my advice is to CALM DOWM.
you didn’t stretch anything. nothing is wrong. just keep moving forward. this is a marathon, not a sprint. mistakes (not that this is even one) happen and will continue to happen. learn, forgive, and move on.

i lost 100lbs in the first 6 months. but i’ve been stalled for a month straight now since.
talked to my surgeon yesterday, he said i will start to lose again for sure. he said i have been a fast loser the first 6 months, and a lot of times that means the 6-month stall will be longer than usual bc your body has a lot to adjust to. he said slower losers have a much shorter 6-month stall, or none at all.

A bariatric surgeon named Dr. Matthew Weiner has several informative videos on YouTube, and one is about the reasons people regain after losing a significant amount of weight due to WLS. He was not my surgeon, but I found his videos to be very helpful. Besides lifestyle choices such as being sedentary and overeating, there are other possible causes of regain, such as certain conditions or medications. Steroids such as Prednisone can cause rapid weight gain. If someone injured their knee, as an example, and was prescribed steroids as part of the healing process, he'd have the double challenge of having to limit physical activity and taking medicine that will likely cause weight gain. Many antidepressants cause weight gain, as do various hormonal medications.
Your stomach does not significantly stretch after having the VSG, but as your body heals and adapts after surgery you will be able to consume more than you initially did. There are many caloric "slider" foods that you can quickly consume without having the same level of restriction as with denser foods.
I had the VSG in 2015 and have been maintaining a BMI on the low end of the normal range for over a year, but my weight bounces around about 10 pounds due to medical issues. I have Addison's disease which makes me dependent on steroids, which can cause my weight to rapidly surge. Anytime I'm going to be encountering a stressful situation, with work or even just something like a really long flight where I'll be sleep deprived, I have to take an increased "stress" dose, and I gain weight. I then just work to get that weight off again. But I can see how if someone was in a chronically stressful situation, that would be much harder.

How does one get past the fear of obesity related illness and disability?
    It's all perspective.
I'd a lot rather have a two hour surgery that I'm well prepared for, have tests to ensure my safety, and my doctor and dietitian helping me to succeed.... I'd rather fight the good fight...
Than to simply wait for a heart attack, stroke, diabetes, or obesity related cancer (or any combination) to kill me passively while I do nothing.
Letting fat kill me scares me a hell of a lot more than using every tool in the box to try to defeat it.

i would HIGHLY recommend watching every video on youtube from this bariatric surgeon, Dr. Matthew Weiner. he also has a book called "Pound of Cure" which applies to bariatric patients as well.

So I turned 19 on July 17th and went in for roux-en-y bypass surgery on July 19th. I just hit 6 months yesterday and I’ve lost about 94 pounds. They told me at my 6 month that I’m not eating enough and I’m on the malnourished side of things. They said my Vitamin levels are normal but I haven’t been taking them like I’m suppose to If anyone has recommendations on how they remember to take their Vitamins or force themselves to eat I would appreciate any advise! I also just started my second semester of college so now I have to deal with that and trying to get back on track and healthy!

Given that it's not hooked to your upper GI anymore...how in the hell can she "burp" it?
I once knew a person who was utterly convinced that her cats were mating with rabbits and that she was raising hybrid cat/rabbits in her barn.
The world is an interesting place full of very interesting people.

    that is very strange.
not to freak you out... but there is about 2% of the population that this surgery does not work for. it's genetic, has nothing to do with anything you can control (diet, exercise).
and it would be seriously heartbreaking if this were the case with you... as it appears it could be.

JohnnyCakes got a reaction from illailla in Relationship perspective change after weight loss surgery
then you should have put it in the main forum. this place is for the XY.
to answer your question - i definitely can relate to what you're going thru. you've been married 13 years, i've been married 10 but been together 12. i'll say this... it's hard to be married that long regardless of weight. even if you never had a weight problem, you'd probably still be getting a "13 year itch".
and it's not like being overweight with no confidence is a good way to "stay true" to your spouse (out of lack of options, you know?). that "protection" is gone and you (we) are suddenly faced with the question "do you want to still be married to your spouse? because you have options." that's a very different question than "do you want to still be married to your spouse? because no one else would want you."
basically, you (we) have been out of practice in making the pro-active commitment to our wives everyday. we have to change that and start thinking that we're with them by choice, not by predicament. i'd suggest taking some time to really imagine what your life would be like without your wife. sounds like you love her a lot and are great friends. i think you would really, really miss that. you have to remember that any "fresh" relationship would also, eventually, get old and stale.
in the end, it sounds like you are struggling with the very common challenges that all long term marriages suffer from.

Interesting that you say this. I thought that I was cleared for my psych evaluation but a call to my surgeon’s office told me that I was NOT. I called the counselor and they want me to have a few more sessions to address some depression after that I will be cleared.
Fast forward to yesterday, I went to a counselor for my initial visit and I talked for the hour and I came to realize, (not that it’s a huge surprise to me) that a lot of the issues in my life are related to my weight. Being a fat kid held me back, Let me restate that, being the fat kid I held myself back because of embarrassment and shame. Yes it didn’t help I was picked on by other kids and yes even adults including teachers. The thing is, being so young I was ill equipped with the knowledge and tools to make myself do my best regardless of adversity. By the time I was old enough it know how to better combat the negativity it was too late. Being shy, introverted and afraid to stand up for myself was the new “learned “normal. Now years later with age and wisdom (debatable LOL) I see the error of my ways and I see the damage I’ve done to my life.
Don’t get me wrong its not all doom and gloom but I could have done a hell of a lot better for myself. Ultimately I have only myself to blame. BUT, knowing what I know now I’m able to seek out the help I need to work through this and I will be able to change what I need to.
I’m purposely going to get the intellectual tools and the surgery that will help me change my life for the better. I’m going to focus on me, my family and my life. I knew this was going to be a mostly mental change but I didn’t think I would have as many epiphanies about myself as I’ve had in the last few weeks.
I’m getting ready for the challenge that’s before me. I’m NOT going to let myself down again, I’m getting too old for that ****.
Thanks for the kind words and the encouragement, I really appreciate it more that you guys could possibly know. Even though I don’t know you guys it’s nice to know that there are people out there that know what it’s like and have been through or are going through this process that can offer guidelines to help others.
