leiaD got a reaction from lilbigprsn in Post op. Surgery 7/6. Home today and gained 8pounds
I actually wouldn't worry. I noticed that I wasn't losing weight, and I went back to the doctors office and I was down 9lbs. My scale acts funny, so I'm thinking of getting a new one as it's jumping up and down. Try a different scale if you must? But honestly your stomach is swollen, retaining Water?

You've got to figure out what your body needs at each stage. When I wasn't getting in my Protein my weight loss DONALD. The minute I was able to increase my protein and my Water intake I started to lose. And felt so much better. It was a real process of trial and error. You must have patience with the process. It is well worth it. I had my surgery on February 23. And today I've lost 85 lbs. there are still things that I can't eat. And by that I mean my body just won't tolerate. I found a regimen that works for me for now. Also trial and error. Hearing what other people have tried and really paying close attention to my body and how it Tolerates and I just has gotten me this far.

I too struggled getting in Protein the first several weeks. I could not tolerate the shakes. I started using I so pure from GNC. They are clear liquid consistency of Water. Some flavors are better than others. But the really not so great. They were a lifesaver during that time however. I diluted them in water they tasted like a melted popsicle. Sweet and tart. They had 40 g of protein per bottle. They're a little pricey at about four dollars each. But it was well worth it. Got me through the first several weeks. You also may be getting dehydrated. I got IV fluids at week 2 which really helped with the dizziness and muscle cramping. You got to stay healthy. I gave up the ice up your drinks at about a three week or one month mark and was able to switch back over to Protein Shakes Premier Protein. I diluted the vanilla Premier protein with my morning coffee and still do that to this day.

leiaD got a reaction from tinab59 in Eating out the first time after surgery
I say enjoy yourself. If you know where you will be going, look up the menu beforehand to see what bariatric friendly options they may have. Call with any questions. Ask for a to go box in the beginning so you can separate your portion. Eat slow and enjoy the conversation! I'm only 3 weeks post op, but I've been out with my sister.

leiaD got a reaction from sunmeadow in What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
Can you elaborate? I had my surgery 6/19 and I'm already thinking about how horrible my body is going to look once I lose this weight. I feel like I traded weight loss for saggy skin and breast. Yes, I'm happy that I will be healthier but I'm 27 and don't want to have so many things that I have to pay to fix. It's a little disheartening to think after I've stabilize my weight loss and maintain it, that I have to pay for all this corrective cosmetic surgery and still have to struggle with the body issues and how I view myself. I feel I traded one body issue for a few others.

leiaD got a reaction from more2love1381 in Why is this so hard?!?
Okay, I'm feeling the exact same way! I can't drink the Protein Shakes because they make me sick! I even tried Isopure clear Protein ewww lol. Today I went out after my appointment and I had my little sister that I had to feed. She ordered a burger and fries... I had beef tripe Soup (I consumed just the broth which was delicious) but I cried. I just started to think why did I do this to myself and that it's all my fault. I'm 6 days post op and will be on puréed next weekend! Hello chili and refried Beans [emoji173]️ stats: hw343 sw 319 cw 312 I keep thinking about the future when I will look and feel so much better, but yes, this is rough.

I'm right at 4 months out and can't eat eggs. As soon as they touch my tongue I immediately get nauseas. Egg whites go down a little better though.

Tried really tender pulled pork, but not too greasy because I heard that can mess up your stomach as well.

Well if it's worth the try, I've had deviled eggs. I'm two weeks post op almost. They go down pretty smoothly. Someone told me not to do a hard scrambled egg because they sit like bricks. I think the red meat thing is pretty common as I hear it takes a while for that. My friend couldn't take it until after a year.

leiaD reacted to RHmama in 1st Puréed Day!
My faves: mashed cauliflower with a little Parmesan, with added Protein Powder. Same with zucchini. Also cottage cheese with sugar-free jam. I also get shredded chicken, put it in the mini food processor with 2TB plain Greek yogurt, a tiny bit of avocado mayo, and lemon pepper...a pretty tasty chicken salad. Re fried Beans hurt my stomach which was disappointing! For a treat I will have a teaspoon of Peanut Butter. I'll add unflavored Protein powder to sugar-free pudding.

All I want is a toasted bagel drowning in butter. That's what I've wanted for like, 3 weeks now. But I'm being strong. But I still want it. I'm holding out til October for carbs. I'm going to Paris and I'm eating all the breads. Well, not all the breads because my stomach won't allow it but I'm trying all the breads!
