  1. Kristey - I say go for it!! It could only help. Congrats Erica!! Sounds like you are doing really well on your pre-op diet. I go in tomorrow for all of my pre-admission testing and hopefully I will know when to start mine...I am just ready to get going already!
  2. for all interested - :biggrin2:
  3. Thanks for the shout out, LOL - that was pretty cool! :coolgleamA: I will work on it when I get home tonight!
  4. Hey girls! Shrinko de Mayo's is a cute name!! I whipped up a logo - and with photo - Feel free to use and let me know what you think!
  5. Isn't it funny?? I have "friends" who respond in the same way and you know what's the funny part?? Only the overweight ones do. I have friends, colleagues and family members who aren't overweight and have nothing but positive things to say and well wishes! I say it has to be jealousy and envy. It's sad really...
  6. I think it will be cool to post goal images, explanations, outfits, inspirations, etc...we are getting so close! My inspiration and goal is to have the body of - Jordin Sparks! I think she is absoulutely adorable and isn't stick thin! She modeled for my favorite store - Torrid. She is a size 12 and loves her curves! And my dream outfit - size 12 (a 14, even!) designer jeans, a white t-shirt and peep toe pumps! :scared2: OK - who's next? :blushing:
  7. YAY!!! That is great news!! Sounds really promising!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

IMO - we could each have different names and I could care less! If you like another May name, use it! Create a signature and put it on your posts. I think if we would have "agreed" to a different name, I would have still went with "May Flowers". It's the rebel in me!:tongue_smilie:
  9. This is very liberating! I will NOT miss: Having to pull my shirt down in the back and on the sides everytime I stand from my desk at work. Being deathly afraid of dying from a heart attack because of my high blood pressure. Having cankles. Having bruises from my bra digging into my skin. Having to wear support underwear from Lane Bryant or Spanx high falutant underwear EVERY DAY to contain some of the jelly rolls as much as possible. Shopping in Lane Bryant. Having a double chin and chubby face. Being bigger than my husband and feeling HUGE next to him and in pictures. - This is a BIG one - I get teary just thinking about it. Being the fattest person in a room, elevator, store, anywhere. Craving Doritos 24/7. Not being able to look cute wearing a leather strapped watch - as it squeezes the fat on my arm and makes red marks that itch. Being tired and making excuses for not doing an ounce of physical activity. Not being able to clean my house and keep it that way - without running out of energy. Eating lunch in my car so that people at work don't see me stuff my FAT face with crap that I shouldn't be eating. Looking huge in my car - not cute and "lady like" like I should. Not being able to wear my arms out in a sleevless top in the summer. And lastly - I WILL NOT miss - feeling FAT and HUGE, thinking about how I will go yet another summer fat and miserable every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year of my adult life.
  10. I was dealing with this same thing: when to tell, what to tell...but you know what? I decided to tell my manager and team that I am getting Lap Band surgery and will be out for 2 weeks. period. I am not hiding it and it will be tough to keep the lie going when I start to lose the weight. When someone asks, I will PROUDLY tell them. Heck, they have seen me try every diet known to man and fail... but this time will be different. :smile2: I find it very liberating - I have let the weight hold my true feelings back for far too long - I am FAT and am doing something about it! They all see me everyday and know that I need to lose weight. I am proud that I took the step to save my life and live for my children.
  11. Thanks for starting this Jessica...I am scared too. Mostly of being put under and the pain...oh and the gas pains I have been reading about. I find comfort in knowing that there will be an entire group of people going through similar experiences. I just can't wait to be post-op already...not too much longer to go!
  12. I am in Philadelphia!!!
  13. Glad to hear you made it through the pre-op testing Miles! I am not looking forward to April 30th, when I am scheduled for mine! Good thing it's first thing in the morning so I won't have to go too long on an empty stomach! I keep having thoughts that in the pre-op tets, they discover something that hinders the surgery and I get the bad news that I can't get the Lap Band! I guess I'm just getting anxious! I can't wait...May 19th can't get here soon enough!
  14. wow! sounds like you ladies have it down!! If only I had the will power! Do I have it in me? All I can do is try...
