With this process, there is definitely a sense of great accomplishment despite the gas pain of course and discomfort lol....let’s remind ourselves of the reason we are doing this....to create a balanced, healthy life full of mountains we are set to climb and conquer. I got a call this morning telling me what time to report to the hospital on Monday morning for the surgery. 7:30 am !! ! It feels really weird and surreal. I'm excited but also strangely calm about it. I think it is because this has been such a long journey this year. I went to my first surgeons's consult on Jan 27th 2017 and I'm finally ending 2017 with my surgery in Dec. I've read so many books, and posts, and watched so many Youtube videos about everything. I feel prepared . I'm ready for this change. 2018 is going to be about a healthier , more active me. I can't wait.

Do a lot of walking within a couple hours of being brought up from recovery. Can't stress this enough. I've had many surgeries and walking is the best thing you can do for pain and discomfort. As far as preparing before, have fun. enjoy the food you love because after next week you reset everything. Doesn't mean you can't eat down the road, but you may miss it in the beginning. I'm five weeks out and have no eating restrictions. Haven't gotten sick once and I've re-introduced pretty much everything I ate prior to surgery, except for soda and sweets.
First night will be hardest as you can't have anything. Not even Water. Ask for wet swabs to wipe your lips. As soon as you drink the dye and your cleared the next morning you'll be able to start. Pain shouldn't feel more than as if you did a bunch of sit-ups. Will start to decrease beginning day 3 and then be completely gone after the first week.

I'm in the same boat, as I did my last weigh in appointment this past Monday. Like you, my packet was sent for approval and I'm DREADING these next two weeks for a response from insurance lol My surgeon said more than likely my surgery date is set for the middle of August. I'm glad we are all in this together. We all can support each other up here. Good luck to us all #LosersBench

Hey everyone! I'm hoping to receive my actual surgery date sometime next week but my surgeon says it should be in mid August. Being that I'm still in the pre-op phase, I've been wondering about Vitamins for hair. I've watched so many YouTube videos on people that experienced Hair loss as a side effect. Even though this doesn't happen for everyone, I would like to be proactive. Does anyone have suggestions for a good brand of hair vitamins to start beforehand JUST IN CASE??

I just finished my last Nutritionist appointment today and I am totally psyched,nervous and a little .. well a lot anxious. I wanted to create this thread to open discussion and new friendship, I have 15 days for my insurance approval and I'm crossing my fingers. My surgery date is August 7th, I'D LOVE to have a sleeve buddy ! I'm an open book !

Wow, reading all of these has me excited! I don't have a definite date as of yet because the submission for approval was just sent off today....BUT my surgeon said it will be sometime in mid August! [emoji41]
