I am still pre-op but i literally have NO clothes! I live in California, so I am kind of curious how much you are asking, how would we figure out what you have that I might like to get, and then figure out a price? Do you have a page with pics? I never have bought clothes online from another individual lol so this is interesting but totally helpful because who wants to pay full price for clothes that we aren't going to be wearing for very long, right?!

#1 have you considered a dueodenal switch? if not, you may want to consider that. Sleeve is the first step in the switch and it has the best stats for long term weight loss, it iis what rny'ers switch to, if they aren't losing.
as to cooking and healthy food choices i belong to a Facebook group that is great support for that.

One year today on December 15, 2014, I was given a new life and a second chance to live my life to the fullest instead of letting it pass me by. I want to wish myself a Happy One Year Anniversary on my weight loss journey! I may not have hit my goal of losing 200lbs by today, but I am proud of the 185lbs that I have lost. Plus, I know that I will get pass this stall and hit my goal of 239 very soon. This journey has had its ups and downs but it is worth it, so I can live to grow old with my husband and see our kids grow up and have a family of their own. I have to thank my family and friends for all the love and support they have given me while I have been on this journey. It is just the beginning for me and my family, as we all start to really enjoy life and all that it has to offer.

What a difference a year makes! Before was New Year's Eve 2014, my surgery was January 15, 2015 and what I look like now. The amazing part of this journey of discovery is that I know and believe I'm amazing in both pics, but I am kinda feeling myself on the after pic! One of the best ways I've chosen to take care of myself! HW:275, SW: 256, CW: 172

9 months and 96 pounds lost. I can hardly believe it. Finally eating healthier and burning 300-900 calories at the gym 3 times a week is actually working and it only took having a little surgery.

I was sleeved in 2012, and am currently working on getting revision to gastric bypass [emoji17] I was initially very successful and hit goal after 2 years. However... I had a baby in July 2015 and not only gained back my weight but went into such a deep depression I gained almost 100+pounds. Not typical of most sleevers but just sharing my personal story. I had my tubes tied and this time around I will be doing things BY THE BOOK! Good luck to you!

Rachel I won my appeal finally! I fought and fought and after the peer failed I began the personal appeal and nailed it. I found out on Thursday, saw my doc on Friday, went to the pre-op class today and surgery is Tuesday the 7th. What a whirlwind. I hope yours is going smoother than mine was.

The biggest change for me, in addition to the food restriction and lack of hunger, is the hormonal change that comes with RNY. Your tastes for certain foods actually changes with RNY. I am completely grossed out by anything sweet: Cookies, cakes, baked goods, candy, sweet drinks -- anything. In addition, I am grossed out by high-fat and heavy foods. What I crave is clean and fresh food. This change in cravings due to hormonal changes was totally unexpected, but it has been FANTASTIC. We went husband's family Xmas part last December, which is a feast of Desserts. NOTHING appealed to me. In fact, I had to stay out of the dessert room because it grossed me out so much.

Hi! Yes.....got a different patient advocate and was approved! Surgery date was 12/1 so I got it done last year and the cost was zero since I had met deductible and my max out of pocket! Since starting the 6 month approval process to today I'm down 60 lbs! Thank you for asking! ?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I've been scared to move forward with surgery in Mexico, but I'm researching and reading so many positive reviews about Dr Illan and BariatricPal. I think I'm ready for the next step. I'm also in Alaska! So if you don't mind, I'd like to pm you with some travel and experience questions. Let me know if that's ok. Hoping to schedule surgery before June 2017.

So I had my surgery yesterday in Mexico with Dr Ortiz and it was an amazing experience. The nurses and doctors were fabulous and the facility is immaculate. One of the coolest parts is while you're in the hospital they are not in your room 20 times/night and if they do they tiptoe in, change your IV bag and leave! And it's soooo quiet and peaceful. I woke up with very minimal gas pain ready to take this challenge head on. So good luck and prayers for all of you who will soon have a smaller tummy and a beautiful healthy life ahead of you.

chunkymunkey916 reacted to James Marusek in Adiposity Based Chronic Disease (ABCD)
In a new position statement, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) have replaced the word “obesity” with “Adiposity-Based Chronic Disease” (ABCD).
While that sounds like a clunky switch, the authors have laid out why a simple notion should be replaced with what they call a "complications-centric" approach to the diagnosis and treatment of excess body fat (adiposity). It's more complex than something like BMI. By making this change they have decided to use a new term that puts more emphasis on the chronic diseases that result from excess body fat. Here is a link to the article that discusses this change. http://acsh.org/news/2017/01/20/abcd-obesity-has-new-name-will-it-stop-epidemic-10751

chunkymunkey916 reacted to James Marusek in Exercise Reduces Aging
If feeling older than you look appeals to you, take a seat while you read this: A recent study found that women who sit longer than 10 hours a day, combined with low physical activity, have cells that are biologically older — eight years older to be exact — than their actual age.
The study looked at the lifestyles of 1,500 women, between the ages of 64 and 90, who are part of a Women's Health Inititative (WHI) — a national study on chronic disease and postmenopausal women. Researchers found that women who sat for more than ten hours per day, and exercised less than 40 minutes daily, had shorter telomeres — the caps at the ends of DNA strands which protect chromosomes. Shorter telomeres have been associated with increased risk for disease and poor survival, which is why low activity combined with prolonged sitting can contribute to cell aging. The picture was not as bad for women who incorporated at least 30 minutes of daily moderate to vigorous physical activity, even if they spent most of their day sitting at a desk. http://acsh.org/news/2017/01/20/tips-age-fast-sit-more-exercise-less-10753 Well let me inject a few words about this discussion. DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is a molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms. Essentially they are the blueprints of life. Within the DNA are nucleotide composed of one of four nitrogen-containing nucleobases—either cytosine ©, guanine (G), adenine (A), or thymine (T)—and a sugar called deoxyribose and a phosphate group. The order of building blocks in a strand of DNA makes up a "sequence." We can read a DNA sequence like letters in a book. In fact, we know the sequence of the entire human genome—all 3 billion letters. This DNA structure defines each individual, the color of our hair and eyes and skin etc. Most of the DNA is core and very important. But at the end of the DNA strand is DNA that seems to provide no purpose, it is called Junk DNA. But in reality Junk DNA (telomeres) do serve an important function. The reason is that when the DNA replicates, it loses a little of the strand of junk DNA at its ends. Eventually as we age, this junk DNA gets shorter and shorter and eventually it eats into the core DNA. When it does, it introduces anomalies, age related sicknesses. So this article is saying that exercise can reduce the loss of the junk DNA and we can live long healthier lives as a result.
