Hoping and praying I can duplicate this . And the last 2 nights I have been vomiting, and when I go for checkups they keep noting I am doing well for ____months.I am not, stop noting pacifing things. This not the way things are supposed to be, will I have to scream today. to get someone to listen? Have an appointment at 3pm today, May be Only with Nurse Practioner Valerie, no sign of my surgeon, well having a mini-pity party at this second. Maybe I'll never see him again unless I need surgery again. Perhaps I get only a nurse because my case is BORING?
Well last weight was 224 on Thursday, I won't make 1/2 until I make goal, maybe 50 pounds to go. I was literally twice as big as I should be when I set out on the journey, lost about 125 since then, 95 or 96 pounds since surgery date 8 months ago, those sound fine except this AM my baby tummy is SORE. They told me at last EGJ things are healing well from what could be visualized, not so certain in my 💔of. ❤s. I have taken enough Carafate to build a patio, enough PPI to last until I'm 80, still do best. with Protein Shakes, RTF or powder reconstituted, Soups with minimal or no texture to them, applesauce, occasional mashed up fruit or veggies, am I on a Mechanical soft died the rest of my life? In theory I should be on Stage 4 or at least Stage 3, but when I venture towards such, up things come! Still unable to handle banana, Peanut Butter, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. eggs, or meat. Ground up?,Can't even handle ham salad with nothing added like pickle relish, celery or even diet mayo. So many abortive trials I am also sickened by the thought of trying once more. Oh I do take all my Vitamins, minerals, all the things PCP and Bariatric staff think I need, maybe that's what keeps me alive because a varied diet sure isn't. It is fatigue- ing to throw a tantrum but perhaps it's what I need to have someone listen for once! I want my joy back , I want my digestion back, I want to feel better and this blase treatment isn't making it for ME.

Sorry for the length of this,
Sorry to hear about your health issues. Medications can be difficult on weight loss. On the positive side, You have figured out the key to getting your weight down. It’s finding your calorie and macro range that puts your body in weight loss mode. Low carb and 1000 calories range is working for you. People on this site are going to benefit from your story/experience with getting a gain back down.
I’m no expert. Just from my experience. I was sleeved in 2014. (almost 5 years out) I had my first gain in my third year. I worked it back down. What I have learned over the years.
Getting back in weight loss mode after a gain:
Get rid of temptation foods in your home and go grocery shopping.
Accept that you will feel crappy detoxing off the extra carbs sugar and calories, It will pass.
Log your food and go back to bariatric weight loss basics. Once you found your current calorie range dial them in to where your body starts losing weight again.( I'm 5"5" my range is 950 to 1100 carbs n higher tha 60 grams) If you are not in weight loss mode, Start by logging and dial in your calories back by 100 and adjust your carbs. These numbers will be specific to your body. If you need help setting things up in your food log app ask.
Sleeves will have some extra compacity to fill. Eat dense Protein and the other items allowed on your plan. Eat as much veggies as you like until full. The bulk/fiber will help you feel full. They are low in calories and will keep you in your daily calorie range. This is the trick. Because we can eat more does not mean you have to go over your calories and macros.
Keep healthy sweet and salty options on hand for cravings.
Ditch liquid/soft food protein sources. They will not satisfy hunger (except for on the run/emergency food)
If you are low on time. Meal prep Sundays. Freeze portioned foods for you and the family for the week.
Find some great recipes to get out of food ruts.
    Maintenance mode:
THE WORK DOESS NOT END AFTER GOAL!!!!! Maintaining is Keeping an eye on the scale. Don’t let a 20-pound gain become 40 70 100+ pound gain. (*** Newbies*** you will be surprised on how quickly a gain can happen and how slow it comes off years out)
It takes time to adjust getting out of the bariatric rules of what’s good and bad mindset –
You will be adding carbs to slow stop your weight loss
Yes, you get to indulge with in reason. Know what foods may trigger you. Notice if they lead you down a path to over consume and gain.
Give yourself a bounce range to maintain. (I maintain a ten pound bounce up and down the scale)
When you gain your bounce range, go back to bariatric basis to get it back off
Over the years. We tend to get lax, old behaviors and stress eating can slip back in. Don’t beat yourself up. Anyone of us can gain. Come back here for support. Join a weight loss challenge.
My reality is I log. I’ve tried to guess my way and it just does not work for me. Especially when I go back to weight loss mode. For those of you who maintain without logging I give it up to you.
    Find what works for you.

