I ate watermelon about 4 weeks post op. I figured since it could be easy to mush up and its mostly Water, it would be ok. I did have some discomfort but nothing to serious. I found that all I had to do was wait a few more weeks and I had no problem. At 6 weeks post op I could tolerate about anything, Though I am still taking it easy on a few things that I got some stern warnings about like bread and the skin of fruit and vegetables. Sometimes I'll even eat a few bites of that just to see how well my stomach can tolerate it. So far so good. I'm almost 8 weeks out now, My advise is to try things slow, just a few bites just to make sure your stomach is ready for it. Soon enough you'll be doing great.

I began eating fruit during the end of my second week out and watermelon and my pouch tolerated it well. As a matter of fact I eat fruit quite often aas dessert along with cottage cheese. Also, if you like blueberries or other fruit they can be incorporated with yogurt in order to get in your Protein count for the day.

Yep I did. Other than I did, and still do feel restriction when I eat dense Proteins like beef and chicken. Congratulations! It was great to gave such an easy recovery.
But now is a good time to start measuring and tracking everything you eat and drink if you aren't already. Your restriction is only going to lessen over time and it will get easier and easier to out eat your sleave. Making sure you keep up with your Protein and Water goals (mine are 80+g and 100+ ounces) and staying away from sliders and triggers are something you will have to do for life. And unfortunately it's something YOU have to do....your sleeve won't do it for you.

I had regular random nausea for about a month ( started around week 3). Water was the worst--no one told me that water was particularly hard! I discovered I could drink warm things (hot choc SF, apple cider SF) easier. Generally, the doc said it just happens like that some times, so I just kept saying it would pass, and one day a out week 6, it did! Hope that happens for you soon.

My surgery was Sept 27 and up until this week I have been nauseated almost every meal.
One things that caused mine is that I was not eating slow enough.
There is an app called "Eat Slower", this has helped me a lot. You don't realize how fast you are eating....
Are you eating your Protein first? That is important....Then you should fill up on low starch veggies and then have very little carb.
You should introduce one new food at a time and see how you handle it....See if that helps...if not, I would talk to your Dr. or NUT and see what they say.

I started walking 1/2 mile 3 days postoperative and increased distance and speed each day. Did an 8k run/ walk event at 2.5 weeks with my best walking AV time at that time. .15:16 per mile. I have continued power walking since then (8/17) and have continued walking regularly and have now walked 223 miles. Last walk was 2 days ago and covered 10.2 miles. . Avignon. 14:17 min/mile. Exercise is important to my weight loss. Started upper body at about 2 months.

I had lettuce earlier this week for the first time when my Dr said I could. It just about killed me! What I do now in order to get my salad in is substitute the lettuce for spinach. It has Protein in it (not much though) and it's very healthy!!

I am over 9 weeks post op. I started eating lettuce at about 7 weeks. My nutritionist said to start slowly with it and see how I did with it, so that's what I did. I had no problems at all eating it. Now I have a small salad everyday with my chicken for lunch or dinner. It's mixed lettuce.... romaine and another kind and a bit of purple cabbage too.
Yesterday, I decided to try raw broccoli florets with my hummus for my afternoon snack. I did fine with it. Today I bought roma tomatoes and a cucumber to make a cucumber and Tomato salad with a homemade italian vinegrette dressing, that way I can try even more fresh veggies.
I am eating about 4 oz of Protein for lunch and dinner, along with raw or cooked veggies and trying to really limit the carbs. I am so pleased that I'm able to eat raw veggies and not have a problem with them.

Yes, people will be very CONCERNED ( in my sarcastic voice) about your eating habits now. I know most of the time it's jealousy because you were rave enough to take the bull by the horn and change your life for a healthier lifestyle. Brush the haters off and keep working. You owe no one anything . I have had so many co workers/ friends make little snide remarks about my food choices and surgery as well as my clothes being too big and I just say something bk to them to shut them up. This is my journey and will not be interrupted by jealous people who want to take me down.... not gonna happen. FYI, if they had opportunity to switch places they would in a heartbeat. Stay strong n keep pushing to goal.

I've seen that too. But the people that marry are able to love each other for what's inside. I think that must just be a very rare quality to find.

I've gotten mostly elastic pants so the waist fits longer like Jennings and yoga / exercise pants. I also got clothes at Sam's club. I'm a nurse and wear scrubs 5 days / week so I also don't really need anything dressy... thank the lord. I have gotten into this concept of a wardrobe capsule where you have just a few pieceds of clothing that can all be mixed and matched. I think this is helpful too as I don't want to drop a bunch of money into temporary clothing.

    Congratulations on your weight loss!
As far as a shake alternative, have you tried an unflavored Protein Powder? I have used Unjury and Isopure, and they are really a great alternative to shakes, because you can mix them into drinks and/or foods such as yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.
The powder mixes well into Crystal Light, Powerade Zero, or, my favorite, Decaf iced tea. I like the fact that it will help me get my Protein up to 90-100 grams a day, which has been the magic number for me dropping the weight over the last few weeks.
You might want to give it a try.

Mary Aane reacted to EmmyJ in To diet or to do WLS
I chose to have surgery because I did all of these diets, low carb included, and it wasn't enough. When I had this surgery, I still had to change my whole way of eating, but now I also have the tool of the restriction to kickstart my body into actually shedding the pounds. Now, when I follow a plan, the weight actually comes off. WLS isn't a shortcut that works independently of diet; it's a catalyst to make the lifestyle change effective.
