Hello, I was banded by Dr. A on Friday, May 9 and I only wish there were doctors in the US as great as him. He took the time to sit down and explain to you exactly what he was doing and why, he gave you the option to choose which kind of band you wanted him to use (Inamed or J&J). He actually even carried my bag to our hospital room! The hospital he works at looks old, like maybe a hospital from the 1970's or something but the nurses were very nice, and if you needed something you didn't have to wait on them for a long to get it for you. After the surgery his assistant came and checked on me and then Dr. A and his assistant came back later than evening and checked on me! He gave me the box that my band came in and gave me pain med, some Protein tabs, and some antibiotic to take for the first three days post op. I cannot say enough good things about him. If you choose to use him you will definitely be happy with him. He doesn't act like he is above you, he's just a normal person just like you are. I could go on and on about him. He had just banded his mother 2 days before me so that told me he completely trusted the materials he was working with. :Banane53: Lisa

Hello Vanessaandgirls, I was banded on the 9th also. I've had some left shoulder pain and pain on the left side of my stomach, I guess where my port is. Other than that I'm doing ok I guess. I'm starting to realize how much of a challenge it is going to be not to eat out of habit and eat when you are hungry!!

Hello, I am two days out also and sounds like we are doing about the same. The left side of my stomach is more sore than the right side and is bruised a little more also but it isn't too bad. I will go back to work tomorrow. I am a secretary so I don't have much, if any, physical strain I will have to worry with. I have belched a few times also, it is pretty uncomfortable to do that. I have only eaten Jello and drank tea. I haven't tried the broth yet either. Sounds like you are doing great though! Lisa

Hello, I am from the Texas panhandle and I am going to Mexico to Dr. Guillerom Alvarez on May 9. When I spoke with his coordinator, she asked me several questions and then said I would qualify. It was a lot more simplier I think than going to anyone in the states. The dr's in the states may have to go through all that because of some kind of malpractice insurance. I don't know, that is just my guess. Lisa

Hello, I don't live far from Lubbock and called a couple of doctors in Lubbock to check prices. I know one of them was Dr. Hall. I remember that the prices were between $14,000 & $16,000. I am going to go to Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico on the 9th of May. It is costing me $6900 there. I haven't found a doctor up here yet to do fills though.

My surgery date is May 9. It is with Dr. Guillermo Alvarez. I have talked to several people that has had him do their surgery and have heard good things. He is in The hospital is located on the Eagle Pass Texas/Piedras Negras Mexico border. The clinic is about 1 mile over into Mexico border. Has anyone ever heard of him and what do you know about him?
