Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
Spouses usually need to know. What if there are complications? Who will take care of you and pick up your slack? Who has to deal with the hormonal outbursts? If you don't live with them, they don't need to know..... But if you do, they do.

Why Did You Gain Weight?
I remember stepping on a scale when I was in 2nd grade. It said 105lbs. I thought to myself, "If I just don't gain any more weight, I'll be perfect as an older teenager." No one else was heavy in my house. There was a lot of pasta and day old doughnuts, but why was I always the only one that needed seconds? Looking back at photos, I appeared to be a normal weight until first or second grade, and other than moving from Florida to Georgia, I don't know of anything that changed. The move wasn't upsetting. I sucked my thumb until I was 11 years old (5th grade). That was a comfort thing. Maybe food was too? Lots of questions, not so many answers!

I was wondering this myself. It's thicker than pudding, so best to wait for soft food I think.

Sugar Addiction
Easter candy? Wow, I hadn't even noticed! I have 3 kids... It is everywhere, just hadn't crossed my mind. Huh. I'm also almost a month post op. Ate some cheese off the top of a white pizza. Dis-cust-ing! Lots to learn apparently...

Can't keep up...
He is absolutely showing signs of depression. He has withdrawn and changed. He needs counseling asap. It would be good to find someone that will work with him by himself most of the time and bring you in on occasion to address your point of view.

Swelling while walking
I learned during a walking class in college to keep the elbows bent and arms pumping while walking. That keeps the swelling down.

Sore Tailbone!
Apparently removal is a legitimate fix for severe cases. Perhaps try concentrating on glute exercises. If the muscles get larger, they may provide some buffer.

Best pjs for the hospital?
I wore pj bottoms and a tshirt without a bra. They unhooked the IV long enough for me to put on the shirt. Worked really well since I was always up and walking the halls. Slipper socks would have been good. I just wore the ted socks while walking around, but I'm not particular

Not a patient
Encouragement can come in many forms. Keep in mind she isn't even allowed to lift weights for at least a month after surgery (maybe 2!). Walking is good, but patients tend to be stubborn. Maybe win her over with sweetness. "Wow. I can't believe how you transforming before my eyes! Do you want to go window shopping?" Walking around stores and trying on clothes is plenty of exercise for now. You going with her will be nice. Small surgery on the outside, big surgery on the inside. Her stomach won't be healed for 8-12 weeks at least. Some say the scar tissue won't be fully formed for 6 months. So there is time. Ideally she'll start a regular physical routine by 6-8 weeks post op. Walking 1 mile a day is a good goal to start, depending on her fitness. These early days are all about healing. Some days she'll have plenty of get up and go, and others she'll sleep all day.

6 weeks - told to go back on fluid
What Wilderness said. If things don't improve soon, they'll probably do some tests to see what the problem might be.

Drinkable Yogurt.
I've just started drinking Siggis... Really good!

I ate three marshmallow peeps five weeks post op and I'm okay with that.
If everyone ate 3 Scottish peeps, we'd all get our protein in!

Does it really take 2 years?
Ok, I thought there was issue with men vs women weight loss. Sorry if I misconstrued. This topic reminds me of a conversation I had right before surgery. My MIL asked how much weight I could lose after surgery. My starting weight was 305lbs. I told her I could end up anywhere from 155 to 200lbs, or maybe a smidge more. She frowned and said... It wouldn't be worth it to her to only get to 200lbs. (she is currently 250... With ALL that extra weight in her belly... A 50lb loss would transform that woman!) Even 200lbs would be sooo much healthier than 300. My daughter is close to that weight, and she looks stunning next to me! Of course I would be happy with that amount of weight loss! If it takes 2 years, all the better because my skin will have more time to retract. But, it really does seem like most weight is lost the first year, particularly for those that have under 100 pounds to lose. I'm not a month out yet, so can't say what will happen.

Anxiety
It is important to weigh the good, bad, and ugly. If you do it early or late, as long as you do it before surgery day, it's all good. I think everyone has cold feet close to the big day. As long as this is something you want, then closing your eyes and letting the process take you isn't such a bad thing. It's what I did!

Sun exposure after how long?
Keep your scars out of the sun for the first year. The weakened area of skin can become darkened and damaged permanently. Time for one piece swimsuits and/or sunscreen.

How are you getting enough calories?
Almost 4 weeks out, and I'm still drinking most of my protein and calories. Full fat dairy, and most days I get around 1000 cals. Carbs are higher though.

Does it really take 2 years?
Outside didn't HAVE "a tone"... What the heck! Men DO lose at about twice the rate as women. Period. With surgery, and without. Ever see the show Naked and Afraid? The men always lose a ton more than the women, given the same conditions. Fact of life, sister!
