I had a friend who had the lap band and had to have it removed due to complications. My brother got the sleeve 2 years ago and it's changed his life. He lost a lot of weight and is off insulin. I get sleeved tomorrow morning :-)

I just wanted to share that I'm 6 days away from having my surgery. I spent my Sunday afternoon "spring cleaning" my pantry and kitchen. I did my fridge last weekend. I threw out all of the food that I wouldn't be able to eat after surgery and all of the expired food too! (THAT needed to be done). I went through my small freezer and got rid of all the chicken fingers, pizza pops (left over from step-kids visits), and *gasp* my favourite, the perogies! Found a lot of stuff that was freezer burnt. Good thing it's gone. No temptations after surgery.
I just wanted to say that if anyone was delaying this, don't. You'll feel better. I felt empowered. Like I was in control of everything that I would feed myself after surgery. It was three hours of my life and it's something I won't have to do after surgery while all the hormones are going on, and trying to fill the emotional uncertainty with food.

All bariatric surgeons are different and what they recommend will vary. Complications can happen with any surgery, and I do believe compliance plays a part. I trust my surgeon and what I learned about the surgical options. I'm comfortable with the decision I made with my surgeon. Each person needs to decide what is best for them and their lifestyle. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

My sister was banded 12 years ago and has lost over 100 pounds without complications. I was banded in October and feel great. I believe compliance of the patient and skill of the surgeon impact the outcome. I went to a center of excellence and took 6 months of classes. I learned about the three surgical options and we evaluated my ability to be compliant, etc.

I am single and live with my 2 dogs. So, I need family assistance with Hospital and the dog care when I go in for surgery.
My whole family has been understanding, but last night my dad had a glimmer in his eye of excitement for me. I used to compete in triathlons (for fun) and he was asking if I thought I could start again next year. I could hear it in his voice too.
He is 72 and still doing then....ranked 3rd in his age group nationally.

I'm right there with you! We can do it! I'm on the 2 week pre-op liquid diet -- 4 Protein Shakes a day, as well as broth or sugar free Jello. It was terrible the first day but I feel like I'm on a roll now. Almost one week down!

Hi my surgery is set for December 12th. I will start my liquid diet on November 28th.

Everything went smoothly, I feel great today. Im surprised I did not have excruciating pain like I thought , I'm So happy. No pain just discomfort that can be tolerated.
Yesterday , Only thing Was nausea and my liquids would not digest felt like it was sitting in my throat and I wanted to chug it up but they say it could happen bec I had a hernia repair . so they suggested I crunch on ice.
So this morning , feeling a lot better. [emoji122]????[emoji122]????[emoji122]????

I had my surgery around 11:00am.. it went perfect!! Very nauseous until they gave me meds... over all my experience has been great. I have done 4 laps around my floor.. pain in minimal. Don't be afraid guys. Definitely bring chap stick and mouth wash is your best friend:) good luck

I'm all about grass fed butter (kerrygold) and no processed of artificial sugars. Stevie is OK. Good fats are body needs,not artificial substitutes.

So glad you are doing okay! I will join you on the losers bench tomorrow. Will they let you have Gas-X strips? I hear a lot of people say that it helped them after surgery. I will keep you in my prayers!!

Hi bariatric fan... surgery was done yesterday. The gas pain was awful yesterday and kept me nauseated. I was feeling really bad. But I walked and used my incentive spirometer for breathing exercise and I feel a lot better today. I thank you all for your prayers and support during this time. I desperately needed both.
