I would like to know if you had any other weight loss surgeries or not? Is this a way to get back on your program or is it just to help you lose the weight? You seemed to do well. I had my RNY 3 years ago and I have been successful in keeping off my weight but my hubby just had a Sleeve done and he isn't losing his weight near as fast as I feel he would have with the RNY. His mind hunger is totally taking him down!!! Thank you in advance

The episode that was on Aussie TV last night was all about weight. One patient had extreme anorexia and the other patient needed to have his very successful bypass reversed because he had Crohn's disease. It was more dramatic because he had never told his husband that he used to be obese and had had a bypass.

So, I'm confused, if men are forced to pay more for 2 categories of dress, and only 1 for women, how is this statement from your title accurate? "but almost exclusively on women's clothing, not men's" Plus-sized Men also have the added "benefit" of having to pay extra for suits, that pretty much always have to be tailored to fit, another fun additional cost, just to have something they can wear to work.
I'm not sure where I heard it, and I may be mistaken, but I thought men received altering services for free in most places (where they bought their suit), but women were nearly always expected to pay for the same services.
Shoes aren't priced according to size, are they? There's a big difference in a woman's 5 and 11, no? A lot more leather, more bling, more everything.

I Am married to a man that's set in his way of doing things plus he's in the one move status and I cannot introduce any other moves nor suggest any without it being a disaster. Sooo, "downtown " is out of the equation. Lol. BUT thanks for the response. I love hearing a man's viewpoint.

so here is a dating story from an older lady. I had a lapband when I was 66. I lost my husband of 39 years a few years ago. He loved me fat or thin. I also lost 3 other members of my family at that same time . I was depressed but knew I had to try to maintain my weight loss. Met a man through a weekly charity poker game. so long story short, he asked me out and I told him up front about my weight loss surgery and I had a lot of apron skin at the time. I still started to feel confident because he always said he didn't care about that, liked me because I was confident. I had skin surgry last Spring and he was by my side and took care of me. Life has no guarantees and it goes by so fast. If a man only cares about you if you are perfect and thin you need to find someone who is genuinely caring and honest. I am very blessed and we are now engaged to be married and he still loves me for who I am. sometimes its destiny. Get out there and live life, and if it's meant to be it will happen.

    Start over.
Nothing anywhere says you can't just scratch everything and start from square one.
Pretend you didn't have the surgery 6 years back. Start doing a pre-op diet. Then transition back into your progressive increase diet. Get back into tracking EVERYTHING. Check your BMR because it has decreased since you started your process. You can do this, you just need to focus and get back on track.

Hey! Not from Memphis but only 1.5 hrs from there. Live in Missouri and visit down there often. My aunt lives there.
I just had my surgery Monday, the 12th. No problems at all. My biggest thing is I’m SICK of a liquid diet!! My Protein Shakes curb my appetite but I’m just so ready for food, not just drink. I have not cheated at all unless unable to get in all the liquids in a day that they want us to counts. I think I took in too much too fast last night, resulting in dumping. Went to bed to keep from vomiting! I go for my 1 wk post-op on Tuesday and hopefully get my Phase 2 diet. So looking forward to an egg and mashed potato!!

I would so do it again in a heartbeat. How many other things have you tried? How many worked? How long do you want to stay on that hamster wheel doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result? It is work. You will have to change your diet. You do have to follow the rules. But this surgery makes it possible. I highly recommend doing more research. Get the statistics. Are the potential health benefits worth it? Is fitting into your life and the world more comfortably worth it? Oh yea! Read, read, read until the answer becomes clear and you are comfortable with YOUR decision.

Hi. WLS is a big deal so kudos to you for thinking everything through again before surgery. food changes after surgery...that’s why we do it...at the same time, as long as your surgeon is ok w it - eating some things here or there like two bites of birthday cake isn’t unheard of. My surgeon said no sweets and no alcohol.

How determined are you to stick w it? You will be the best predictor of the outcome. By following your surgeon’s guidelines, you’ll give yourself the very best opportunity for success. Will two bites of cake cause you to want more sweets more often? If it will, are you able to stop yourself from eating more? The same about wine - will you want to drink more alcohol more often? It really becomes a mental game as much as a physical one. If you don’t want to be part of the 30% that regains, you’ll need to eat only what your stomach allows in terms of portion sizes. In general, I think you may eventually be able to eat a little more than two spoonfuls but it will still be a lot less than it once was.

I had surgery just over 2 months ago. I was nervous too, especially the night before. Everything went really well for me. I’m super happy I had sleeve surgery.

I wish you all the best.

Wow, that pool class sounds amazing. One of the drawbacks of living in the country is the lack of resources like that. I've been walking or doing my elliptical/ bike machine. Lol,I'm so cold natured that lately it's more the machine. And staying busy cleaning and organizing house. It's definitely more than I did before, but I'll have to find something more to add

@oregondaisy This is a concern of mine. I've was a solid D for years and years. Then I had two kids... and they sort of deflated a bit. Now, facing WLS, I'm sure they'll end up looking like tube socks.

No worries, I felt the same way. Ended up losing about 14 pounds in a week of liquid diet, and I smacked a bit and cheated haha. You’ll be surprised how quick you’ll drop it. Those scales can really be harmful to you, don’t check it all the time!

All of you are risking your health if you are cheating like within a few weeks of surgery. 'Treating yourself' is fine but why does it have to be with food? This is not to judge but to let you know this is not a path to success with the surgery. Yes, it will stop you from reaching your goal. And if you were sleeved 2 weeks ago, you are literally putting your life at risk. Seek out a good therapist to find out why you are sabotaging yourself.

I'm 49 (had surgery at 45) 5'5" lost 100 pounds. Initially had major sags and wrinkles in my face, jowls, neck, upper arms, belly, butt and legs. My face, neck and arms tightened up nicely within a year. I Probably look older with the lines on my face than I did with chubby cheeks, though. Still have Looseness on my belly, but not too bad that I'm not afraid to show it off. Below my waist is a disaster. My ass skin is on my thighs and my thigh skin in on my knees. Despite wearing size 5/6 jeans, shorts and skirts are not a part of my wardrobe. But I'll take saggy skin over smooth fat any day!

I weigh 255lbs and I have arthritis, and balance issues, I'm afraid if I fall my husband wouldn't be able to help me because of his physical issues. I need assistance with simple things.
One day I was looking through some pictures of a family gathering, wen I realized that my view from chest down was deceiving, I thought I had a muffin top, when I saw the pictures I seen the whole bakery with a basement going on.
I have been able to lose weight but never have been able to maintain , used to be muscular and would tell everyone that there was a lot of muscle weight included in my bmi. I realize things need to change so I'm starting my journey on the 22nd of Sept.
