I saw this picture and it really resonated with me. There are going to be days when you fall off plan a little bit but all you need to do is get back on that train. I wanted to share this because I think everyone can relate!
This weekend I know I fell off a little bit, traveling is always extra hard on me but today is a new day! I'm back on plan and ready to take on some healthy meals.

    Onward and downward!

I am down 28 lbs since starting my pre-op diet. 17 of that 28 has been post-op. I lost in the 1st week post-op, and then didn't lose anything for 2 weeks straight. Then I lost 3 lbs this week! Funny how this all works. I have advanced from soft food to cooked veggies, to eggs and Beans, and now chicken and shrimp. I have tolerated each food really well. I am at the point that I am getting more than 1/2 of my daily Protein goals from real food. Still have some minor discomfort at my incision sites, but for the most part, back to normal. Can't wait to get approval to get back to working out. As promised in my last post, I am attaching a photo of my incisions.Barely noticeable already!

Normal! That's exactly what I'm going trough. Through this process I was just ready to get it done with. Now that I have an actual date, and start my liquid diet tomorrow, I'm completely paranoid and scared.

We got this. We will be okay!

I felt the EXACT same thing. I was so excited for the approval phone call, but once I got it BAM reality hit that this was really going to happen. If I had been denied then it wouldn't have been me making the choice and I could blame insurance. All the way up to the day of my surgery (really up to the minute) I was thinking of ways to get out of it. The only reason I went through with it really is was I didn't want to look bad to my family. However, I had my RNY on 10/19/16 and I can say now I am SO glad I did it. There were some rough weeks not just physically but I was an emotional mess as well. After those first few weeks I started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it was beautiful! I'm 63lbs down so far, my sleep apnea has resolved already and within three months my cholesterol went from 315 to 178! I just feel healthier and have more energy. I won't lie to you and say it will be a walk in the park(although for some it is) but it is so worth every struggle. My best wishes for you and if ya need to talk I'm here.

My best luck in maintaining hydration was warm or hot fluids. Cold fluids causes constriction and more pain.

Good morning all, I've been lurking these forums awhile, but just officially joined today. I'm seeking support, ideas, new information and a way to participate with other members.
I was banded yesterday, January 27 at NYU by Dr. Schwack. I arrived by 7:30 AM, operated on by 9:30, released by 2:30 PM.
I've been experiencing the typical post surgical pain: gas pains yesterday, today they has mostly subsided, but now I feel the stomach and surrounding muscles are sore. I find the liquid Vicodin is effective for 3 of the prescribed 4 hours.
I've been able to drink Water, cool coffee and the Protein Shakes.
How long does the adominal soreness last, typically? I do not want to become dependent on the liquid Vicodin, but that seems to be my only relief from sharp pains in the band area. I have a follow up this coming Friday with the NYU staff.

goldenwhisper66 reacted to Karamel in Arterial Blood Gases...The most painful Labdraw..WHY?
I am a respiratory therapist and I drawn ABG's on patients all the time. The problem with them is that to get to your artery you have to go right by a bundle of nerves hence the pain. I can only say that it is a useful tool for someone having surgery because it can be an indicator of an underlying condition.
An ABG measures blood pH, oxygenation, CO2 and bicarb levels.
I know that doesnt help the pain but I had to put my two cents in since I'm usually the one on the other side of the needle lol.

No I haven't been fat all my life. Just the past 20 years and I'm 52 now. Why I decided to have lap band? I am stubborn. I know all the right things to do. Eat right and exercise was something I knew exactly how to do. I just didn't want to do it. I was married with two great kids. I got around just fine. Clothes looked "ok" on me. And I was comfortable with my self. But one day I got scared. I thought about how lucky I was to not have any serious health issues. I was 50 and had perfect blood pressure. No diabetic problems. No muscular problems. And I thought one of these days all that is going to change. After all I have a horrible history of all those problems with both parents. So... I decided I needed to get my self in gear and get healthy now before it was too late. I did some research and found out the surgery was covered by my insurance and I decided to bite the bullet. I started this on December 21 and have no regrets thus far. I know I'm doing te right thing for me.

Hang in there. I got banded in 2009 and it took my surgeon and I 10 months to get the right fill. I started out at 308 pounds and it took me a couple of years to get down to the weight I am now (180's). I used to give up hope from time to time but I kept telling myself as I lost the weight "you never thought you'd get to 300 and now look at you, you never thought you'd get to 285 and now look at you" and keep saying that as the scale started to go down.
My body is still not my idea of perfect and I still see the heavy me in the mirror from time to time, but it has been a worthwhile journey. I also slip and eat more of the "easy" foods than I should- m&m's for a meal? Yes please. We all still have to deal with the psychological baggage that come from being fat, but know you're not alone in that regard. I do the Atkins diet when I want to center my eating again.
My biggest advice to help keep you on track when you feel like the scale isn't moving: look to those non-scale victories: do your clothes feel better? Can you walk up stairs without getting winded? Can you fit into a chair with armrests? Whatever your mini goal is-- you should be proud of yourself for taking this step and remember you're body is changing in ways you might not be able to see.

Tap the < at the top of the screen twice on the next screen swipe down and < at the top of that screen swipe down and < at the top of this screen. Now you should be able to tap the top right corner and view your notifications. Almost as tricky as getting an approval for surgery.
