lb2017 reacted to MoLiver4u in Stall
I think I wrote the exact same post as you 2 weeks out. I shed a chunk of weight pretty fast post surgery and then BAM - nothing! I think it took more than 2 more weeks before I started losing again. Two things have helped me deal with this:
1. Stop weighing yourself as much as possible - The more I weigh myself the more frantic and discouraged I get. The focus works better if you just try to put it on building a new, healthy lifestyle instead of looking at the numbers as much.
2. Look at the overall loss - You have lost X amount of weight in Y time period. I'm 3.5 months out and I've lost 33.5lbs in that time. I think there were 3 consecutive weeks where I lost nothing but overall I'm happy with the change.
Remember this post and, in a few months when you see some other new sleever posting about their stall make sure to come back and reassure them;)

I had a massive Hiata Hernia repair. I actually had my gallbladder out, hiatal hernia repair and VGS. Both the gallbladder and hernia doubled my surgery time. And my recovery was pretty long, like 12 weeks were for REALS. lol!

I had a grade 3 para-esophageal hiatal hernia repaired at the time of my sleeve. At first my surgeon suggested RNY, but when I said I didn't want that he was fine with doing the sleeve. The surgery was quite a bit longer than is typical for the sleeve, but to me it felt like a bonus to get both at once. The first surgeon I saw for my hiatal hernia wanted to do an open incision surgery with a week in the hospital and 6 weeks home recovery. My bariatric surgeon did both and I was home in 2 days and back to work in 2 weeks!

I had my sleeve, a hernia repair and my gall bladder out at the same time.... no issues at all. My recover was the same as a sleeve alone. I went back to work after 3 weeks and am doing just fine. I took no narcotic pain meds and was up and out of bed quickly. Do realize that everyone is different but repairing a hernia is not uncommon during surgery.

I could breathe fine on my own, but not deeply. I was using the incentive spirometer but was not getting it nearly as high as they wanted. I spent a really long time in post op recovery before going to my room because I couldn't breathe deeply enough. The concern with shallow breathing is developing pneumonia post-anesthesia. That being said- I had heartburn every day every from Water before surgery and haven't had it all all in the 5 days since.

I had surgery on Wednesday with hiatal hernia repair. Didn't overly add to recovery but did make breathing deep harder.

I had the switch with hiatal hernia on 4/4 with a gall bladder removal. My doc said the hernia repair is quick and only adds 15mins to surgery. The only issue I had was inflammation in the esophagus where they did the repair. Nothing would go down. But that only lasted a day or so after surgery. I've been quite well since then.

Oh nice ok! I was wondering if the repair would slow down the recovery time. But thank you for that[emoji6]

I had an umbilical hernia repaired when I had my sleeve. It didn't bother me at all post-op.

Has anyone had the surgery that has or had PCOS? Have you noticed any changes in your body such as your menstrual cycle?

Yeah had that happen too but I'm thankful I don't really have pcos symptoms apart form a beard!
Have discovered tho that if you have PCOS - don't get the Impanon nexplanon implant as it does weird with bleeding.

I also forgot to mention that prior to the surgery, I have gone without a period for over a year at times. I am in my 20s. Best decision, EVER.

Wow! That is awesome! Congratulations! I'm so excited. Right now I'm taking a medication to come on my period. I haven't had the surgery yet but I will this year. I'm still in the beginning phase of going to classes and seminars and all that good stuff!

I'm not too far postop, but I've noticed that the two periods I've had since surgery were miraculously on time. I have another one due in 8 days so I'm eager to see if it arrives on time.

I have had a period for every cycle since the surgery which was 11 months ago. I recently came back from a vacation in a third world country where I had no access to meat, Protein Shakes or a scale and I have lost 5 pounds instead of gaining which I was afraid was going to be the result of it. I am 5 pounds away from my goal weight.

For me, purging carbs from my life was a necessity to be successful. I restrict myself to 20 carbs per day, and have been that way for over a year now. Once you get used to it, it is just a way of life. I have a passing thought about something carby every now and then, but it passes. Losing almost 190 pounds is worth a lot more to me than any food, drink, or carbohydrate!
