I agree. I searched for hours and came up empty handed. I'm sure were aren't the only ones wanting to know/asking.

They all have a *taste* its deciding which one you can tolerate.

    Protein water

I drink the Atkin's Lift berry flavour sometimes. It's a bit sweet for me... but I just use it as a gap filler to meet my protein targets.

    Soup suggestions

I got miso soup and wanton broth delivered. It was such a nice break from the cream soups.

    1st pureed meal post op

I'm in puree for another week, I've been living off the same things everyday: Meal 1 - poached egg, 2.5 melba toast and 1/2 cup of applesauce Meal 2 - cottage cheese 2/3 cup Meal 3 - refried beans 2/3 cup (I blend it with salsa and cheese and greek yogurt for extra protein) Meal 4 - ricotta bake Meal 5 - greek yogurt Meal 6 - 2 laughing cow wedges with 6 whole week soda crackers I just can't stand the protein drinks anymore.
  9. I have noticed a disruption with my sleep. And, I should be using my CPAP machine for my sleep apnea and I'm not. I've got to take better care of myself. I tell myself this every day. I've noticed a change in my feelings and I'm not sure what it is.. regret? mourning the old way of life? mourning food? I'm not sure what it is.. I just keep active, get my hydration in and hope that with time I'll feel a bit better about things.
  10. That dent on your left side will disappear. It's an internal stitch holding your muscle etc. back together that they had to cut through. It will dissolve on its own. I've got one too - and I'm a month out today. I saw my surgeon Monday and it will *release* in time. Don't worry about it.

    2 years 20 lbs in 3 months

I'm almost four weeks out, so I haven't been through the different phases. Have you made an appointment to see your nut? I would definitely start there. Getting meals and snacks back, maybe a return to those basic things you learned after your surgery. And start small. Pick a slider food and decide you don't have room for it. Or better yet, revamp it and make a healthy version. Good luck!
  12. @OutsideMatchInside that is what my surgeon said as well. I've suffered lately at midnight. It seems my pantorprazole wears off after 16 hours. They said I could double up but they gave me some other ideas as well. Such as sleeping on a wedge, and stopping eating/drinking at 8 am (a few hours before bed). I'm going to try these suggestions first.

    Hair loss after surgery?

I hope this doesn't happen to me, I'm just four weeks out. I'm hitting my protein targets, taking biotin and going to start Nioxin soon. I know all these measures won't stop it.. but it makes me feel better knowing I am trying lol

    Subway lovers beware! Eeeeeeh!

I always went for the tuna. Glad I did. That chicken, gross.

    Signs when you're full

I've started puree and I'm almost 4 weeks post op. I am finding I feel discomfort/pressure after swallowing when I am *full* and using this as the benchmark to stop.
  16. I use the Premier Protein shakes, and the banana cream is my favorite.
  17. I'm from BC and waited and recently had surgery in province paid for my provincial healthcare after a long wait. There have been recent news reports of people returning here with complications. Life is full of risk, to each their own.
  18. I think the the preoperative work is important. We changed our meal plans and even some of the foods we were eating so that by the time we got to our pre-op diets (which were whole food) it wasn't such a big change. I also focused for months on training myself to eat and drink separately. Being and remaining physically active has been challenging at times through this process has been one thing I have struggled with. The other, which I want to work through now is the psychological aspects. I want to understand how I became obese, understand my relationship with food better and develop a healthier relationship with it. I really love your first point. Prior to this I was resolved to be obese or hungry for the rest of my life. That is no way to live. Now the struggle is to eat/drink when you have no desire to, which is a whole different ballgame.

    Sip your Veggies

Being that I have struggled with T2 diabetes I am not sure that I'd juice. The fiber actually helps with blood sugar spikes and I'm thinking juice still have natural sugars and carbs. I would be more open to try smoothies. That said. I'm still early out, less than 4 weeks at this point and have just started puree. I've had V8 juice in the last week but have found that while delicious and providing a serving of veggies, it lacks protein and there really just isn't *room* for this liquid in my diet. To each their own.
  20. I wouldn't. I live in Canada and our healthcare system pays for this treatment for obesity. Also, the news here are quick to point out the people who have come back with complications. Now, our healthcare system does pay... but I had to wait 2 years. It's a first come first serve system. Waiting can be anywhere from 6 months to 7 years + depending on where you live in our country.

    Liquid Stage idea

Prepared protein shakes are handy for on the go. I got Premier Protein from Costco.

    Hair Loss

From what I understand it is a process that is triggered by the trauma of surgery and that it actually begins long before the hair actually starts falling out. And! That the new hair hasn't yet come in. We can take all the preventative steps possible such as hitting protein targets, taking biotin and using products like nioxin but if its going to happen to you... it will happen. And it will stop when it is done. The good thing is that the hair will grow back. I am just four weeks out and haven't yet encountered this problem, and I've armed myself with all the preventative measures knowing it may just fall out still. I can only hope that this side effect will be short term. And! I could only hope if it does fall out that it grows in thicker. I have just thin fine hair.

3rd week post op & hungry again

From what I understand this feeling of hunger could be acid reflux. Another explanation is head hunger. And lastly, as the swelling and inflammation goes down in our new tummies we tend to get a feeling of being *hungry* and that should subside once we move on to more denser foods such as puree and soft foods.

    Incisions......

This is where I really failed. I left my list of questions at home and was distracted by our conversation on other issues. He said the incisions are healing really well and the one with the hole will fill in. I forgot to ask about the cream. I'm going to email the bariatric nurse tomorrow and ask her to ask him.
  25. I think the only measure you can take is surgery. All other things may improve the appearance, and when you stop so does the improved appearance.