  15. vey cute! I see we have a some very creative May Bandsters! :Dancing_wub:
  16. Welcome everyone! Kammi - your daughter's name is beautiful! Molly, LOVE your blog. It's so nice to meet other May Bandsters!!
  17. It's comforting to know I am not the only one with this hilarious syndrome. Did'n't go too crazy so far today. But I did make a 2 scoop (butter pecan) sundae with graham crakers and caramel sauce. A part of me wants to just say to heck with it and pig out like there's no tomorrow, and the other part of me (about 20% hehe) wants to eat right and in smaller portions to prepare for the band. BUT then, you know what, that's why I am getting the band in the first place. I CAN'T do the right thing when it comes to food. I've been trying all of my adult life. As crazy as it sounds, I can't wait to go on the liquid diet. :::frown::: Thanks for letting me share. Let's use this for all food-related, bingeful, last supper-ish posts.
  18. UUUGGHH! What is with me eating any and everything I want to? This "Last Supper Syndrome" is NO joke! As soon as I got the approval and date, something inside of me just clicked. It's like I am trying t eat anything I can get my hands on, like I am running out of time! I have to try and remind myself that I have indulged way too long - which is why I am getting the Lap Band now, tipping the scale at almost 300 lbs! Hopefully this post can be motivation for us all to NOT go overboard with the eating and focus more on what's to come. Once we are banded we will still NEED to watch what we are putting into our mouths. It's not a magic wand to stop us from eating and magically get skinny. The cravings and temptations will still be there, we have to be STRONG. So...after the week long binge on carbs and sweets, I will start to get back on track. I will eat more veggies and Protein and drink nothing but Water. No more regular cokes and sugary juices. No more cheesecake, pie and ice cream. No more subs and french fries. :tt1: My face is so bloated and even chubbier than it used to be with all this bingeing. It is time to STOP! OK - who's with me?:frown:
  19. Shelly - I am so jealous of your ability to save, save, save! That is something I struggle with! I am a shopper! But I have been cutting back on giving Lane Bryant and Torrid my money, since I will be out of these 20's and into "regular" sizes within the next year. I'm having fun going through my closet finding things that I didn't know exist. Not to mention my daughter's 5th birthday is coming up soon and her wish list is a page long! I am going to make a concious effort to save more, my husband would be proud! And the bee tatoo sounds very cute! I always wanted something on my foot. And teaching the kindergarden class sounds like it will be a challenge! At least it will keep you on your toes. Krysten, the Hello Kitty tattoo sounds adorable!! I love this board too. I am becoming obsessed with coming on here reading! My girlfriend who got the band 3 years ago advised me to keep this support system. In "real life" it's hard to find people who can relater or even understand the concept of the band and why it is needed! I consider myself lucky to have found a FULL FORUM of Lap Bandsters! Here's to our journey together to Skinnyville!! :biggrin2:
  20. Let's all post our dates! I am scheduled for May 19th!! Can't wait!
  21. Thank you for posting this! I know that I will have to work toward my weight loss goals and that the band isn't a magic wand. It is a tool to assist in my efforts to lose weight and get healthy. I have to start telling myself this now, even though my suregery isn't until May 19th.... Now if I can just get out of this "Last Supper Syndrome"! :huh2:
  22. soooooo exciting!!!! We have a name - May Flowers!!! Can't wait to go home and put my logo on my signature!!!
  23. For sure, closer to May you will be sooooo excited!! May 1st will be here before you know it! I can't wait until you get it done so thay we can start hearing stories!!
  24. Welcome Sandy! Krysten, I have the weirdest band dreams too!! I guess it's just anxiety! I am just ready to be banded already!!! I have started telling people at work. I just can't keep it in anymore! It's all I think about. I got the letter from my insurance company in the mail with the written approval, it all seems so real now! I think we are all so lucky to have this opportunity! Now if I can just get out of this "last supper syndrome" Man, I can not stop! My suregeon hasn't mentioned any pre-op diets or anything, BUT I have all my pre-admission testing on the 30th - I'm sure they will probably put me on something then! :confused2:
  25. Congratulations! I was approved not so long ago too! Feels great, doesn't it? Come on over to the May 2008 board! It's an awesome place to share the journey with fellow May Bandsters! We can all share our experiences together!
