. I am not telling anybody except my husband. Some of my coworkers are very judgmental in a vicious way.

28 July Sleeve date
I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. In the past 6 years, I have gone through major stress from 4 deaths in the family. Food has been my numbing "medication." I now weigh 225 lbs which is my highest weight. It has taken me a year to reach this decision and now I am approved for my sleeve! Only my partner knows about the surgery. I know, understand and respect the choice to share or not to share one's weight loss surgery story. I work with a few women who could easily be inducted to the Hall of Gossip and BItchiness should one ever exist. We worked with a manager who shared that she had gastric bypass a few years prior to working at this company. Gossip got into overdrive with vicious comments such as, " I wouldn't mutilate myself for a bit of vanity" or "why risk my life when I could just put my fork down." Mind you 2 of these women are not small chicks themselves and can benefit from "putting the fork down" if it was that easy. Also, I am a health professional and believe that sharing your diagnosis and/or treatment is a personal choice. Whether you have a serious disease like cancer or a minor illness such as a yeast infection, it is up to an individual decision to share or not. I am looking forward to my surgery. When the weight starts dropping, I will tell them "I am putting my fork down." Thankful for this forum. Your stories inspire and give me hope.

Do you have private health cover? If so and have the correct level of cover, you shouldn't have to wait. You can see your doctor and have that scheduled in 2-3 weeks depending on how busy the doctor is.

Down my first 20 !
Well done. You look amazing.

What are you saying?
I totally understand where you are coming from. I had an almost similar experience with judgmental coworkers who laughed at me when I gained back from a weight loss program that included diet, exercise and injections. Getting sleeved on July the 28th and keeping my mouth shut.
