    1) My lower back pain makes it hard to do daily activities.
    2) I want to be able to keep up with my young children and fit husband.
    3) It would be nice to go shopping in any store, rather than looking for stores that cater to plus size.
    4) My brother had 3 strokes last year at 29 yrs old. I'm about to turn 28 and am terrified.
    5) I want to jump on a trampoline without being scared I'll break it. I want to stop being afraid to fall down. I want to run. I want to hike. I don't want to keep sitting in my living room anymore.
I've managed to get significant weight off twice in the last 10 years, but I always find it again. Hopefully this kind of commitment will change me and the way I see food permanently.

You look amazing! I second having a heavier fabric liner under so that it can flow a bit more. But you really don't need it!

Like others, I will be putting away money now for the next 1.5-2 years to get plastics done. However, I don't see that as a gift to myself, it's just the second part of the weight loss journey. I would also like to get a tattoo, but I would wait until after plastics are finished.
So, for hitting goal, I'd like to do something that I would never have been able to do at my current or highest weight, like climb Kilimanjaro, or hike to Everest base camp, or see the gorillas in Uganda/Rwanda (forgetting the fact that the hours+ hike through a humid jungle would have been a killer, apparently the silverback gorillas feel threatened by "large" (i.e. obese) humans and will sometimes show displays of aggression towards them). Or there are some great walks that I would like to do, such as the Camino de Santiago in France/Spain or the Machu Picchu trek in Peru. I'll probably need to keep a separate savings account for any of those trips as well.

I read about a professional body builder who had lost a significant amount of weight. When she does the bikini walk she looks amazing. Turns out she pulls the extra skin up, puts double sided tape on it, then folds it like the flap to an envelope.

She's very very low body fat, so Idk if this would work in the real world, but I thought I'd pass it along. Maybe something like that could give you a smoother appearance and more confidence. But I still think you look great.

Perspective man, we have gained perspective. Just wait until you are cleared for soft foods. My first food after liquids was black bean humus. In a cold and bleak March, as I took a baby spoonful of these pureed Beans, the clouds parted and a chorus of angels could be heard vocalizing in beautiful harmony as I savored my meal.

NEVER EVER EVER go to the Grocery store when you are 3 days in to your pre-op liquid diet. My preparation left a lot to be desired. I decided that starting my liquid phase 4 days early was a Great idea lol. They almost had to mop up the drool on aisle 9. I wasn't even obsessing over any of the wrong foods but those Rotisserie Chickens were calling my name laying there looking all Sexy. I am Thankful to say that I survived and left the Store felling like Conan The Barbarian all Rough, Tough and Victorious.

GREAT poll Alex! I chose 'other'. My big hold up was actually food. yes, the thing i wanted to get away from was the thing that held down the pause button for me for over a year.
It's hard enough to admit you have a food addiction, but like most other addictions, 'just quitting' is almost never possible. I simply was not ready to bid farewell to my friend, food.
Now I am 3 days post op. Only 3. But...well, besides the soreness and the drain I have to deal with, I already feel better!
Today I went outside to just stroll around the yard while my hubby mowed the lawn. My husband came up to me and wiped a few tears and said to me "it's just so good to see you outside again after so long"...you see, it had been at least 2 years, maybe 3 since I had gone outside to bask in the sun, sit in a lawn chair, just enjoy the fresh air. before surgery, my only priority was sitting inside and eating as much as I could. Now i KNOW that this surgery will change my life.

Yes, yes I could do that but it would not be as much fun as seeing his face scrunch up like a little boy would it...lol

Poku got a reaction from Alex Brecher in What Do You Think about Food Ads?
I think they're terrible, my 7 & 5 year olds get excited asking to eat the junk they see on TV. It's what I was raised on and I know better than to feed it to my children, but I also hate feeling like I'm depriving them of the foods they want.
I switched to internet viewing because the ads are not so bad or constant as they are with cable.

Every time I got on the digital scale at my surgeon's office it was always 10-15 pounds heavier than my digital scale at home.
At my 1 month post-op I was 398 pounds on my home scale and the same day at the surgeon's office they insisted that I was 412!
They insisted their scale was right. Well, today I had my 3 month post-op appointment and I brought my digital scale from home.
My scale said I was 360. Their scale said I was 360. Then they told me they recently had their scales calibrated because they were inaccurate.
HA! I WAS RIGHT! I AM VINDICATED!!!!
I just wanted to post this and vent.
    Thanks.
