That's dumping! Make sure you're not eating too much sugar or carbs at one meal or drinking anything with your meal. Drink 30 mins after...dumping will go away eventually I'm 19 months post op and little makes me dump....sometimes wish I still did lol

I'm worried about this as well, but I seem to be handling cheese and yogurt okay. I don't use milk (and haven't for years) - I make my shakes with almond or soy milk, although I've noticed that I have issues with soy now that I'm post-op. Unfortunately it's hard to find almond milk here in Japan - my local supermarket does have it, but in the tiny 200ml juice box size.

After surgery, I became lactose intolerant. Anytime I drank milk or any product containing lactose, my stomach would hurt and it was a quick trip to the restroom with diarrhea. This condition cleared up after a couple months. I used Water rather than milk in my Protein Shakes as a result.

I'm 3 weeks post-op and I basically have liquid poo coming out at least 3 times a day (occasionally it's more 'formed'). Based on everything I've read here I was expecting Constipation, so I guess I should be relieved about that. That said, I do sometimes have to be careful when I cough or sneeze.

I feel like we are in the same spot. I am 40 days out from bypass. I lost 70 before surgery so I am telling myself I already lost the easy weight. I am just focusing on my Fluid intake and my Protein tracking and how I have a giant pile of clothes to donate because they are way too big! Good luck!

I wasn't given one either but I went out and bought one. It holds in the left side of me where my surgeon sewed the excess stomach to my muscle with GB. Holds my side in and helps with muscle pain.

I'm almost a month out and I wore my binder for a little over 2 weeks. It helps so much. I also, wore a tank top under mine for the itching. Much more comfortable

oh, and stalls happen. body is just adjusting to all the changes, so the scale might not move for a while. my longest stall was maybe 4 or 5 weeks...i was like ahhhhh! lol but it's good when they happen, and you need some motivation, check your tape measurements or try on something new...oftentimes during a stall, the scale doesn't move but those inches keep falling off.

On exactly what diet have you ever been on to bring your expectations up above losing half a pound A DAY?

You are making wonderful progress! Keep your chin up. Keep in mind, slower losers get less loose skin

    It's a marathon, not a sprint. You'll be fine!

I'm two days shy of being a month post-op. I haven't lost anything in over a week. Some days I don't have an appetite...I hate this Protein shake...and my tummy still feels numb by my belly button...and sometimes when I eat I don't get full quick. What is happening? I'm so discouraged and this counting protein is really getting difficult because I'm running out of options of food. Any advice?

There are a lot more options than just Protein shakes..after my gastric sleeve I couldn't handle the Protein shake..it makes me completely nauseated..but there are tons of different flavored Soups, hot chocolates, fruity Protein Drink inserts..If your surgical team doesn't sell products..just go to Amazon and put in Proti Diet or Bariatric Choice..lots of options. I'm even eating a Protein oatmeal from Proti Diet..

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.
Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes. There are many different types of formulations on Protein Shakes. I would recommend that you keep experimenting until you find one that you can tolerate. You don't have to like it, just tolerate it. I used Muscle Milk Light (vanilla Creme) powder blended with Water and a half a banana. That worked for me. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, you might try premixed Isopure.

Congrats on making it this far. On my eval they asked me a lot of questions about what a typical meal would be after surgery... what type of support systems I had and how would I act if ppl said negative things. She asked if I had been attending support group meetings. She also wanted to know my reasons for wanting the surgery. Also, how long did I think it would take me to reach desired weight to assure I didn't think it would happen quickly. She asked a lot of things twice in different ways. But you will be fine... don't think to far into it

Hello everyone, Warning beware of jealous people in your life. So my now ex but also my daughters father has as I feel always tried to sabotage me. I gained close to 100 pounds in the last 6 years since I've been with him had a baby got super comfortable and let myself go. Well since my surgery and before he was never with my lifestyle change he would bring fast food and candy into the house, he didn't work out with me on a regular basis (and mind u he is athletic and a boxer) there was no genuine encouragement nor support. He was and is a serial cheater. He told a girl he cheated on me with about me getting the surgery before i even had it and just recently told another woman i believed to be a friend but he was sleeping with her too that I had the surgery and now I think i'm better than ppl and they laughed about how I'm still big and my body gone be a mess (I seen the messages) the disrespect is at an all time high. Bottom line is I am better than what they obviously thought of me. This change has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, I'm happy about life again, I see the changes in me mentally, spiritually, and physically. I'm looking forward to the future and learning not to settle or accept anything I'm discovering my worth and now I'm glad I can close that chapter in my life and looking forward to my journey and finding someone new that sees the Goddess in me
