  1. This is 5 weeks out. I expect them to turn white. There are 4.
  2. I don't know the whole story, but there was a woman that had to lose 100lbs before the surgeon would do the surgery (I don't think she weighed even 400lbs). Was working on it, and suddenly died. Haven't heard cause of death, so don't know if it was related to the diet. Best thing to do is slow and easy. Exercise, dietary changes, etc. Don't kill yourself by being all gung-ho! (Literally!)
  3. Not sure how soon you need to wear the shirt, but you'll drop a t-shirt size in about 4 weeks after surgery. Even if it is a little snug after that, it will just show off your curves! You'll do great! And in 6 months, you'll need to use it as a night shirt!
  4. You need protein. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, beans, peanut butter, meat, fish, tofu, etc. Any vitamins is better than none. Flintstones chewable complete (you need the iron) or the like. If money is an issue and you are in the US, go to social services and apply for assistance.
  5. Will wonders never cease... now we need finger tucks too?!
  6. Dang! All I had to do was switch to diet coke??? ?
  7. Did you get the blackberry unstuck?
  8. I am 5 weeks out with a sleeve. My restriction is very tight still, but things are becoming easier every day. It was so hard to imagine preop just how little food I would eat, and how satisfied I would be with it. Get a digital scale that measures in ounces and partial ounces. (Like 2.5oz, etc.). And a plate. Measure out 3oz of meat. This is your new protein serving size (for life). Weigh out 3oz of nonstarchy vegetables. Depending on your meal plan, you might have potatoes. Weigh out 2 oz. This plate of food is what you'll be eating 4 times a day forever. It will take about a year to be able to eat everything on the plate. (If the protein is tuna salad, I can finish that right now, but not touch the other things). You'll be able to have pizza or whatever again. It should just be the occasional splurge rather than the Friday routine. And be prepared to eat only one piece instead of 3. Before surgery I was eating close to 4000cal a day. It is a relief to me to look at the "forever plate".
  9. For me, that feeling of hunger was actually acid. I'd take an instant acting type of antacid, and it would go away. As long as you are getting your fluids, protein, and vitamins, you're golden.
  10. Dr.Illan did my surgery, and I am doing well 5 weeks out.
  11. My surgeon uses a drain on some patients, no drain on others. I didn't have one. No catheter either. I was so dehydrated going into surgery that I barely had to pee in the hospital at all.
  12. It is normal for clear liquids to go through pretty fast.
  13. Sustained low caloric consumption will result in heart failure. Get some help asap.
  14. This isn't a panic emergency or anything. Even if they didn't do anything, it would just be a bigger scar. I've had cuts that show the fat underneath. It just means the cut is through all layers of skin. No biggie. And it might not be fat but healing goo instead (technical term ).
  15. You are a bypass patient, right? It does sound like the fruit can get stuck in your anamosis. Hopefully another patient can give tips, but call your surgeon to let them know. Strictures can shrink the opening.
  16. Well, you did lose the first week. So you are only stuck this week so far. The second week is a major healing time for the body. Yours is probably working overtime in repair. You may also be close to a period. Give it another 7 days..
  17. Try antacids to see if that is the issue too..
  18. I also prefer drinking much of the time. I don't stress about whether my protein is coming in solid or liquid form. Eating will come in its own time. I give you permission to drink more meals (I'm not a doctor, though I play one in the bedroom!).. so take the recommendation for what its worth.
  19. Welcome! It is natural for the losses to slow down after the first couple months. Just keep chugging along, and in a year or two, you'll look like a whole new person.
  20. https://www.google.com/amp/www.runnersworld.com/trail-running-training/hydration-system-reviews-0%3Famp Here are some reviews. Personally I think a backpack style might be more comfortable, but I've never been a runner. (I hike).
  21. Since the pb is mixed in the smoothie, I haven't had trouble. I actually lick the spoon too, and that is heavier. Don't think I want to try a plain spoonful quite yet. The smoothie with yogurt can be a bit tart. Cottage cheese works too! My stall broke today! 269! (It is so much more exciting when the tens unit ticks down!) I haven't been in the 260s since 2008. Yesterday I was able to squeeze into previously too small pants. Not wearable yet, but I have faith it won't be long!
  22. Make sure you are meeting your protein and fluid goals. Did you lose a bunch preop? How many calories were you taking in prior to the preop diet? You might just be taking in too few calories and protein.
  23. Lol. Nut says listen to your body. Maxx says listen to your wife. (Berry tosses popcorn into mouth and crunches loudly)...
  24. My 2 week stall broke this morning. Guess what I did differently..... Nothing! It was just time. Everyone thinks there has to be something they can DO to "fix" a stall. But, by that reasoning, they believe they are currently doing something wrong. Unless you are power driving unicorn fraps, you aren't doing anything wrong. Nothing needs to be "fixed". Trust your body and the process.
  25. LLL's post should be a sticky.
