  1. Just wanted to give encouragement to everyone. It has been a while since I posted. I went on vacation to Hawaii for a few weeks and have been bombarded with my schedule since my return. Today I get to celebrate losing 35 pounds in 92 days and I couldn't be more thankful!! A few people have recently noticed and now I am walking around with only 1 1/2 chins instead of 3!!! Thank God for HIS blessings and the advances in medicine to give me a wonderful chance of trying this whole thing over again...........Stay with it ladies, it does work!!!
  2. I haven't tried carrots - thanks for the warning - I have pretty much stayed away from salads since being banded but I have tried cucumbers from a veggie tray - and made sure I chewed and chewed and chewed and they went down ok. I notice that the cucumber is not full of carbs so whenever I want a crunchy good tasting veggie that is what I go for.
  3. It is also nice to have "experts" come in for a talk (i.e. dietician, hair/nail expert, cosmetic surgery options for excess skin, etc.)
  4. NEVER - You have still done really well! I am off to the Big Island of Hawaii on Thursday and am going to try to do my best to stay on plan. I am taking my tennis shoes and IPOD so I won't have an excuse not to hit the treadmill everyday!! Pray for me!! 8-)
  5. I am staying on plan today because my husband is starting to notice and "feel" the changes taking place in me......
  6. Isn't it high in carbs or sugar? I can't remember I haven't looked at a bottle in a while
  7. I am staying on plan today because everyday it seems to get easier and easier..........................
  8. I am staying on plan today because I am down 2 more lbs this week!!!!
  9. It is sad when so many suggestions, valuable feedback and valid responses to a myriad of excuses (legitimate or not) is ultimately met with a decison to just disregard it all, make reference to being brought to "tears" and abruptly leave the discussion. I have learned so much by reading through the thread - where every negative has been counteracted with a positive - should I ever find myself on this lap band journey looking for "outs" to destructive behavior that tries to creep in, I can use these interactions as a reference. Thanks to all who stepped up and were willing to tell it like it is.
  10. That first true PB experience is definitely something to be remembered. Mine was at my sister's wedding a few weeks ago. I ate one bite too many and suddenly I sweating, slightly shaking, looking around, trying to be inconspicuous, wondering if I should bolt for the nearest restroom, breath, breath, little sip of water and finally it subsided..........WOW! - definitely don't want to do that everyday!!
  11. Thanks MENDY - that really makes sense - sometimes I am so close to the symptom I can't really think through it properly!! I find that it is much more common with liquid as well. You are a genuis!! 8-)
  12. LEVI - that sounds like almost the same exact PB experience I had recently at my sisters wedding. Fortunately I didn't have anything come up but the sweating and slight shaking and the feeling that I should bolt to the nearest restroom - it passed after a bit. When I went in yesterday for my first fill - the doctor told me he had put 2 cc's in my band at time of surgery - so it sounds like you too are on your way!! 8-)
  13. Can anyone answer for me - I just had my first fill yesterday (up to 4 ccs) and since then I have been experiencing a lot of burping!! No discomfort just some unexpected burps - has anyone else experienced this? Occassionally I feel a light restriction but other times no difference. I am continuing to lose which is good and I go back for another fill July 1. Whoops! There goes another one - excuse me!! Guess it is better from this end than the other............. 8-)
  14. I had my first fill yesterday and ever since then I have been physically burping a lot more - no discomfort - but has anyone else experienced this? At times I only feel a slight restriction and other times nothing.
  15. I am staying on plan today because when I got up this morning my pants were much more loose than they were last week!! 8-)
  16. NEVERB - you have really good loss - is that since you have been banded?
  17. French fries used to be a HUGE TEMPTATION. SUPER SIZE PLEASE Not anymore. I just don't have the craving..........it is the weirdest thing............
  18. Kat - I didn't know they made them that small......... My doctor told me I had the standard size of 10 cc's. Funny how all new terms are introduced into your life when you undergo something like this!
  19. I am staying on plan today because I had my first fill today and am back on liquids................ All the nurses said my loss to date was a great loss!!
  20. Thanks Ladies for the encouraging posts. I will take all I can get - I hope I hit 60lbs by 4 months!! That would be wonderful. Hey I am just thrilled at 6 weeks my scale has finally left the land of the 300's and is getting further away day by day!!
  21. Everyone is different - but most of the posts I have read all indicate that as individuals get closer and closer to the band they start to eat in a more crazy manner because they think they are never, ever, ever going to be able to eat those particular things again. I know I did this for about 3-4 days and then I just started to irritate myself, feel sick and just decided to stop. The band has totally stopped my fixation on food. I almost can't explain it except, I know that the band is there, there is going to be some restriction and if it not worth all the excessive chewing and work to get it down then I don't even want to bother with it. In addition, I am so busy trying to get enough Protein in that I just don't gravitate to the "junk" anymore. The increased exercise has also helped to curb the appetite and because I see results, I only want to move forward and not backwards. I am sure those who have been banded longer will be able to better articulate it but I am so happy with the band. Tomorrow will be my 6 week anniversary and I am down 25lbs and feel absolutely wonderful. I am bound and determined to get every dime out of this lapband and honestly I don't feel deprived at all. For some stronger encouragement check out the posts from Jachut, Wasabubblebutt, Salsa and IndioGirl. They have tremendous results and I love any post I can find by them
  22. DD - loved your post. It is so encouraging especially to newbies like me. I have done quite a bit of the prep work you described and have been making good choices. This past weekend I was at a birthday party with a HUGE buffet but made wise choices and was satisfied. Previous to the band I would have gone hog wild! I received my first fill today now I am up to 4 cc's. Don't really feel any different at this point but I only have to live with it for 3 weeks and then I can get some more. I am thrilled at the changes I have been able to make because of the band and as of today I have lost more weight in 6 weeks than I have ever been able to do before without falling back into my old habits, losing the willpower and quickly gaining it all back and more.
  23. Had my first fill today and got 2 cc's - now I am up to 4 cc's but honestly not feeling any different from 2 cc's. Go back in another 3 weeks for another fill so I will work with this one to see if it makes any difference at all. My doctor says I will probably get it at about 6 or 7cc's so we will c (see)!! 8-)
  24. There is also a Lap-Band Companion handbook by Watson MD and Jones MD. It explain the operation, gives the BMI charts and walks you through the various stages/phases. Some pretty good diagrams and food lists, etc. I purchased it on Amazon.