Being able to buy clothes from a decent store good brands not just big and tall..
Being able to walk around for hours to keep up with my family.
Being able to fit on rides better.
Not dealing with sweat between rolls (tmi)
Not being looked at everytime I go out to eat.
Being able to run for more than 30 seconds.
Well be nice to have some female attention for once!
Fit people get treated better in every aspect of life especially when shopping!
Being able to fit into my sports car better
Being able to go hiking it's been about 6 years..
Being able to save money on food and being a cheap drunk if I ever do drink.
My biggest one is hopefully not to be hungry constantly every day, eating to live not living just to eat!

I will post my weight loss so far for you to have a comparison. As you will see, I am a slow loser but I started with a bmi of 44 and its now 32, almost "normal" so I am one happy bunny!
Also, its now down to 2-3lbs a month but it is still going down. I am not an active person, I have bad hips so don't exercise as much as others on here but just having the restriction itself has lost me most of the weight, don't give up hope

    Congrats on so many things!
You're weight loss from 300lbs Maintaining in a 10lb window for the last year following your honeymoon period Raising a family Working Going to school to provide a better future for yourself and your family. Recognizing you have an issue and need practical suggestions for change, rather than ignoring the situation. That's amazing and sure doesn't sound like someone who is failing WLS. Make sure to give yourself credit, cuz the morale very rarely improves with beatings.
You know in your heart of hearts that you have a decision to make. It lands solely on your shoulders. And you already know the answer. The answer is you HAVE to want to choose to go back to the old rules from your surgeon that actually worked. Or if they don't work, then you have to find new rules. But at the heart of it, you must take action, quit rationalizing, have a game plan, and implement the plan.
No one likes going "BACK" on a diet. No one. Cuz it's like 2-3 weeks of PIA and pain.
You're not feeling satiety cuz frankly, you are rationalizing bad behaviors that contribute to the problem. Maybe you are:
Eating too many carbs which cause blood sugar and insulin spikes which drive hunger. Eating too quickly of the wrong things Eating too much "comfort food that is sliderish" and lacks density Not eating Protein first Eating the wrong kind of protein Not eating things that are low calorie and low carb that will help fill you up (ie al dente and raw veggies along with dense lean protein and a bit of healthy fats) Not following the rules about drinking and eating at the same time or in close proximity of each other Not fully hydrating Not taking time for you and not exercising etc. etc. etc. But these are all fixable things! The rules exist for a reason. They work! They get results!
Honestly, sugary foods, and sugar alcohol sweetened waters make me MORE hungry! They wake up my cravings! Same with candy bars Protein Bars. To me those things have no place during active weight loss. All they are is crack cocaine that helps sabotage your diet and plays mind games with your resolve. Maybe some of you can eat them as a snack during maintenance in order to drive calories up to maintain? But they wake up cravings in most of us.
I'm much better off eating a cheese stick and a hard boiled egg than eating a protein bar! Even beef Jerky and cheese sticks are better than protein bars! They have P3 packs (cheese, meat, nuts or boiled egg, cheese, nuts) that can be stuck into a back pack! Easy meal on the go! Etc. There ARE solutions. They just may not be as "nummy" as a candy bar! But they ARE more feeling and won't drive cravings!
Go back to the basics. Kick the taste of sweet to the curb. Meal prep on days off! Go back to eating "boring" easy button meals for 2 of 3 meals. You can turn this around and finish what you started without more surgery or diet pills...just sayin'!!

Recently I gained six pounds. I was sleeved 16 months ago. I have a threshold weight that I use as my weight barometer. Once I get to that weight I know I'm in the danger zone. For me the weight is 160lbs. I went to 162lbs. My first goal was to find out what to attribute the weight gain to. So, I poured over my food diaries and found that I was making fruit smoothies. It seems that the fruit smoothies caused the weight gain. I stopped the fruit smoothies and started on a plan to loose the weight. Since I don't go to the gym I needed to incorporate some form of physical activity into my day. I live in a high-rise building and decided to walk the 12 flights of stairs instead of taking the elevator. I also increased my Water intake and cut out my after dinner snack. I'm glad to say that I lost seven pounds and I'm down to 155lbs.
20 years ago I lost close to 70lbs but I never set a threshold weight. So when I would gain six pounds it wasn't urgent for me to lose it. Subsequently those six pounds turned to 15 pounds then to 30 pounds until I regained the 70 pounds and then some. For me, I need to set a threshold weight so that I know I'm in danger.

