  1. It looks like the February Foxes have it, unless, lol, I can extend the time?I wanted us to have a name when our month began. And there is a poll on the February 2009 forum, too. I think it lasts until the 7th. Debbie
  2. Hey Shaggs, I'm afraid that my liver isn't going to shrink enough, and I'll wake up and not have my band. I'm not really anxious about the surger yet, but give me time! I know what you mean about that sick, anxious feeling. I had a hysterectomy six years ago, and talk about scared! I remember telling my best friend that I couldn't go through with it; I was ready to jump off the bed in the pre op staging area. But it's kind of exciting, too, knowing that we're going through this together. On the support forum I was on for that surgery, we had surgery buddies, those who had their surgeries on the same day. That's you and me, and anyone who's having the surgery on the 10th. My diet consists of full liquids, so I can have low sodium, cream Soups, juice, sugar free puddings, and Jello, and of course, Protein shakes. Last night, I felt like this was the end of the world. I was so depressed because I couldn't eat solid food, and I told myself that if I didn't feel better today, I'd just give up and eat. But this morning I got on the scale, and found out I'd lost 8 pounds. Guess I'm in it to win it! And so are you! Let's keep writing, pm me if you'd like. Debbie.
  3. Tapshoes, what a great sendoff for us February 2009 bandsters. Thank you for taking the time to pop over here and share experience, strength and hope. I'll definitely be coming by to pick the brains of my February 2008 brothers and sisters! Thank you. Debbie
  4. Hi Shaggs, I guess each surgeon has a different pre op diet, and mine has the full liquids. Boy, do I want something to eat! It comes and goes, and when I drink the Protein drinks that are part of the diet, I feel better for a while. It's really strange, but I sometimes feel like this is teaching me a new way to eat, even though it's probably the hardest thing I've ever done. But I'm hangin' in there, and I know you will too! Let's keep in touch. Keep me posted, ok? Debbie
  5. Thank you to all the Victorious Valentines from 2008, for your warmth and encouragement. I've apologized, because the name was something I chose without even realizing you guys (and gals) had it. And thank you for being so willing to let us keep the name in our poll, and for not coming after me! lol Debbie
  6. Boy! Am I glad I saw this thread! I'm on the fourth day of my full liquid diet, and I notice that just before it's time for a meal, I feel sad, think about how good solid food would taste. But like so many have said, I don't want to wake up from surgery to find that I have no band. I fought too hard for it! There are people all around us, those who have gone before, and those who will come after. I want to be able to pay it forward, encouraging others as I've been encouraged. It's hard, but we can do this!! Debbie
  7. I am on the fourth day of my pre op diet, full liquids. Right after I've had a meal, I'm all right; then just before it's time for another one, I'm wondering what I'm doing, if I'll make it. Does anyone find a particular time of the day or night harder? It's not as bad as I thought, but it's definitely not easy! Debbie
  8. Someone said that the February 2008 bandsters were victorious Valentines. If that's true, I apologize, I really had no idea that name had been taken. But it looks like February foxes and Victorious Valentines are tied. So far! Debbie
  9. Oops! Sorry February 2008 brothers and sisters! I didn't know that name had been used. February fireballs is kind of catchy, isn't it? I did post a poll on the pre op, February 2009 thread. Wonder if I can change it? Debbie
  10. Boy, Lil' Miss Scareall, you come quite a way. I got a letter saying that I was approved, and took it to Dr. Quilici's office. Maureen said they hadn't been notified of my approval, so it was a good thing I brought the letter. But you do have to stay on top of them. I had to call them to get my pre op diet, which I'd been told would be mailed to me. Julie said she would fax it, but it didn't come through, so I called again and Maureen, who was supposed to have mailed it, faxed a couple of copies. There are a few people in the San Fernando/Glendale/Burbank area trying to start a group just for bandsters. We've met a couple of times, and are planning to meet again at the home of one of the women. Anyone who wants to join us is more than welcome! Debbie
  11. Thank you, Diane. I'm thinking that maybe I'll just go on the treadmill and not try anything else. It will help with all the nervousness I know I'll feel. Debbie
  12. Ok, so it's pretty obvious I didn't know how to post a poll, but you all know what I mean! Debbie

  15. Thank you all very much. I have been exercising, and I do have a lot of weight to lose. I'll find out on Monday if my surgeon tells me if and how much. I've been exercising for quite a while, even before I considered lap band surgery, so I'm hoping it just means I have a head start on things. Debbie
  16. I am starting my pre op diet (full liquids) on Tuesday. Can anyone who has done this tell me if they exercised? I have my surgical consult on Monday, and will ask then, but I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has done that, or do you not have energy? Debbie
  17. How can we get everyone to vote? Maybe it's not important to most people :-( Debbie
  18. Victorious Valentines 2009? Debbie
  19. When I got in to the Access paratransit van to go to work this morning, the driver said, "I have an extension if you need it." I've also been referred to as being "full," and just plain "too fat" to sit in the back with other passengers in cabs. The thing that hurts is that I know it's true. But not for long! Debbie
  20. Thank you, Kiz and Bearbandit. We had a Protein tasting at my last support meeting, and I found a couple I really liked. I liked the Isopure pineapple blue raspberry, and the Protein Drink from Trader Joe's in a can. My surgeon's office recommends Worldwide Pure Protein, which I guess you can also get at Trader Joe's. I'll be on the pre-op diet for two weeks. Guess I'll be drinking a lot of chicken, beef and vegetable broth. It's a good thing I like sugar free pudding and fudgecicles, too! :-) Maybe I won't when this is over. I'm already dreading the Jello! :-) Debbie
  21. Hi all, I don't drink coffee, any kind of milk, well, sometimes soy, and I don't really like yogurt. Any suggestions for substitutes, or will I just be drinking a lot of Water and Crystal Lite? (Not that I'd mind.) Oh yes, and I mustn't forget juice Thanks in advance. Debbie. .
  22. Hi all, My name is Debbie. I'm being banded February 10th. I'll start my pre op diet next Monday, and it's all I can think about. My partner is very supportive although she was just a little scared when I first brought up the subject of being banded. Bubz, congratulations on losing so much. And yes, I'll try to visit more, too. Debbie
  23. Ok, Fabulous February Friends, am I the only one who feels like all I can think of is my upcoming surgery? I'm going about my day, but it's always in the back of my mind. How much time are you taking off work? And last of all, I've had a few suggestions for a group name, in the February 2009 forum, so I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to force this one on you. I happen to like it, and think of you all as friends since we're going through this in the same month. :-) Debbie
  24. My best friend had some dental procedure, I think it was having her wisdom teeth pulled. She hadn't slept much the night before, but the anesthesia wasn't working. They still had ether at that time, and gave her that. She said she was dreaming that she was dancing, and there were psychedelic lights flashing. When she woke up, she was moving her feet. this isn't coming out of surgery, but, when I was a kid, I had two eye surgeries. The first one I didn't really understand what was happening. They put a mask over my face, and I kept yelling, "Take it off! Take it off!" Of course, every time I took a breath, I was inhaling ether. And I was out. the second time I knew what was happening, so I somehow wrapped my arms around the gurney, and they had to pry me loose. I bit the doctor!
  25. How about Fabulous February Friends? The fab February I stole from someone who made the suggestion, I just added the friends.
