Damn, I'm very sorry to hear that. I wish I had some ideas for you, but you absolutely do not want to get so dehydrated that you need to go back to the hospital. I'd speak with the surgeon ASAP. Until then, keep up the ice chips at least.

Yeah, I had the same issue. It got to the point where I felt more dehydrated drinking 64oz than 32oz of Water and I was getting bad headaches the more water I drank. I also had really dry skin when I was drinking 100oz/day. Protein Shakes, Jello, and SF Popsicles are all ways you can up your Fluid intake. It got better for me right around week 5.

I was struggling to find a Protein Drink with enough Protein to fulfill my post op requirements yet not be so sickly sweet that it made my already queasy stomach worse but I've finally found it! I went to GNC and they have a line called Isopure that has a whopping 40g of protein, 160 calories, zero carbs. It comes in several flavors, grape, mango/peach, green apple, coconut etc but what is best is that the flavor is very mild, not super sweet at all. I wish I'd had these right after surgery. Love them! I also found the sub-lingual B12 and Biotin chewables

I'm 4 weeks and 4 days today PO. I'm back at work since May 2nd. The first week was rough. I'd be exhausted by 1pm. I have some days that are better than others. Some days I have tons of energy and some it takes all I have to get up and go to the bathroom. I think everyone's different. I would read on here while I was off work people walking 2 and 3 miles after their first week. I though wow and I'm lucky to make it to the fridge for a Protein Shake or the bathroom. Take it at your own pace and don't read too much into what one person can do that your not able. It's a major surgery that your body is adjusting too.

I was on medical leave from work for 6 weeks post-op. I took a nap every single day for at least 2 hours during that 6 weeks. And when I did go back to work, I still struggled with fatigue for the first 2 weeks (and seriously missed the nap).
After 8 weeks, my energy steadily improved. Just be kind to yourself, and be patient (even though I know that is hard to do sometimes...).
    Good luck!

    Thank you!

It's great to hear you've been there, and passed it.
I guess I just have to be a little patient, and also try not to sleep so much during the day..bahh..

I think I might have felt a tad isolated, being home, when everybody else is working or studying.

I'm so glad I found this app, I already feel less alone [emoji3]

I'm only 6 days in and I had that thought when I saw the Olive Garden commercial which is my favorite. Your right Protein shakes takes that away. I suppose we both need to hang in there.

So...here I am..7 days out. I can see now, that last week was a "honeymoon" phase. Didn't miss or want food. Now...I am doing great, but my head is starting to think...jeez...I have not eaten in a looooong time. I am hungry at times. I have a Protein Shake, and that stops that...luckily those intervals have worked into 3 "meals" a day. But I am stating to miss eating a little. I find myself thinking of really decadent food, that quite frankly I have not had for months...but they are popping into my head.
I am starting to mourn, seems early, and I know once I start driving and getting back out into the world this week, the real challenges will begin. Not gonna lie. Scared..and a little sad.
I know its worth it, and I knew what I was getting into, but until you are actually here you have no idea how you will feel.
Just wanted to vent, and see if anyone else is feeling this way.

So I'm only in day two of my preop clear liquid only diet and yesterday evening I had 3 ounces of meat and was very satisfied for the rest of the night. My head hunger went away and I slept well. Today I have been struggling worse with the head hunger because I feel weak and wobbly. I was making dinner for my family as I enjoyed a cup of tea and wanted to see if the roast was seasoned well and cooked without being chewy so I had a bite. No more than that. All of a sudden i was very satisfied and wasn't so hungry or weird feeling. It's gotta be all in my head. I've lost 50 pounds just on the 2 1/2 month dr monitored diet, before starting the 1 week liquid diet, so I'm not worried that 3 ounces and a bite will stop the surgery. I'm worried because the "side effects" of cheating are so real. It just shows me that my brain has perfected its hold on me and that I need to find a new source of satisfaction.

Recovery was not bad . Pain/uncomfortable for first day or two then just tired . Pubic area wasn't that bad but it looks better now with the skin tightening during Tummy Tuck. Very happy with results. Had Lipo of flanks/love handles as well.

Hey all. I am 9 days post op. At check in I weighed 246 pounds. 3rd day post op at home weighed 256. Totally freaked out. I have been busting my ass to get in all the liquid requirements from my surgeon. Peeing like crazy and figured I was mostly hydrated. I weighed myself yesterday and I was 243. Things are going in the right direction. Did anyone else experience this or am I an anomaly?
Over all I am feeling good. When I am up to long my right side starts hurting. Not sure if it's gas or the two puncture sites. After I sit I am fine. So I get up and walk often...with pain. I figure it will go away. I will ask my surgeon at my follow up appt on the 23rd
    Hope you are all well!!

So I'm 9 days post op and I feel great. I've been walking and sipping as much as I can. The Protein doesn't go down as fast as Water but I'm getting there. Had my first visit with my surgeon today and I have lost a whopping 17 pounds. I'm so happy for myself I'm telling everyone I know like look at me! Lol! Although, I don't see where it's coming from, but I do feel it in my clothes.
On another note to those who are about to start this journey and looking to this site for any clue of what's next to come. Be patient, and always remember everyone is different. As I was looking into this site trying to gather information about what's it supposed to be like post op and I found myself thinking negative about what was next for me. A lot of the things I read were a little on the scary side. So far the only thing I can say is yes I'm hurting internally, but no matter how small the incisions are we have to remember it was a big operation on the inside. So right now I'm just doing my best to keep going and doing what am doing, because I'm going in the right direction according to my doctor of course. Everyone heals differently.

I don't know if this is necessarily the place to post this, but I just got married!!!! This woman has been by my side through the last 2 and a half years in this journey. She met me when I weighed over 600 pounds. I am now back down to my playing weight for football in college, but I am much healthier and and in better shape than I was then. I still have a lot of work to get under 3 bills, but I am extremely happy to head down this new path in life.

Hi all- I'm a vet, had my wls in 2014. Lost to goal and then some and have successfully maintained. I have also had all my plastic surgery and am just living a happy life now.
I am here because I want to be supportive of others. Bariatric surgery was very complicated for me and I feel I have a lot to contribute no matter where you are on your journey because I have really struggled myself. I want to be there for newbies and other vets who may need support down the line.

This surgey changed my life, almost cost me my life, and gave me back my life. If you want to talk I am here and never going to judge you.

Today has been my worst day, sorta feeling drained. I had been doing extremely well, getting the fluids and protein in, although today I'm behind. The incisional soreness at umbilical site is killing me but the pain medication helps. I even went outside and walked a bit yesterday, today I have no get up and go. I'm looking forward to a better tomorrow. Glad that you are doing well.