Neversaynever reacted to RickM in What month is the most weight lost?
Usually it is the first month that is the biggest, even with the third week stall, as there is a big slug of Water weight that gets lost at the outset. If someone loses a lot on a pre-op diet, they may have already lost that water weight so that their first month post op may be lower than someone who didn't diet ahead of time. In either case, we usually have a slowly declining loss rate as we proceed as it simply takes fewer calories to move us around at 300 lb than we were at 400 lb. and fewer still at 200 lb vs. 300 lb. Just a general trend, as some months may be higher or lower than adjacent months, and we stair step our way down - we may go through several days or even weeks with little or no loss (or even a bit of gain - that water weight thing again) and then, boom - a big loss that gets us back on trend again.
Within that, and beyond the semi-normal third week stall, stalls may happen at any time - or not at all.

And I hope he steps up and starts figuring some things out! I am a recent (3 month) PICC line user (November 29 2018- February 26 2019) although I was happy with lessing of my malnourishment symptoms and believe you me, YOU CAN FEEL A DIFFERENCE, I realize now the 1400+ calories it contained slowed my weight loss almost to a stand- still. About a pound or so a month. March 1, so right after -267 pounds , now I do not own a home scale, after ichucked one in the dumpster after it refused work right, long before surgery, when I was trying to lose weight with my diet pills and was getting nowhere fast, bet I am the only person in history to take 1 month of Phenteramine and GAIN 30 pounds! So I only weigh at my PCP and surgeons offices. Drum Roll Please- March 26 2019- 234.6 pounds, my Golden Honeymoon Months may NOT be over- they always you have just so many months of smoother quicker weight loss and then things slow down. This makes me feel better about ME, see I started out in October 2017 with a highest admitted weight of 365+ , I say "plus" because I was so disheartened by how my body was " back-stabbing" my best efforts to lose, I refused to climb on another scale. Figured the the next step would be the Farmers Equity where they weigh out feeds on a massive scale. Went through a bariatric Plan for the second time, quite a story there, went almost all the way , my job was terminated, lost the insurance that would paid it and surgeon's office failed to inform me I could have gone with my secondary which had less stringent requirments and I could have had my surgery, although I was one month short of finishing Plan # 1 requirments, this was August 2015 through January 6 2016. PCP sent me back to that place again after the monster weight gain, went through all their. specifications, jumped in and out of hoops they erected, tried to act righteous, followed their " Company Rules" only to be told in February 2018 their head surgeon. no longer felt any urge to do my surgery, would not permit his 2 or 3 partners to do it either. Yep kicked" right to the curb" after he had raped my insurances of all the monies He could get. I finally got mental closure on it, God says I should forgive the Stupid Sack,of Offal, but I shall never forget! So I transferred to OSU, the place I should have gone to in the first place. Would you believe my PCP sent me to place #1 because he thought it was " Christian- Based" and what a Giant Farce that was! Went through Ohio States requirements, there were a few extras I still had to do, but in consideration of me not filing an equivalent of "Breach of Promise suit" they were forced to release all my previous records with no detrimental observations. And another thing to my benefit , Ohio State actually liked me, pledged to work with me to make my weight loss journey and surgery a Good Thing. And on September 5th 2018 I received the RnY bypass I had been struggling to receive for over 3 years. It will be forever my Wonder Wednesday, my Day of Days when all my mental pain, all my sorrows and my feelings of unworthiness went away. And I am eternally grateful for the second surgeon, he was a better person as well as a more skilled and compentant surgeon than that poor excuse for a Human Being I first encountered. As you may have guessed I have not had the easiest of healings afterwards, I am now 73 and some things just don't heal as qucickly or smoothly as they might were I In my 20s or 30s, but THEY have been with me, supportive all the way! " This isn't working? Okay we will find an alternate way of doing it!"And although I could not have forecast these 7 months they have still contained joys and successes. I am still in IT to WIN IT and the rest of my life will be the BEST of my life. This is a vow, I am seeing Onderland ahead for me, where I can break the 200 pound barrier and in the distance shining like a beacon is my Finish Line, my Victory Lane and I am going to make it THERE! My Will is STRONG, my body? Well it may be only along for the ride but we are going to make it THERE!
