TXJess got a reaction from LauraD84 in GERD and Gastric Sleeve
My surgeon told me it depended on the type of reflux. I had bile in my stomach from a weak valve between my stomach and intestines. Losing weight wasn't going to fix it and the sleeve would make it worse. I had to do the rny . I was disappointed, but I had enough time to get used to it. If my reflux was just my stomach acid and my belly pushing it up, we could have done the sleeve, but not with bile in my stomach. They'll have to do the egd to tell what type of reflux you have.

TXJess got a reaction from Nmelo723 in Pre-op diet, lost 20# in less than 2 months, feeling great....but.....
I have the Mirena too. I've had it replaced twice now - had it for 10 years. About a week post-op, I had my first period in about five years. It was really light, but it was there.
Oh and a word to the wise. Sudden weight loss can make you extra fertile. I had a friend who was doing Medifast with me who was infertile. The doctors didn't know why, but she just was infertile. she adopted two kids over the years. They were like 8 and 4 when she started MF. Three months later she was pregnant. guess what - rapid weight loss changes your hormones.
Anyway - call your doctor and see if there is anything they can do for you until your hormones even out.

TXJess got a reaction from kell911 in ARE YOU FEELING HUNGRY RNY vs VSG
I'm four weeks out with rny. I'm still not hungry. It's a bit of an issue because I need to eat for some energy, but everything sounds horrible. It Wil get better. And I'm a third of my way to goal already.

Most troops will allow you to buy boxes for the Military. They will pack them up and ship them out for you, and you never have to smell, touch, or even think about them!
It's a win-win in my book!

TXJess reacted to My Bariatric Life in Digestive problems many years after gastric bypass - help needed
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I know a little about FMT. We included it in an article that we wrote on gut bacteria and weight gain http://www.mybariatriclife.org/trust-your-gut-bacteria-and-weight-gain-2/. At the time of the writing it was considered experimental and not covered by insurance. That may have changed by now. So I need to look into it. Thanks again for your support. It is awful to experience the pain and inflammation and bloating. Add to that the myriad of problems presented when I am in a public place, at the office, church, someone's home...

TXJess reacted to Megall9 in Reward for meeting weight loss goal
I've been celebrating little milestones with a new piece of make up that I've been wanting.
I hit my first BIG milestone of losing 100 lbs right before Christmas, and celebrated by starting my tattoo! It's in my profile photo, my phoenix. I go back in 2-3 weeks for the colour to be added.

TXJess got a reaction from ConnieY in Day 8 Post Op
Yeah, I ran out of pain meds by day 10. Sitting for any length of time was horrible. I was in so much pain. For me it was the big incision on the left side. Week one, hard to move, get out of bed or sit up. Week two, could roll over but still couldn't lay on my left side. Week three starting to lay on my left side. The pain came and went, but if I got tired I would hurt, or maybe I hurt because I was tired. Week four, I had a few days without pain, then overdid it, and was in pain. This week is no pain. It will get better.

TXJess got a reaction from Hazel_eyez in Reward for meeting weight loss goal
My reward is going to be hiking in colorado this summer with my kids. I won't be wearing my 100 pound "backpack" anymore, so I'm excited to do that and rafting. Both things I couldn't do last summer.

TXJess got a reaction from GBLady41 in 2 months post op (RNY) and i am HUNGRY!
My doctor said to call immediately if that happened. That is a symptom of too much acid and or an ulcer. Not to be alarmist, but call. You don't want to end up with ulcers.

TXJess reacted to augustgirl in Vitamin patches?
Love the Patches. I couldn't deal with eating Vitamins for first few weeks after surgery so they were lifesavers. I am still using them 2 months post op.

TXJess got a reaction from zizi_tops in MSN...you suck!
I agree. There was another thread on here about how we cheated by having surgery. Whatever, it's their ignorance. I honestly had that internal fight with myself on why I couldn't just lose weight on my own. I finally realized that I have, many times. But I always put it back, plus more. The stats are behind me on the surgery though.

TXJess got a reaction from pvechiola in Appetite changes
for some odd reason, my sense of smell and taste are way overly sensitive. I can barely eat sugar free things (like a popsicle) because it is too strong.
